before you read this, i want everyone to know i love mirai and watch this video so much. however, her jumps werent as good as they normally are and she did seem a bit off towards the beginning. but, she was injured during the performance and the injury doubtlessly affected her training as well. for her to go out and do this program and do it well, was absolutely amazing.

In a weak field where everyone struggled. And oh, yeah, where did she place this year? Oh, thats right. Off the podium. Yup, she's fantastic. And winning or not has nothing to do with the fact that she underrotates most of her jumps, meaning that her jump technique is not very good.
I guess injuries really don't affect someone's performances. It's just dandy when athletes get injured. In fact, I believe they do better when they sprain an ankle or tear a ligament.

Yeah well if Mirai rested her ankle when she first injured it instead of skating in stupid SHOWS all summer, maybe she would have skated better. Although she still would have been underrotating everything because she's always cheated her jumps even when she wasn't injured.
Have you considered the fact that she really likes the sport she's doing. People have won Olympic golds with broken ankles. First of all I really don't know that you DO know her. From what others who skate with her have told me, she is a little diva at the rink, thinking she knows better thanher coach and acting like everyone else is in her way. Her skating is shaky with or without an injury. She has always underrotated her jumps, so her injury didn't cause it, but if she had rested instead of doing stupid shows where she sucked anyway, she might have healed faster and been able to fix her crap jumps.

I do agree with Courtney about under rotating a lot of her jumps. She gets eaten alive at international competitions because of it. BUT! I think she has more potential than any US female skater right now. Her quality, flexibility, and expression are great, and she does very well under pressure. And she's still young! If she can keep it up, I think after 2010 she'll start to blossom. 2014 is more realistic than 2010 for Mirai.

I don't think you realize how hard it is to sit out a season, especially if it is an injury when you can still skate and especially at this age, when you are trying to make a name for yourself. She obviously doesn't underrotate everything when she is healthy. If she underrotated all her jumps there is no way her technical score would have been so high last season. Even if you think she should have stayed out this entire season, no need to act so hostile toward her.
No one said she should have sat out the SEASON. She should have not skated in the shows that she did last summer when she had already injured the ankle. THAT was frickin stupid. She's old enough to know better. If she's skipped the shows she would have been in better shape in the fall and not bombed on the GP and at Nationals. She's a moron, and she's stupid to expect sympathy when it was her own fault for not listening to people when they told her to rest.
You really shouldn't judge her. Sure she had an injury. And she grew. But she also uses skating as a social hours as well. Miri also let having a social life infer with her skating. Honestly I do think it is partially Miri's fault. But you really don't have to be so rude about it. She is an amazing skater. She did grow quite a few inches but so did Caroline and she isn't using the sympathy card. Plus you honestly can't say you LISTENED to everything people have told you to do. Come on.

Wow mirai sure has grown in just the last year. How many inches did she grow since last year? You can see the ability and potential is still there. Maybe she needed this to toughen her up for Vancouver.
This was one of the most touching moments I've ever witness in figure skating. Mirai is a real champion with mega heart and talent! To skate through tears and end like that was incredible! That's inspiring.
haha no matter how many mistakes she makes, i still LOVE mirai nagasu's skating (: after michelle kwan disappeared from the competitive scene (if only she would come back), the two skaters i watch are mirai n caroline.

Mirai did get chosen to represent the US at Junior Worlds. But she decided to play it smart and heal her ankle, rather than risk upsetting the injury more. Smart cookie that girl is.
OMG, I was soooo hoping that Mirai and Caroline were gonna be on the world team. Now, neither of them are going. What is wrong with US Figure Skating?! I know her performances were flawed, but I don't see Caroline or Mirai falling in the whole competition, while the winner (Alissa, bless her heart) fell and landed only a total of 5 triples in both programs.
I absolutely love this girl. Seeing her smile always brightens up my day.

before you read this, i want everyone to know i love mirai and watch this video so much. however, her jumps werent as good as they normally are and she did seem a bit off towards the beginning. but, she was injured during the performance and the injury doubtlessly affected her training as well. for her to go out and do this program and do it well, was absolutely amazing.

In a weak field where everyone struggled. And oh, yeah, where did she place this year? Oh, thats right. Off the podium. Yup, she's fantastic. And winning or not has nothing to do with the fact that she underrotates most of her jumps, meaning that her jump technique is not very good.

I guess injuries really don't affect someone's performances. It's just dandy when athletes get injured. In fact, I believe they do better when they sprain an ankle or tear a ligament.

Yeah well if Mirai rested her ankle when she first injured it instead of skating in stupid SHOWS all summer, maybe she would have skated better. Although she still would have been underrotating everything because she's always cheated her jumps even when she wasn't injured.

Have you considered the fact that she really likes the sport she's doing. People have won Olympic golds with broken ankles. And I'm sure you know her well enough to know that she wouldn't have gotten stronger and maybe not underrotate her jumps. I have no idea what you have against her. First you attack her character and then stopped because I made it known that I knew her. Then you attack her shaky skating because she was injured, then you blame her for wanting to skate through the injury.

First of all I really don't know that you DO know her. From what others who skate with her have told me, she is a little diva at the rink, thinking she knows better thanher coach and acting like everyone else is in her way. Her skating is shaky with or without an injury. She has always underrotated her jumps, so her injury didn't cause it, but if she had rested instead of doing stupid shows where she sucked anyway, she might have healed faster and been able to fix her crap jumps.

I do agree with Courtney about under rotating a lot of her jumps. She gets eaten alive at international competitions because of it. BUT! I think she has more potential than any US female skater right now. Her quality, flexibility, and expression are great, and she does very well under pressure. And she's still young! If she can keep it up, I think after 2010 she'll start to blossom. 2014 is more realistic than 2010 for Mirai.

I don't think you realize how hard it is to sit out a season, especially if it is an injury when you can still skate and especially at this age, when you are trying to make a name for yourself. She obviously doesn't underrotate everything when she is healthy. If she underrotated all her jumps there is no way her technical score would have been so high last season. Even if you think she should have stayed out this entire season, no need to act so hostile toward her.

No one said she should have sat out the SEASON. She should have not skated in the shows that she did last summer when she had already injured the ankle. THAT was frickin stupid. She's old enough to know better. If she's skipped the shows she would have been in better shape in the fall and not bombed on the GP and at Nationals. You really shouldn't judge her. Sure she had an injury. And she grew. But she also uses skating as a social hours as well. Miri also let having a social life infer with her skating. Honestly I do think it is partially Miri's fault. But you really don't have to be so rude about it. She is an amazing skater. She did grow quite a few inches but so did Caroline and she isn't using the sympathy card. Plus you honestly can't say you LISTENED to everything people have told you to do. Come on.

OMG, I was soooo hoping that Mirai and Caroline were gonna be on the world team. Now, neither of them are going. What is wrong with US Figure Skating?! I know her performances were flawed, but I don't see Caroline or Mirai falling in the whole competition, while the winner (Alissa, bless her heart) fell and landed only a total of 5 triples in both programs.
