yep was better back when the real usa existed.before our new facist goverment took control and sold us all out to international coperations....just memories for us now...
fortuantley our family farm in west newton P.A. has natural gas wells now....thats all that kept the over 100 year old farm running. the original log cabin is still standing. no nails just wooden pegs hold it together. i no longer live in p.a. but it still holds a special place in my heart, i havent been back in over 14 years. to many memories to bear seeing the farm.
The family farmer is being destroyed by greed and our dependency on cheap food. He will rise again if John and Willie and Neil have anything to say about it, which they do.
Jay i gotta admire your spirit...but not many people listen to John Willie and Neil anymore..if the farmers want action...if america as a country wants to stay self-reliant (this means not depending on Mexico and China) We need to bring back the farmers. Its what started our great country, but a few country songs won't make people realize this...we need someting more.
This song brings a tear to my eye. One of the men in the beginning of the video could be my uncle Gary. I love this country and it breaks my heart to see the American Dream lost :(
This song is a true commentary on how our food was grown by independent farmers, at one time, who weren't looking for handouts and were willing to work hard for their pay. Now most of the food is grown by corporations, genetically modified and now they have a monopoly on what we need to survive! Who said Mr. Mellencamp wrote silly pop songs?
This song is so poignant, in expressing the ethics and history of these people who have devoted their lives to this tradition. Its timeless, and moving.
