  • impressive

  • OMG THE MUSIC ....SOMEONE ACTUALLY MADE THIS MUSIC

  • It's a video. You aren't PLAYING the game.

  • The best complement one can give is, "It's Fake." or "That's impossible.". :)

  • for the people that say it is fake: I posted a video answer that shows that it is NOT fake and played on a real C64.

  • @daddlertl3

A better idea would be to make it available as a download for people to load on their real Commodore 64 computers. Yes I know you mention the extra hardware required but some people will have that too.

  • @EgoShredder here is my entire collection (all Nuvie-videos I found on the internet) daddlertl.brianum.de/downloads/C64_REU_Nuvies.rar (download only if you own a C64 with 1541 ultimate or chameleon64 cartridge, otherwise the download is useless)

How to watch a Nuvie on a C64 using a 1541 ultimate: put the latest firmware on the SD-card, enable the 16MB-REU, load a .reu file, start the nuvieplayer-v1.0.prg - the video should be played

  • @daddlertl3 It is fake, because your description is "This Video shows Trackmania Nations on my Commodore 64!", which isn't what the video shows. The video shows _video_ of Trackmania Nations being played on a Commodore 64. There is a huge difference :)

  • that's is pretty impressive for a c64, upgraded or what not!

  • I think I am Drax' biggest fan - his funk tunes are beyond this world! :)

  • Fake. you'll need to update the vidcard also... that can't be done :D

  • @Poeki18 you must be joking

  • Great work!

  • So this is kinda like how a game would have been today if the screen were only capable of low res and colors.

  • for those who know the limitations of c64, this is fake :) but has the c64 feel so a+ on that

  • @naveed80 it's a damn video ¬¬

  • @naveed80 nope. no fake. 1541u with 16Mb RAM Extension :P

  • @naveed80

It's really done on a c64 but slightly souped up with a (512MB) expansion and is only a playback of a movie ported from PC so it's not a game nonetheless but is still impressive considering the CPU speed it had. The software behind it was created by Crossbow of Crest and he also did a Dallas intro using the same technique. There is a real C64 running it on a video on youtube, you can look it up. But yeah the above is still a movie nonethelss not a playable game sadly

  • It made me stop thinking for a while. It can't be rendered! just a DMA video, anyway great.

  • nice fake :)

  • FAKE!!!!

  • hehe... just a video!

  • This video player has very nice dithering!

  • fuck

  • @stincoolaid While i was impressed by the visuals for an 8-bit machine I still think it's legit ... simply because I know that Crossbow would be very capable of doing such a thing ... If anyone doesn't know who Crossbow is ...he's very talented demo programmer member of CREST demo group... you can look them up on youtube , you will find a good number of them ... If that stuff is vectors for real I'm nothing short of impressed! Am looking the files up!

  • @AlcatrazLives get real. It's clearly fake.

  • @realisticHomeboy

I'm afraid you're wrong and i'm real 10x,what you're seeing there is legit and has been done on a REAL c64 running with 512MB ram expansion (and before you ask YES they really existed but were not widely sold). However this is only a movie of the original PC game ported over to the C64 doing an image playback at 30fps which is still quite impressive considering the 2Mhz clockspeed of the 8510 chip. Would have been cool if it were a playable game though

  • @AlcatrazLives Hence, it's not Trackmania Nations on C64, but "just" a video played on a C64. This video happens to be a video of Trackmania Nations.

  • @AlcatrazLives I saw a working Descent clone on commodore 64 at a demoparty. Its more than 10 years ago. It was fully playable. Damned if I could remember the group. Point being. This is very impressive, but it is a heavily souped up machine. Some guy at a demo party in Aars/ Denmark had a fully working descent clone running on his stock 64 that people could sit down and play. Wasnt pretty, but I had rarely been more impressed with anything, ever.

  • INCREDIBLE !!!!

  • How the hell do you make nuvie videos???

    I've already got a 1541U so that might help a bit :D

  • interesting how far you can take 16 colors with dithering

  • whoooaaahhh this is shocking such rendered images all dithered in 16color,just amezing that we need today over billions of colors.

    this is mind blowing.

  • superbe! :) from what I understand all the cpu timing is use in every scanline to get richer colors... while each frame address a different bank/memory address to stream the images. So, there is no room for streaming a digital track while getting this video quality. If only the SID chip could have a memory-streaming capability on its own! :)

  • Awesome man. But with 16 MB it isn't really C=64 anymore.

  • @edzzzwin well, i wouldn't be so strict. from the very beginning there have been memory expansions for the c64. this is just another one and the results are awesome.

  • @edzzzwin With more than 640 Kb it isn't really a PC any more ;)

  • gosh!

  • where can I download a converter to nuvie-format?

  • How is this done? Surely they couldnt have fit a minute of video into 64k

  • @CoolDudeClem Of course 64k is not enough, you need a RAM expansion with 16 MB. I used the 1541ultimate which has a RAM expasion of this size. As far as I know only the 1541u has a RAM expansion of this size.

  • @daddlertl3 I want 64 MB instead of 16! :-p

  • @CoolDudeClem Dude, it's clearly fake.

  • The 1541 Ultimate can't be THAT good can it? I guess it IS worth the 150 bucks.

  • you just changed colors...

  • @WikkuPL Wrong, this demo is really running on a real C64 with a 1541ultimate cartridge with a custom firmware. To run it on a C64 with a 1541ultimate you need the following files:

If you have the first (old) version of the 1541ultimate you need the custom firmware for REU support: the best way is to put the BluREU demo on the SD-card: ht tp://noname. c64. org/csdb/release/download. php?id=113651

If you have the second (new) version then the firmware may already support loading REU-files.

  • The nuvie player: ht tp://jsidplay2. sourceforge. net/REU/nuvieplayer-v1. 0. prg

And the demo files (contains trackmania united and many more animations) :

    ht tp://ww w. megaupload. com/?d=TEEZ58TC

You should put everything in the root directory of the sd-card and enable REU 16384KB in the settings of the 1541ultimate.

Then load a REU file into the 1541ultimate by selecting it and press Return.

Then select the nuvieplayer-v1. 0. prg and press F3 (if I remember correctly, don't have C64 here)

  • This is amazing

  • abspielen kannste es ja... wozu gibts den neuen videoplayer aufm c64? falls du mit "spielen" zocken meintest, das natürlich nicht.

  • wäre schön wenn man das so auf dem c64 spielen könnte :)
