there so cute! they look like a rat and a squirrel had a baby. then the baby had a baby with a guinea pig. then that baby had a baby with a chinchilla or something. =p
m4rk- It sounds like they've never been friends. If they aren't part of the same family they wouldn't get along. Also, what first started out as a dominance fight is now probably stress fueled, as you never let them out to play. If it's that bad, take just one out at a time.
i could never have mine out of their cage. i have two males (father and son) that dont see eye to eye. i built a 6 foot cage just for them two, with plenty of toys and things to climb.... they still just fight, and cant get their hierache sorted... yesterday was pretty bad so i had to separate them...
if i let mine out id never get them back in, and they would fight over who owns the room...
any suggestions on how id get them to be friends again?
Sorry, but what is this for a teacher who tells you that a small pet belongs to a rolling ball? That is the worst thing you can do to a pet!!!! And if you like pets, you never put them in a think like that or in a to small wheel!!! Please, don´t do it to a degu or a nother pet :-(
i just heard from my teacher, since i have class pets as degus that they explore and are hard to catch. which is y it is best to put them in a rolling ball or in a cage:)
pretty easy just stick there favorite treats in there tell them to go home and then put them back in the cage, after a while they just go back in there even without treats in there, its like training a dog there pretty smart little fuckers
Can you help me please ? i had two degus but they fight so there come blood! i sold one of them , but now my degu are sad! please , please , please help me!
it's better to have at least two of them, they can't stand to be alone.
^ True, but make sure to get two of the same sex, these things mate faster than rabbits! I had 2, turned into about 10 in 6 months no joke! They are so smart, they always escaped out of my cage too. They aren't a cross between anything, but if they were, it'd be similar to a gerbil/chinchilla cross
when they got out of my cage the ripped the wallpaper off, chewed most of the cables, my bed, skirtings, door, clothers pretty mutch everything and they had food in the cage. the been out of the cage i believe for over 6 hours
Calling all degu experts, I need a little medical advice, can you watch my video Prozac Isn't Feeling Too Well? If you know what's up with him, please, I'm begging you, message me! He has me worried.
How big are they about? Roommate I used to live with claimed how he wanted a Degu in the future. Don't know if that's still the case...but just curious.
little bit bigger than a hamster when they grow up, but less than half of a chinchilla.
they are pretty intelligent for a rodent and really cute:) but it's better to have at least two of them, they can't stand to be alone, mine died after her sister passed away
I don't know why... but watching degus do anything is just so fascinating & fun. Even if they don't move around much. "What are they going to do next?" I love the deer in the headlights impression. Super cute!!
the one on the right is almost still for the whole video!

whats a degu? it kinda looks like a gerbil...
Shadowpuppt 3 years ago
A cross between a squirrel and a hamster, although it probably has an intelligence, not that far off from a squirrel! :-)
They are far more active than hamsters as well, especially in pairs or groups, but alone, they seem to act much more like a hamster...
The word of mouth is, if you do decide to purchase a degu, please make sure you get at least a pair of them! Thanks... :-)
