not really. people's preferences differ. JHud isn't exactly fat either. she had to actually put on a bit of weight for this role.
They actually touch on this in the film. The lack of "symmetry" was possibly one of the reasons Effie was sacked - and definitely one of the reasons Deena was made to sing lead.
This must be from the DVD set as it seemed more expanded with the background dancers. I don't remember seeing them on HBO but to tell the truth its hard to watch the entire movie as I can not stand either eddie murphy or jamie foxx they should have used terence Howard for both parts did you catch him on the BET special with Beyonce and destiny Child's singing cater to you ?? HOT HOT HOT
I must say, Beyonce REALLY nailed so much of Diana Ross' persona and movements right down to the facial expressions and the way she carried herself. Great job all around!
because after seeing how deena was being pushed more into the spotlight and getting all the attention she became irritated and decided not to deal with it. Keep in my mind she is pregnant as well.
more specifically she saw in the monitor that the camera was focused soley on Deena and she got pissed and stormed off...thats why in the next scene she says "you dont need me, all you care about is her boney ass"! i love that line, almost as fierce as the orginal version but the way that Bill changed it for the film worked too! :)
GETOSUPASTAR, what about when Jamie Foxx, told Effy, "get yo ass back in there", and Effy looked at him SO CCCOLDDD, and said "OR WHAT?!", left that dude looking like bo bo the fool...LOL, then she said, "I DIDN'T THINK SO"...ROFLMAO, man I loved this movie.
O lemme tell you, before the movie came out that scene was in one of the teaser featurettes that the studio released, and the first time i saw Jennifer say that i almost died! lol i LOVE that look she shot jamie and she delivered that line perfectly! :) Yes (as u can tell) i loved that movie too...but if you've never seen the original stage production u got to! Its the hottest show ever!
considering beyonce has emulated much of diana's life, it's only fitting she'd know the moves too! she nailed it!

often she put her mix out of the micstand and went in front of flo and mary out the camera was focused on her
later she was called miss ross in interviews and mary and flo just mary and flo
she was put in the center more and more and mary and flo were blended out...
