  • yep was better back when the real usa existed.before our new facist goverment took control and sold us all out to international coperations....just memories for us now...

  • the video title's wrong here, right?

  • I don't usually like musicians with political messages in their songs... But John does it SO WELL that I have to like it :D

  • i know you're watching me, john. i got a new number one song in my head for you. call me

  • for anyone who lives in a small town or a farming community, this song is the anthem for life.

  • fortuantley our family farm in west newton P.A. has natural gas wells now....thats all that kept the over 100 year old farm running. the original log cabin is still standing. no nails just wooden pegs hold it together. i no longer live in p.a. but it still holds a special place in my heart, i havent been back in over 14 years. to many memories to bear seeing the farm.

  • long live the scarecrow and love live mellencamp

  • @jakez199456 and i feel bad for everyone who is being foreclosed

  • What we need to do is Grow our crops to eat at home and screw everyone else. Get other jobs to support our families.

  • Get rid of the US government lol they can kiss my ass.

  • The family farmer is being destroyed by greed and our dependency on cheap food. He will rise again if John and Willie and Neil have anything to say about it, which they do.

  • Jay i gotta admire your spirit...but not many people listen to John Willie and Neil anymore..if the farmers want action...if america as a country wants to stay self-reliant (this means not depending on Mexico and China) We need to bring back the farmers. Its what started our great country, but a few country songs won't make people realize this...we need someting more.

  • @crazygood80 phuck the mexicans and chinesse, the farmers in the video are my brethern.

  • This song brings a tear to my eye. One of the men in the beginning of the video could be my uncle Gary. I love this country and it breaks my heart to see the American Dream lost :(

  • This song is a true commentary on how our food was grown by independent farmers, at one time, who weren't looking for handouts and were willing to work hard for their pay. Now most of the food is grown by corporations, genetically modified and now they have a monopoly on what we need to survive! Who said Mr. Mellencamp wrote silly pop songs?

  • "We don't need another loan, we need a good price...I think the politicians are playing games with us"

    Yeah, they enjoy the games!

  • This song has me shedding a fricking tear!

  • ...waz a dark stormy night as the train rattled on all the passengers had gone to bed, except for a man with a baby in his armz...

  • Great song.

Happy 4th....may we change for the best.

  • At 3:04 to 3:20, John was actually singing that part live.

  • This song is so poignant, in expressing the ethics and history of these people who have devoted their lives to this tradition. Its timeless, and moving.
