Noor's voice only got better and better with time and age. Khawaja Sb.marhoom was a bit insecured in his later age and said such things about Noor out of jealousy as he was out of work and Noor was busier than ever. Plus, she might have drank socially but she definitely was no alcohalic, Jimmy. In the eighties, though her range was shortened but the tone quality was at its best. Just try to feel the natural harmonics and echo in her songs of 80's.
I don't understand the point of just standing there and lipsyncing her own songs. Pakistan TV obviously lacked creativity at that point I guess. I love Noor Jehan, and her songs are what I want to hear when I'm dying, but this is just silly.

One should admire Noorjehan's talent; and courage, even if she's 'lip-sync-ing'--after all,such videos are mini movies;and she is singing her own song. The lyrics are so good, and moving.I could not find that ghazal inthe Diwan of Ghalib that I have!I gave the song and lyrics a 5 star!
This is not from Tarannum. lekin Tarannum ki recording kay dauran song Sagar Roay (Koel) jab koshish kay bawajood Madam say nahi gaya gaya unkay apnay meyaar kay mutabiq to unhoon nay producer ko bola kay isko to as it is janay dein magar kuch aur songs par main lip-sync kardeti hoon..which she did on a number of songs.
Shes mere lip-syncing on Tv. was sung for Lahore Radio basically. Reason as quoted from Khwaja Khurshid Anwar "Noor Jehan nay pata nahi kya allum ghallum kha kar apni awaz kharab li hay" aur such bhi yehi hay recording say pehlay dekho to paao paao bhar achar kha rahi hoti thi :)
doc, paao bhar achar wali baat sahi naheen, ye to saadat hassan manto saheb ka reference that jo logon ne criteria bana liya....awaz ka farq age and drinking aur phir beemari...
The only thing I dont like in this is, that obviously everyone thought that the viewers were jaahil, and will not know the difference. But why on earth did she had to lip sync this ghazal, why not drop this ghazal altogether.! atleast kuch to bharam rehta. Although I love her a lot, but sometimes, you just cant ignore everything that is wrong!
