  • if you have a tiny bit of plastic, blowing a jet of air on it while stretching it taught will make a loud high pitch noise

  • Use a small rolled up wet leaf for the ball to make it an interupted chirping whistle.

  • I love it!!!.my dog hate it

  • Choconut bwownie's comment made me facepalm

  • "You can be a little bit bigger, a little bit smaller, it will still work just fine."

  • pretty slick

  • @ gnamp it's named after it's p shape and it is really affective and works great

  • 7:58 thats what she said

  • just made it and work awesome

  • Is the whistle-design so named because it is P-Shaped or because it typically has like a pea in it?

  • it sounded like a firer alarm

  • Brilliant and useful, and a good guide. Also, I find it impressive that you managed to somehow do that without cutting your fingers on the tin edges.

  • thx so muchhhhh awesome im 11 and i understand this

  • thx so muchhhhh awesome

  • Awesome! Make more bushcraft projects! :)

  • or u could just use a plastic piece and stretch it get it very close to your lips close them enough to leave a little space and blow into it... :) time saver! aaaand it's louder! too

  • Made one last night. Very easy to remember and only took a minute or two! Good vid!

  • 1:40-1:45 well said man!! :)

  • Nice.

  • i made a wallet sized survival stove small enough for the tin and make fuel as well by saoking cotton in vasilene and then soaking it in wax let oit dry and you got a awesome stove desinned by friartruck

  • this is cool i literaly just made one and it works u just have to position it just right

  • dude awesome! i got it on my 1st try oh and you could put a fishing weight in there like normal whistles, that is awesome

  • i made it takes a while to get it right but when i did it made my mum jump lol its well loud thanks

  • Simply awesome

  • this is sooooooooooo coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool another whistle thing

  • Can't wait to try this

  • Also (and btw you may say it later in the video, but I have a bad habit of telling my tale in the beggining of the videos) yelling is limited since your vocals can get tired. Or if you are really cold, you may be unable to do any sounds thus blowing into the whistle may do the trick.

  • where can i find a link to this josaih? that you got the idea from?

  • I would rather blow a whistle using my mouth & two of my finger....

  • nothgin wrong with that except that this will be louder and need less energy...

  • @cutlerylover Personally, finding a can, cutting it up, folding it just so and then managing to hold on to the thing in just the right way would take *much* more energy than just moving my lips and tongue a bit and blowing. Not to mention that thing isn't nearly as loud as the sound I produce when loud-whistling. I also have my hands free to 'aim' the sound, like a loudspeaker. Took me an hour to learn. (not the low melody-whistling... the loud whistling!)

Always carry a real whistle too though.

  • @nikhilnw and also i can't blow using my finger so this might come in handy

  • oh my word, thats really cool :) that really will save lives... thanks a bunch for this and respect to the guy who discovered it . i just made one and wow its surprisingly loud! amazing stuff!!!

  • SMAAARRRTTTT!!!!!!!!! i'm gonna make 1 right now!

  • thanks! this worked the first time i tried it!

  • When you ad an airsoft bb you have a homemade pea whistle ;)

  • hint hint the smaller the louder

  • I just made this in about two minutes. Mine turned out quite a bit smaller than the one in the vid, but it's so loud.

    Great vid!

  • aluminum, to be correct.

  • Thats just freakin AWESOME!!! great vid

  • Lol Jess wen you blew the whistle ya scared my cat.

  • i defened my mom (by accident) with it

  • great video, cool thing to know

  • Gonna store that sweet info in my melon. Who knows when I'll need it?!!

  • Thats way cool

  • asome

  • After you make it put a 12g airsoft bb(plastic) and it will sound like its tripping

  • ty men very cool :)

  • sweet it works

  • thx alot i like your vid

  • Yo man cool vid and big thumbs up!

  • omg dude stop commenting just move on to someone elses video!

  • PWND

  • nice so loud

  • its so fucking loud if u doit right

  • WOW! That is awesome. Very thin and light weight, ideal for any survival tin. I wonder how many whistles you could make out of a beer can? XD

  • budweiser hahahaha

  • Thats brilliant. 5 stars...

  • that awsome 5 star usefull

  • it works awesome i also put a little ball and made the real sound of a p whistle

  • hey why do they have that little ball in the wistle

  • to make the whistle sound different thats all the ball will turn with the air and sound different

  • lmao i wonder if a lil 6mm bb would work

  • probably i have like 4000 im gonna put like 4 in the whistle

  • yay

  • i really appreciate your videos.. i love knives and zippos.. u should make a video on how to finger whistls.. i just cant seem to get the hang of it

  • cool video. thanks for passing on the knowledge.

  • cool video. thanks for passing on the knowledge.

  • my fingers arn't as big and meaty as yours...=(

it won't cover the whole sides...lol

  • make a smaller one?

  • Mmmm.... Meaty fingers.....

    lol :D

  • Hahaha :D

  • shouldn't you just get a whistle in your survival tin or attached to your belt?

  • Well if you dont have, this is a very good advice...

  • can you show it without the scissors?

  • awesome dude, I made one and it worked. Hurts my fingers after awhile.

  • just wondering but where do you discover all these techniques and skills?

  • You could always crinkle around the metal alot but thats not as loud. Its more distinct though

  • cool !!

    im making one !!

  • tried it however when i tried to whistle it made partly a decent sound, i think it was the last stepp i mucked up on

    5*

  • spiffy....i sort of want to get lost in the woods so i have a reason to make one!!! lol..jk jk ^_^

  • you could also use the tin for signaling.

  • ahhhh thx man. that was a great tip i made one while watching your video. and it worked like a charm. thx. keep em' commin'.

  • great instructions....easy to make, works pretty good thanks

  • im gonna go make one right now

  • Thanks for the instructions jeff cool whistle from a can now i'll never go into the woods without a canteen some granola bars and a big sharp knife.

  • Neat whistle. But 8+ minutes, holy cow! Blah blah blah...

  • where all drunk (btw i dont drink im only 18)sitting at the bar, "i bet all you 5$ that i can make a wissel out of that guys beer can"

man o man you could make some mean money off that

  • if you can find two flat surfaces that are fairly resilient, you should be able to make a loud sound as well, not a whistle but loud enough for someone to hear (the same way you can make this sound by blowing the right way into two tightly pressed peices of paper) i've done it with leaves before.

  • haha i just made one thats so cool lol

  • Perfect!!!

  • Thanks for the video. Sometimes I whistle when I pee too :)

  • Great whistle, very loud. Important survival skill because 1) whistles are louder than yelling, 2) using a whistle uses a lot less energy than yelling, 3) its impossible to yell when you are very dehydrated. Thanks cutlerylover, great instructions.
