In 1999 I was in Atlanta, at the airport, and a very young soldier was asking on a nearby desk if there was space on the plane, to which the attendant told him there wasn´t. Suddenly a businessman, maybe in his 60´s with a very nice suit approached the clerk and told the attendant he was going to trade his seat with the soldier. The young man said "no thanks", but the man told him "listen son, you are not going to contradict me on this", in an authoritarian but friendly manner...

I think the soldier was young enough to be his son, and he was very happy with what had happened. They went on having a conversation, but I had to board and didn´t saw what happened next. But it always amazed me the respect people showed to the soldiers. You might not agree with the policy that sends them out there, but you have to respect their courage to go there.

I remember this clip. Was in a sports bar of rough n tumble blokes an gals and I had just gotten to America. When this started playing it got very quiet, you could hear a mouse. Gals became teary and then the guys even and toward the very end the entire pub exploded in applause I thought the walls would fall. That's the first time I really realized what Americans were made of ....GRIT, IRON and HEART.

Today I was coming back from vacation in Florida and saw a U.S. Army Sgt standing with his partner. It took some guts for me to walk up shake his hand and say welcome home sir, because the look on his face was lonely and nearly depressed. But Ill tell you after you get that thumbs up and smile from them, you feel like a million bucks the rest of the day

A friend from work sent me this video and my eyes filled up with tears. I lost my fiancee a year and a half ago in Iraq. Everytime I see a soldier, I stop what I'm doing to thank them. EVERYBODY needs to do this. You don't realize HOW MUCH they appreciate OUR SUPPORT as a country! God Bless

I heard from my son on Friday. He was on his way to Iraq. There were several stops along the way and at one of the stops, there was a group of veterans there to greet the soldiers.

They handed the troops each a pair of Bose headphones. "That was nice, huh Ma?", he said.

That's what I call supporting the troops!!

It always amazes me when our troops are greatful for small gestures from civilians when THEY are risking their lives, missing out on so much at home so you and I can live and live WELL.

I don't think you understand the meaning of this commercial. Its about thanking troops for showing the courage to give up life as they know it to serve their country. These are the same people that will be protecting us if an attack occurs on American soil...show some respect to them.

I'm against the war in Iraq...but I don't blame the soldiers over there because they have no choice where they are deployed to. Its all in the politics.
