I have read some really bad racist comments that people have made, though, and one need not look too far around this forum to find them. So nikhi does have a valid point, in that some will use any excuse to hate. I think some try to "cloak" or "excuse" it as being a critque of his performances, but obviously if they are using racist, hate language that gives the game away. For the love of Pete he is not tone deaf (rolls eyes). Tone deaf applies to most of those people who are shown during the audition process. Sanjaya was praised by the judges early on for exactly that...having great tone. He also engages a lot of sophisticated jazz intonations, which is not an easy thing to do. The judges bashed his early performances on the show as too timid and restrained, but NEVER brought into question his actual vocal ability. THAT was the media and the armchair bloggers.
