@turquoise770 For me it's been natural to learn english. I started playing around with a Commodore 64 at age 6. Not much swedish involved with that. Then came the NES and more computers and games. By the time I started learning english in school (I think it was grade 3), I already knew quite a bit.

Ofcourse our own language gets pushed to the side. I can't count the ammount of times I've used an english word because it comes to me more naturaly the the swedish.

Worth it tho. Imho

@turquoise770 It's not "officially" the second language. But it is taught from the second grade and up so naturally most people in Sweden know it.

@turquoise770 I guess we just realise that swedish is a small language and if we want to go out in the world and be apart of the international community, then we have to speak English. I've never seen it as a problem that we're so influenced by your culture, that influence is probably making us even more aware of our own culture I think...We don't see it as it's being force upon us, I don't know how to explain it but basically we use it to our advantage, Hope you get my point! :)

@turquoise770 It's not like someone is standing over our heads forcing us to embrace american culture just because we learn english at a young age ;) And they teach british english, not american. Although alot of the tv shows and so forth are american so yeah. I guess it gets kinda jumbled to some sort of britamericana. Still don't get why anyone would be offended and or recentful 'cause they are being taught a second language? And who could be recentful watching True Blood ey ;)
