I had a '56 S-120 with the 220 4X4 4 speed... I had always wanted to do the 264 thinking it would be a wild improvement. I think the 220 was around 110-110 horsepower... Anyway around home here in Western PA, we had enough hills that shifting down to 3rd was always a pain because you lost so much speed and had power to spare. It would have been nice to motor right up most of those hills at 40mph in 4th. With the 264 I thought it would be possible.
@punhoss I would imagine it made a big difference in performance. I never drove it before since it was siezed up badly when I got it. The Black Diamond 264 has 154 HP and 250 lbs/ft of torque @4000 RPM making it one of International's best performers.
Nice truck. A guy just offerd me a 56 with the origanal strait 6, 3 on the tree. Everythings there, but needs a good amount of body work, frames as solid as a roack, no rust on it. Anyways he wants to trade for my 3 wheeler.
love it.i got a 59 b120 4x4.just rebuilt the carb,i need a windscreen so i can put it on the road.anybody got one they want to sell? i like the shape of your truck better than mine.
I' m 15 i just bought a 1957 IH A122 truck she's got Michigan cancer but i cant wait to get some money coming in so i can crack in to her and make her look like the good old farm truck she is. i got her for $200 the engine was rebuilt complete in 97 ans just was left alone to sit and rot so i got her to have her as my first car. love the sound Im going to put a nice lookin stack on mine
Hey, just in case you don't know me I used to be Fordsucksalot123, anyways I got my stack jerry rigged and I'll tell you what, it sounds cool. I'll try to send a video.
Boy I sure do love them old international straight 6 engines. I have a 1956 International S-120 4X4 pick-up. It has a
BD-240 with a 4 on the floor transmission. Someday I plan on putting a 4 inch straight stack on it and give it that true antique farm truck sound, but it won't be to soon because I'm only 16yrs old without a job. Anyways, Love your truck, Love the sweet exhaust sound, 5/5 :)
"only" 16 years old? hell...prime time to get at it, man! Just keep tinkering with it off and on like I am, and before you know it, it's ready to rock and roll!!
I just can't wait to be able to drive it around town. Something else that really got me exited is that my grandpa brought over my stack, and it's not a 4" stack, It's a 5" turnout stack! So now I really can't wait to mount the stack on my truck. Boy it'll sure have a nice deep tone now :)
we have an international r120 and we sold it but the guy hasnt picked it up for 2 years and i really want it

Did the upgrade to the 264 make a significant difference in performance?
