I think he's talking about the chaos faced, when making a transition from a kid to an adult, and learning he would have to do somethings he never thought he'd ever do and he feels forced to conform if he's to make it in this life, His voice makes him sound like he's being torn in to different directions. A part of him wants to grow up and be successful and other wants to just let things go and just live his dream.

I think its about The future, it comes quicker than you realise, plans made and not carried out, things not turning out the way you expected.
