Why is birthing a competition between women? I screamed bloody murder the last two hours of labor (23 hours of non medicated labor). I wasn't a drama queen, or a first timer. Everyone's body is different, and everyone's pregnancy and labor is different…therefore the level of pain will be different. 77MommaBear96 having an easy labor doesn't make you a better mother, or stronger woman. In fact you seem pretty childish, and insecure. I'd say you are a poor role model for your children indeed.
in Italy epidural is usually denied and these screams are considered to be "normal"... (just like in Holland, I've been told.) so I don't find this screaming funny =_=
Good question! Of course cesareans are made under anesthesia, but there is hostility against epidural. It is thought to interfere with bonding & breastfeeding, and to manipulate mother's perception and inhibit her "empowerment". IMHO, childbirth is still considered to be a "rite of passage" in which a woman has to show her courage to face pain. I know it sounds odd but you should discuss with Italian "naturalist" midwives. Cheers
@ChiudiLaPorta Oh...I see what you mean. Of course, I don't agree that a woman should be expected to go through hours and hours of excruciating pain just to prove that she can bring a child into the world, bond with it, and raise it well. Childbirth being a rite of passage sounds quite archaic and albeit a bit stupid...I'm one of those who believes that we should make good with our technological advances in medicine and not attempt to bring it on back to the stone age...but thanks for the reply
Look at what our poor moms go through while bringing us into this world in pain. I was born in the late 80's myself. My mom is in her early 60's believe it or not, im the last of her 3 other children in which were all born in the 70's so i don't know if they had as much medicalized childbirth like they have today
that woman that is screaming, i thing she have a natural birth without epidural, have some womans that feel more pains than others. Sorry my bad English :).
With epidural the woman dont feel the worst pain, and give birth without feel a thing.
Shame on you two, laughing is respectless, if that is doing a man ok but a Woman too? Would Be ashamed of having such a stupid man! By the Way Why didn't you Show us your labour of you are so brave...???
@ritalopes1000: animal in the jungle? i birthed 3 babies naturally w/no drugs while on pitocin and never managed much of a squeak let alone a blood curtling scream like that. give me a freaking break. that was either a scared out of her mind first timer, or a drama queen.
if you thought childbirth was that horrid get drugs...duh.
@SinclairisCool Pitocin is supposed to be used to induce labor or increase the strength or duration of contractions for the health of mother or baby. For me it was due to my having gestational diabetes. Pitocin is suppose to make the contractions "stronger", thus more painful for some women. its a "jump start" when they aren't coming as fast as they need to

that's right! it just doesn't show how much it hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I lived the same thing. the screaming is a way to try a relief. what's pointless. only the baby out makes it better. DON'T GO THROUGH THIS! choose cesarean if you can. vaginal birth is brutal and stupid. nobody deserves it. and don't blame yourself if you don't want to be a true animal in the jungle. avoid the pain, you need to be fine when your baby arrives. natural birth is better my ass! bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those screams next door aren't very reassuring for this mother to be. You HAVE to send this in to "America's Funniest Home Videos" if you haven't already.
i had that when i went into hospital at 5 cm dialated, some woman was screaming and i started crying lol but still had a natural pain relief free birth! :) but only noise i made was grunting :)
I work in a hopsital as well and know HIPPA quite well. While this is not maybe the most polite video in your eyes, it is not a violation of patient privacy, nor could a person sue. There is no use of the patient's name or any of the medical information. Being a nurse who is in L&D frequently, mom's are allowed to be as loud as they want but this does not make it illegal for other families to have their video cameras rolling in their own rooms.

Two observations on this:
I used to work in a hospital and can tell you for a FACT that I've heard countless MEN scream alot louder for ALOT less painful procedures than giving birth.
You are in violation of the privacy rights of your fellow patients by recording them and then doing a public broadcast of such. If that woman ever finds out about this it will be HER who is laughing at YOU..as she collects on her lawsuit!
lol'd! Yeah the women is gonna find this video (which said was in 1990) and than identify her scream which I'm pretty sure a million mother's giving birth do. And just sue :P derp derp derp.
That is hilarious! I would have been bursting out laughing! The dad was trying not to laugh the whole video! The second scream was like she was being murdered!
Ha Ha ha (sorry) But my wife screamed a couple of times like that with our first of three. And now that they're teenagers the screaming is back . Ha ha Just kidding. Sorta. The look on your husbands face is like ho sh*t is this what's gonna happen next. Congrats on Your Baby.
the nurse told me the same thing and my husband told her to get the hell out of my room and never come back. It was a rough delivery and I am about three months away from delivering our next child and really hope it is not the same way.
I WAS that screaming woman!!(not literally, I live in the UK) .... I feel her pain... I didnt even care about the racket I was making though, felt embarassed afterwards though!
I can only speak for all my friends who've had children already, but it really seems to depend on a lot of factors. One said "it was like someone stabbed me from the inside out", and another said "there was really no pain, more like an intense pressure". So, I really think it varies widely. On thing seems to be true though, Pitocin makes labor a million times worse. The "stabbing" comment was made by my friend who was induced with Pitocin.
I've heard that too, but i have had 3 pitocin induced births and gave birth natrually w/no pain meds so i have nothing to judge the pain of pitocin labor vs. non-pitocin labor and i handled it fine...matter-of-fact i watched TV through my last labor (between contractions) lol...so yes even w/pitocin women differ from one to the next.
Oh thank god it wasn't me (neither of my kids were born in September). But it could have been. They told me they could hear me in the lobby on the floor below me. Having babies doesn't hurt *that* bad, but I'm a complete wuss, so...
when my wife had our first child, her "breathing" exercises were great: she just said "epidural" over and over. she got one, and the delivery went great - for all three of us!
LMAO!!!! OMG!! I have never seen a maternity ward like this. All the ones I've been to had private rooms & the nurses only let one person at a time in. It sounds like she's being murdered!!

wowo that was a loud scream! i think alot of women scream out of frustration as well as the pain! i went through 32 hours of very painful labour without making so much as a grunt! so every woman is different - u shudnt automatically think that becos someone is screamin that its gonna b unbearably painful for u too.. its not always the case ;-)
Hilarious...but at the same time I feel sorry for the lady next door. This is one reason why I don't want ot have kids. It looks and sounds awfully painful!:(
