It's lasted longer than most prime time shows and has had amazing branding. Kids today still know about the simpsons, which says alot. Most kids from this day and age don't even know about shows like: Ren and Stimpy, CatDog, Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Laboratory, etc. yet they know about the Simpsons. So I can kind of understand.

@dcmcgaskey101 - It is true that the Simpsons set the trend, even the Creators of South Park would agree with that, but they were all, even the Simpsons, influenced by Comedies like Monty Python, especially Terry Gillam's Animation, even Matt Groening admits that. But I think you are right, while Python were an influence, the Simpsons really started it all for Animation Comedies.
