Under the best care, boas and pythons have gotten respitory infections and died. There is no way they could survive anywhere in the US outside of the Florida Everglades. Thanks to the idiots who have released their snakes in the wilds of Florida. It is sad that the animals that were released will no longer receive the proper care that their owners should have given them. How bout manditory micro-chips for large boids with fines to owners of released or escaped animals.

What is all the fuss? Killing animals is our way, right? Like the time I hatcheted up a snake, because it threatened my begonias. Or the time I watched in delight as the nieghbor shot a dog for barking at a horse.

That is our nature, right?

B.S. Nature is when a snake in the wild, stalks and captures it's prey. Or a hawk or an owl scoops up a rabbit, mouse, etc. Not when some idiotic punk goes to a store, buys live baby mammals, and puts them into a small cage with a snake, then videos it.

So why is feeding any other pet live to a snake ok?

Is say Ban and charge the people who feed live animals to them. The first thing these people say in there own defence is do you eat meat? I say sure but it is dead when I eat it. I wouldn't bite into a live cow now would I?

These videos are nothing more than sick, depraved, animal abuse! In the wild, bunnies have a chance to run away instead of being eaten. Not so in these horrible videos! While I don't like snakes as pets, the least you idiots that make these vids could do is to feed already dead food to your snakes, and to NOT post these sick vids! Common animals are boring?

well all i can say is that the USA doesn't have any "special animal"- meaning that all the common animals are BORING, only some states have beatiful birds, but i just think that this is also becoming a problem because the fear of snakes.

Unfortunately, the most invasive species in the US is one that will never be listed because they are thought of as domesticated.... cats. housecats kill more wildlife than people realize, they are not hungry, they kill for no reason other than to kill. If they can overpower an animal, they will kill it, including native snakes, lizards and songbirds.

I agree with you on the house cat problem...This is definitely true.

My work as a wildlife rehabber taught me about the astounding carnage these creatures do. And yet people let them outside and just dump them when they get tired of them,just as many snake owners have done. Released and breeding boas just add another problem to our native wildlife.

On the up side,maybe the boas will take out some of the feral house cats.

People cats just run wild and shit in peoples guardens. If my dog was running arround shitting in peoples guarden in would be a big deal or if my python gets out his viv and eats the neighbors cat its both our falts not just the snake owner. That cat has no right to run around outdoors freely and spread disease and shit all over the place nore is it a native species. The problem,as I see it,is not only are people live feeding and posting said videos on You Tube(Which is very ubsetteling to rodent and rabbit and bird owners),when these animals get too big to manage,they are being released and they are breeding in the USA.

These reptiles are not native to this country and will do great harm to our native species.

for every person who posts such videos on YouTube, there are hundreds, if not thousands more, who feed Frozen/Thawed prey items and never video it for YouTube. I ONLY feed F/T to my snakes, the only live food in my home is crickets & mealworms for the lizards that are not herbavores.

I have sent in my letter and all that. This is so ridiculous. give the feds a foot and they will take a mile. This is a problem for Florida and Florida only. No python can live in ares with temps of 50 degrees or lower. Nor a humidity level of 20% or lower. Florida always has high temps and high humidity, almost year round. Some cultures have been known to eat humans. Horse meat is big in Japan, France, etc. Do I want to see this crap when I search for videos, of live feeding? The morons who post these have grave issues. Anyone who derives pleasure from seeing a creature suffer is very sadistic.
