  • This film is a classic, with the stars involved and Carol Reed at the helm, no wonder.

  • Does Oliver really do the twist?

  • love the way that guy says MMMMOOOORRREEE?!?!?!? lol!!!!! also love this kind of this preview, 60's are so wierd, but love the movie!

  • Love this Film and "I'd do anything" is the best song in it.

  • @Mattis659 Yes it is! And it is really good. :)

  • Oliver completely deserved Best Picture it was a universal experience that didn't go for special effects that help to age a film and thus the film is still as strong today as it was then. A terrific movie musical experience

  • 2001 space odyssey deserves the title, not this.

  • @cxmichelle 2001 was crap.

  • this is seared into my mind from my childhood and i love it

  • In 1969 at the age of 13 i went with a school pal to see this movie. At the intermission

(For those of you that can't remember this was a break in the film to allow you go to the foyer

and top up on popcorn & whatever else you fancied) So off i went to the foyer and got 2 large ice creams. I got such a shock when i put my hand into my pocket and found that someone had snatched the only £1 note that i had in my pocket. Great memories of Oliver..

  • I remember watching this movie so many times as a kid (and young teen). Such fun. :D

  • nancy dies

  • Oliver is sooooo damn cute!!!!!

  • Love the way the fat dude (Bobble I think) yells, "MOOOOOOOORRRREEE????" as if hes never heard the word in his life lol

  • This 1 is the best of all the Oliver Twist i've watched ^^~ i finally found the ver tat i watched whn i was a lil kid...i was only 6~ cheers~

  • how did this win best picture and 2001 a space odyssey not get nominated

  • @vadimzdonutube

cos spaceodyssey was a boring movie with or without drugs lol

  • MMMMMMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEE!!!!!!????

  • jack wild rocks!!

  • i loved this movie. i was surprised to hear it won best picture. but i can see why. to make it better i think they should have added as long as he needs me (reprise), and my name, that would make it ten times more epic and amazing than it already is. i am thinking this is a wtf oscar win like crash and hurt locker and maybe even chicago. but it is amazing both on stage and on the big screen.

  • I love this film im 15 going to be 16 this and I have the film still ...when I was in primary school we had to do a play and I knew everyones line and they could only hear me

  • What happened to great loveable movie musicals like this?! Oliver Twist had class, was fun to sing along too, and was also charming.

  • This is what I watched over and over on DVD as a child before I got into Harry Potter. I knew every single song by heart and I was OBSESSED with Jack Wild! I wanted to go back in time and steal him!!! Funny how it kind of set me up to love Harry Potter, since HP draws so much from depictions of Dickensian London. I LOVE YOU JACK WILD!!!

  • @Chizpurfle52595 exactly how i was!! this used to be my absolute favorte movie!! and i had such a huugge crush on Jack for years!!

  • THEEEEEEEEESE SASSUGES AREE MOULDY SHUT UP AND DRINK YOUR GIN

  • THEEEEEEEEESE SASSUGES AREE MOULDY LOL!!!

  • Great musical!!

  • Nancy's is soo amazing<3

  • Dodger is soooooooo cute

  • @TiMoune118 Dodger can be seen in the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

"You take the one of the left, I'll take the one on the right!"

"Which one is the one on the right?" <-- Dodger

  • i can not survive without watching this movie at least twice a day lately. i think tim burton would do a fantastic job of this movie! i love it more than my own life!!!

  • THIS moron directed “The Third Man”? I don’t think so.

  • Love love love this movie!

  • Is the movie Oliver Twist?

    Thanks

  • MOAR?! :)

Personally, everytime I heard that phrase in this film, it scared me shitless.

Also, I used to have a crush on the character Nancy :D

  • This is a real musical with a really good storyline. Unlike that high school musical sh*t

  • R.I.P. Jack Wild :/

  • UGGH I NEED THIS MOVIES SO BAD I CAN E IT IN MY MIND

  • Nooo fagin! artful dodger is the greatest man! EVER! :D

  • we're doing this at school, CAN'T WAIT!

  • I have seen it befor it is very long but very good

  • Man, I remember seeing this when I was in 3rd grade. This movie brings back so many memories

  • 2001: A Space Odyssey sucks so much balls compared to Oliver! Definitely deserved Best Picture/Best Director over 2001.

  • @nerfballs2000 no you see 2001 if you look up what it is about i piss alover any movie made not saying oliver is bad shit i am bill sykes in my musical i love the play and movie

  • @mcrenren Well I was being sarcastic in my comment, but sarcasm doesn't translate on the internet. Oliver isn't a bad movie, but definitely a WTF Oscar moment. It stands with Kramer vs. Kramer, Ordinary People and Dances with Wolves, as lesser films winning acclaim over greater films.

  • @nerfballs2000 thats true man i see were your comeing from sorry if i sounded like a ass hole

  • LOL! at 3:39, It says Oliver, but I saw Liver. :D

  • this is awsom i think it is cool when bill sykes dies in the end

  • @1:37 looks well dodgy nowadays... a grown man bending a kid over and undoing his belt?!!?

  • WTF??

  • Please sir i want some more. MORRRRRRE!!!!! I love that line

  • this is so much better than the 2005 one:)

  • i seen this today at my school

  • Once when I was nine I was sick off school and I watched this 5 times in a row. It's an absolute classic. No-one could ever make a remake half as good. It never gets old : )

  • jack wild forever !! i love you

  • Oliver rules!!!! It is one of the best musicals EVER!!!!

  • my school was doing this as a play and i've learned every song by heart

  • (dodger stands there, smiling cheekily as usual)

fagin- he's gonna turn into a right little ba- bill sykes...

    lol he was gonna say b a s t a r d! ohhh, i <3 Jack wild! R.I.P jack

  • jack wild is such an amazing actor. he is the reason i fell in love with this movie! a great artful dodger! rest in peace, you are missed.

  • I think Oliver! deserved the Best Picture Oscar. Although 2001: A Space Odyssey was really good in some areas, Oliver! was really good overall. But it is hard to compare a musical to a Science Fiction film.

  • showstartsatdusk you are so right oliver is the best movie ever made my first movie back in 1968

  • ive met mark lester and ron moody

  • We watch movies in our music class and we were watching this one. I was literally shaking when Bill was beating Nancy.!

  • :'( ive just found out that the artful dodger has died!!! i miss him he was my favourite charecter from oliver :(:(:(

  • Absolutely bonkers choice for Best Pic of 1968. Oliver is a good movie, but that was 2001: A Space Odyssey's award.

  • @Stephanie3189 I actually thought Oliver! deserved the best picture oscar over 2001: A Space Odyssey

  • Who did Rossiter play in Oliver! I've recently become a fan of his and never remember seeing him!

Oliver is the best musical ever!

  • Mr Sourgrass the undertaker. The equally great Hylda Baker plays his wife.

  • It was Mr Sowerberry, am playing Mrs Sowerberry in theatre production in March...great fun!

  • Great movie by a great director!

  • awesome! i usually DESPISE musicals. I know the kid who shouted "These sausages are moldy!" his name is Clive Moss, he looks super different now. he's really funny.

    and jack wild ROCKS!

  • OLIVER! is the greatest musical ever made. To see this in a theatre is a REAL event. As great as any movie can be.

  • @showstartsatdusk It’s not even close to being the best musical film of the 1960s. How about “The Sound of Music”? That has much better songs. Or “West Side Story”? Unlike “Oliver!”, there’s an attempt to move away from the inherent fluffiness of the genre- and it also has much better songs.

  • @HenryConway007 BOLLOCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • @MrDaiseymay “The Sound of Music” does have MUCH better songs. Off the top of my head: “The Sound of Music”, “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?”, “My Favorite Things”, “Do-Re-Mi”, “Edelweiss”, and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”. Name me a song from “Oliver!” that compares. “West Side Story” is not realistic, but it does make an effort to deal with street gangs. By comparison “Oliver!” looks like “Mary Poppins”. Besides, it also has much better choreography, and “America” is a pretty cool song.
