Am I the only one that can't even think for a minute that this could be Chaka? Toni is doing her thing and sounds nothing like Chaka. When Toni wails she sounds a bit like Chaka but the comparison stops there.  Toni is more controlled and gets a little gritty in ways that are not symbolic of Chaka. God bless em both though Chaka is my girl.

I knew this wasn't Chaka when I 1st heard it cuz I know Chaka's voice!!! But she captured the essence of her style!!! What's really crazy is I thought Toni sang on Billy Cobham's "What is your Fantasy" for the longest & I just found out it was Mikki Howard!!! Chaka is the most influential & imitated singer ever!!!

It's Funkin' for Jamaica...not Jamaica Funk. Chaka said she even thought she recorded this and just couldn't remember (she records so much, it wouldn't be surprising). She did cover it at a live show or two. There's footage here on Youtube somewhere.

You are right! She has a more highly refined voice I think she had formal voice training and Chaka Kahn did not.
