  • fearlessness or gullible...

  • Instead of making this stupid ad Telecom should have upgraded their servers so we can we can have unlimited broadband like the rest of the world.

  • As if Theresa Gattung would have had the balls to do something this public if Telecom had cocked up as majorly during the 027 changeover!! Reynolds is a public relations genius

  • And when you want to change back to Vodafone cause calls keep dropping out,

they say "No, it's working as advertised!"

  • Telecom can suck arse... lol jk, No way are they getting near my bum..

  • I love this ad. Soooo very much. It is hilarious!!!! Tempted to switch now, just because of him :D

  • That is false. Had XT phone there less than two months ago and it did not work! lol!

  • This one ^^ IS CRACK UP! Stick till the end for the punch line

  • HAHA this one is amazing:

Stick with it to the end, the punch line is amazing

  • This made me want to vomit all over myself

  • Clearly he hasn't heard of the Kiwi kick-it-when-it's-down attitude, although in this case it's richly deserved.

  • 2 million dollar actor. And bad acting. He should resign for this debacle. At the end of the day the buck stops with him. Under his "leadership" Telecom New Zealand lost more than 70% of it's stock value and it's image. That's right folks keep patting this idiot on the back for a 1 minute ad

  • Mobile phone coverage on the Greenstone?, Yeah Right (should be a tui billboard). yeah hes near it but he sure as hell ain't actually on the track lol more bullshit, change network.

  • This is a brilliant ad. Telecom PR have done a bloody awesome job of keeping their customers. His accent is perfect and for a CEO to take the piss of his own company is exactly what is needed for the situation. I'm sticking with you XT.

  • The ads pimpin', gotta love a charming Scotsman.

  • Great ad, good to see the humourous self referential joke

  • Its a wonder they allowed comments - pathetic corny advert for a ever failing telecom to be honest i think the damage has already been done and any marketing is going to struggle now.

  • What a douche bag - they should cut the ad short at 55 seconds, it would be more accurate.

  • Well, if XT has similar problems any time soon then he can Telecom XT are screwed.

  • @jkingsbeer Mobile netwroks are like Infomercial products - they don't always perform in accordance to what's on the box and, as always, individual results may vary.

  • I think this is fantastic, i have also been affected, having an XT phone, but still laughed my head off when I saw this on tv, classic, good job, I will stay with XT!!

  • While Reynolds can't really be blamed for any of this, he's doing a great job, but OVERALL Telecom as a company has (pardon my language) made a fucking terrible mess out of NZ internet with their scams, money-making schemes and horrible quality of service.

Just 2 months ago we were told that our Go Large plan was going so we moved to Big Time. Just last week we got ANOTHER letter telling us that now Big Time was getting removed too due to Telecom failing to manage traffic properly.

  • good to see them putting some humor in to it. and i can say it does work where he says it does as i go there all the time

  • I think its genius, great work. You have pulled it off

  • Does this idiot think Kiwi's are so gullable to believe the crap he speaks about in this ad. His media team have missed the mark big time. You having a laugh

  • lol i think ill wait a few years when you have a proving yourself!!

  • No way you'd get me to move from GSM.

  • What a waste of money!!! He says Kiwis are fearless. Yea we fear getting ripped off

    Up Yours!!

  • more puke inducing than one of apple's product videos. (not that i hate macs. i love them. i just hate the ads.)

  • This i why im moving to 2 degree's. I was going to stay with XT in till i watched this add.

  • It's hard to believe anything from the mouths of Telecom. They continually lie to, and deceive, their customers. They still haven't fixed their last failure regarding the transfer of their email services which is still plagued with problems. They break the law continiously and just keep on saying sorry. I really don't think they give a shit about their customers or New Zealand.

  • Bloody hypocritical Haggis!!!!

  • Why are we paying this person..?

As the guy said 6 hours ago, just give us the goods without the surcharge for your next holiday package... please?

  • FRESH OFF THE BOAT AL!

  • humour fail.

  • an appalling suck-up...he obviously thought it was clever, funny and would appeal to kiwis but we're far too sharp and cynical to fall for this trash! what are the chances the "creatives" weren't kiwis either.

  • New Zealand has the gayest accent...

  • @kimzor1989 That's not a New Zealander , that's a Scottish person.

  • @kimzor1989 that guy ain't Kiwi.

  • Oh, already making yet another failing marketing scheme before the technology WORKS?

No surprise here. That "ol kiwi" quote doesn't mean what they think it means.

  • Where is NZ again?

  • @urmumisanrpm its above Canada

  • @melside Haha uuhh no, its beside Australia

  • Love the Ad. Very Impressed. Honest and a pinch of humor :P is an excellent combination.

  • Ok you failed your customers. We will eventually forgive that. But did you have to do it again in this awful commercial?? Big fat FAIL! Next time invest your money in getting the technology working and everything will be choice.

  • @flyingkiwi11 r u kidding?! this has to be one of telecoms best ads. the fact that they're willing to accept and take the micky out of themselves shows how sincere they really are over the network failure.

  • @MichaelJohnNielsen hmmmm, I'm sure most of us would rather poke needles in our eyes that sit through this cringing ad. Don't get me wrong, its ok to make mistakes and be genuinely sorry for it, but don't humiliate oneself further with this contrived, overbudgeted PR crap. Just give people the goods.

  • @MichaelJohnNielsen are you kidding? do you not remember "father and son"? they have had much better commercials in the past. You seem to know a lot about Telecom... one would suspect you work for them...

  • Good Ad. Thanks Paul...Failure Happens just a example

How we handle it all matters.... We fall many times before we start to walk correctly...

  • Catch many good brownies down there Paul?

  • Good on your Telecom for showing us what honesty can do... a message makes so much more sense from your CEO rather than a car nut... A+ (well done copywriter as well - hard job - well done!!)

  • Good on your Telecom for showing us what honesty can do... a message makes so much more sense from your CEO rather than a car nut... A+ (well done copywriter as well - hard job - well done!!)

  • i like tis guy for doing this add.good on him!

  • Haha good shit, whats the risk free trial about?

  • For the first 20 sec I thought it was a tourism add lol. Telecom's not that bad, but I still think 2 degrees is a nicer company

  • @cornchipzzzz i think 2 degrees has built a nice image for their network but I don't think they've really taken root in the market. I only know of one person using the network full-time.

  • Ok.......now you are just taking the piss... a six million dollar pay cheque, XT outages, failed 111 calls, massive redundancies, share price is in the toilet and there is an ad showing the CEO fly fishing...obviously thats what Telecom executives do in the midst of a crisis.Great job!!

Oh and unlike the previous posts I wish telecom would take things seriously because everything so far has been a train wreck - no jokes just give us technology that works and a company that does well. Simple.

  • @14chippie

My god, if everyone were as bitter as you then life on this tiny green and blue rock would suck mighty hard.

  • @14chippie your are so very wrong. Telecomes share price as taken a beating like all large listed companies. Yes they're network failed but need I remind you Telecome did not build the network. Alcatel Lucent did; What did they CEO of alcatel lucent do when the network failed...he quit. Has Paul quit? They ad was amazing in my view, sincere, honest and a little humor.

  • just reading the comments, how many are telecom marketting staff on here commenting?

  • Love it - great work Telecom for not taking everything so seriously!

  • Love it

  • PRATT!!!

  • one word......FAIL

  • @blackie198

    Two words - mindless rhetoric.

  • Hahahahahahahahaha.

    ha.

    hahahahahahaha.

    not.

  • is this a joke? if not, this is the most petty attempt to try save a companies ass I've ever seen!

  • Good on Telecom for getting Paul to front the TVC - great ad!

  • Top work - nice style! Let's be honest mobile technology doesn't always work as it should, regardless of network or provider. This honest and humourous ad puts things in perspective. No doubt to the relief of the thousands of Kiwis who work for Telecom and are ready to have a laugh and get some credit...

  • Nice ad. Good to see Paul and Telecom fronting up and that the network is now working "as it should have done". Nice little joke at the end.

  • Dont talk on your damn cell phone when your fishing! He's just asking to get that thing thrown in the river!!

  • Paul and Billy Connely should get together! ...

  • Haha Bugger. Brilliant to see that come back to TV! I wonder if it will get pulled for that like the Toyota Ad. Or maybe that is their intention.

  • slo-mo and uplifting music is a bit much but nice tone. i think he almost pulls off that little joke at the end.

  • Some very nicely shot work coming out of Telecom right now.

  • You're kidding me, right? If I had ever been a Telecom customer, this wouldn't reassure me in the slightest.

  • Well done Paul. Fronting up. Mistakes happen. How we deal with them is what counts.

    Signed

    Not a Telecom fanboy.

  • Love it. What a champion!
