• Arguing with believers is a false dance. It is false because it is a ritual without blood. There is no order, save that which death has put there.

  • A child, in order to be able to come into their own, as an independent sentient individual, as callus and as savage as it may sound, the parents, must, and inevitably do pass on. As a species, for us to further evolve, in our minds, God Must Die, as that is from where he was originated. We must finally ween ourselves off this crutch of ignorance, and revel in our abilities as mere microbes, in this infinitely vast Multiverse, and indeed in the beauty of just the one Universe we can discern.

  • relgion the last refuge of the scoundral

  • Dinesh actually insulted Hitchens. The last resort of a desperate argument.

  • Is time for people of reason to raise up and finish all this.

Ridiculous, idiotic religions all of them. This people have done way to much damage in the name of imaginary gods.

Science flies you to the moon

If money is the root of all evil, why does the church need so much money?

God made me an atheist. Who are you to question his wisdom?

I just talked to god and he says he’s a gay pro-abortion Atheist! Now, prove that statement false

  • What a grasping and weak conclusion by D'Souza...wow, epic fail.

  • I am deeply, DEEPLY offended as a free-thinker by Dinesh's comment that "we don't believe because we don't want their morality to get in our way." How dare he say such slander. This is no different to him saying "... NUH-UH, YOU'RE JUST CLOSED-MINDED HAHA I WIN!". Ludicrous. My disbelief in the supernatural is rooted firmly in their being no sound reason to believe that any of it is true. I don't feel "better for not believing", I feel better for having reason to accept my views as valid.

  • Dinesh is totally full of himself aka full of shit.

  • Christopher Hitchens is GOD

Nine out of 10 suicide bombers agree: God is Great

Religion is a virus and knowledge is the cure

You can be good without god

There's only 1 thing God lacks, and that's existence.

Just because you believe something does not make it true.

The possibility of a god does not increase the possibility your religion is true

Religious sounds dandy, but so do unicorns.

You do not need the bible to justify love, but no better tool has been invented to justify hate

  • @vincentk99143 I want to love it ---(where-ever you got it) except "religion sounds dandy"? ---you must have copied. At least I am giving you the benefit of this doubt in an otherwise clean octalog (8). Am I right? Yes? No? It's ok, so, the Q: Why do I say this? A: Because who-ever this is from and it well may BE you, it seems (out of place) as all the others are sound/cute, yet would you not agree about sentence I mentioned. Seems awkward. LeMarc

  • So Dinesh thinks morality involves commandments that one has to follow? That's not morality. He clearly doesn't understand what morality is. I wish Hitchens would have said something about that.

  • i would have to say that anyone claiming dinesh to be an "idiot," is convoluted at best, he is a truly impressive debate expert...but this debate just goes to show you that Hitchens operates on a completely different plane than even the most elite, well read, sourced, and academically gifted. He is a true inspiration and his works will echo on the walls of eternity. With love and great humility i say thank you for your contribution is goes neither unnoticed or unappreciated.

  • Whoa wait, they didn't say who won!

  • I didn't know Hitchens was anti-abortion.

  • @AylaPersephone he's not strictly anti-abortion, he recognizes what a complex issue it is, and that the decision should be left to the relevant parties, and that those parties should be well informed and taking their situation very seriously.

  • Because I made the opening statement, I will make the ending statement. As stupid as you can get.

  • @guitar789 Actually, that's the current North American standard for debate. Look up American or Canadian Parliamentary debate, and you'll see that the first speaker always gets the last word.

  • @OrrWilson Which source is this claim based on? Couldnt even find it on american wikipedia.

  • @guitar789 Wikipedia American_Parliamentary_Debate_Association and National_Parliamentary_Debate_Association. See 'Flow of the round' and 'Rules of NPDA Debate', where the Prime Minister or Proposition speak both first and last. Same goes for Canadian Parliamentary.

  • @OrrWilson Ok I read something about the prime minister and 2 teams consiting of two people, where the proposition starts and ends. Not sure if it can be applied to this non political debate though. But if this guy in the video is referring to debate standards, then you are right. Just sounded to me like he made this up, also see christophers reaction being upset and souza cocky appearance at this moment. Also hear the laughter of the audience.

  • Fellow atheists, Dinesh is not an idiot, and claiming that he is certainly does not help your case. The greater stance is to realize that very intelligent, rational individuals such as Dinesh can be genuine theists. What does this say about theism? It means that the views held by theists can be adapted to withstand the obvious truths about reality. That in some weird way, they can be compatible. Dinesh has developed false assumptions of the world before applying his rational mind.

  • "No one is forced to convert to islam"? What about every single child of muslim parents that has ever lived, who has been told, from the moment they could understand the words, that the sentence for apostasy is death. That their religion has been decided for them and that if they are anything other than a muslim they should be killed. How is that not forced religion?

  • @kairobinson Same goes for xtians too, children tend to follow their parent's religion until they decide to change. Also this apostasy you talk about is not entire true. I know tons of muslims who renounced islam for personal beliefs and never got harassed for it(I got aunts, uncles, friends) and thus far I see no death warrant hanging over their head. The apostasy thing came way after the death of the prophet by a certain caliph. agreed some arab countries are guilty of this in this day and age

  • And I dare say Dinesh made fine points in this debate and so did Hitchens but no all the comments I've heard so far is Dinesh is a fool,a bastard, idiot,a liar this and that. I don't entirely believe what he said but for the most part Chris's argument doesn't have proof as well..the situation is 50/50..could be there is no god, could be there is really a GOD. I do believe in a higher power at least..why the fuck am I here for then??lol

  • Did that piece of shit lying bastard really come out with atheists just want to sin? Seriously!

  • oh ffs just listening to Dinesh makes my head hurt, it's the same shit that's always spouted and the same straw-men always burned.

  • Dinesh pulled the same old tricks out of his ass as every creationist. He even hinted upon pascal's wager somewhere in this debate. What a piece of trash argument. It has been debunked so many times by so many people. I'm glad Hitchens went out of his way to make a different argument about it than is traditionally posed because I can't stand to hear people rejecting the same solid arguments time and time again.

  • @TumshieX I think it is inprobable that religious ppl would respect an atheist because he makes sense when he bashes religion. I just can't imagine them saying in their head....yah this guy is actually making sense, but fuck it, he's wrong ! The moment they think that they are subject to doubt their fate. What I suspect happens in their mind is more like: Bla bla bla...shut up damn it I wanna hear Dinesh speak !

  • I just notices 2/3 of people don't have the attention span or intellectual mobility to sit through the entire debate, *I use debate loosely*

  • WoW this Dinesh guy is....I don't know, I think I have a new standard for stupidity. I think I'll call it "Dinesh"

  • Golf fucking clap, Dinesh.

  • Someone who worked for Reagan talking about morality? Someone smells of hypocrisy.

  • helluva backtracker

  • D'Souza deserves a broken nose for that insultsing characature of college students. We know more than you think, you arrogant, solopsistic, superior, stupid, deluded, grovelling, ingratiating bible-thumper.

  • Dinesh looks like a gnome.

  • If I ever decide to invent my own language the words "Dinesh D'souza" will be used to describe the state of mind where you are "too stupid too know how thick you are".

  • For a debate on religion, rather than Christianity, there was an awful lot of talk about religious concepts that are, ya know, Christian. I'm not even sure, given the nature his arguments in particular, that D'Souza is even really capable of such a more abstract discussion.

  • No compulsion in religion under Islam, eh? With the alternative being a death sentence, enforcing Islam in countries with Sharia is something even D'Souza might manage. As for mounting an even vaguely solid challenge to Hitchens, he's way out of his league.

  • Dinesh was really hard to listen to in this final part. I think he is out of his league here.

  • I think Hitchens closed this debate really strong. The beginning was a little weak compared to many of his debates but he was still hammering Dinesh.

  • all the adults with imaginary friends always feel like intellectuals are so smug, yet they have an imaginary friend for adults who tells them there always right, they alwasy project what they are feeling and wish was true about themselves.. but people are growing up and no longer believe nor need santajesus or thinking from empathy linked to a imaginary friend for adults, i feel sorry for the indian hes pathetic

  • D'Souza's last argument leaves me stunned...

it sounded like something VFX could have said

  • Notice how Dinesh horribly begs the question.... egads, thats tough to watch.

  • I've seen so many Hitchens debates in my time, but I'd say this is the one that is the most one-sided of them all. This is possibly Dinesh's worst attempt to date.

  • The reason people disagree with religion is because it's fucking incoherent and not true!

  • I found Hitchens got more and more support as the debate went on. That is, people applauded more and more. I think it means more and more people on the fence really started to side with him. Also, I think the people who were religious to start with and on Danish's side realized that Hitchens has solid arguments and they aren't based out of contempt, arrogance or selfishness etc, but out of very solid reasoning. So even if they didn't end up agreeing with him they probably started to respect him.

  • Dinesh claims religion is not forced upon people. BS! Young children are effectively forced into a religion by the positional power held by their parents. It is no coincidence that once distanced from the influence of an organization that demands blind obedience and acceptance of its teachings and introduced to an environment in which critical thinking is paramount, the college student relinquishes his/her religious beliefs in favour of a rational and evidence-based view of the world.

  • @bizz0y You are merely a walking pile of particles which will soon turn to dust and be forgotten within a few generations. Why should anyone care what you have to say about anything? This is the fact all unbelievers MUST face. So, in the spirit of your belief, I render your point as I regard a patch of mud.

  • @ProToolsAudioSource Many of the particles I was composed of two years ago when I commented on this video have already moved on; certainly the ones that made up my skin and hair. I'm fine with this. The rest of your comment is rather ill-formed: You asked a question and then stated it was a fact. Had you said "No one cares what you have to say about anything", then we could better evaluate the truthfulness of that statement. Ironically you clearly care because you responded.

  • What an absolutely idiot Dinesh D'Souza is...

  • @vp1981ad While I disagree with Dinesh, give him some credit. He raises a number of interesting points (e.g. the basis of today's morality is its Christian heritage), and is obviously highly intelligent.

  • @vp1981ad

While I don't agree with him regarding practically anything or everything in this debate, he's clearly far from an "idiot".

  • well, can you trust all those wiki entry? anybody could change/edit the info... plus, it might be 'platonic'. Good one though, illwrath!! hahahah

  • dang...dinesh tick me off with the whole thing about 'morality', i don't even have words for it how poor his 'arguments' are..

hitch DESTROY this guy; it's unbelievable (pun? hhahah) that he kept on going like a little kid, curbing/bending over at the end to appease the audience ("..it's not directed to mr. hitchens..", etc), where are the integrity & balls?? it's dudes like this one that make christianity seemed fake, hypocritical, wicked, and just...ball-less..

  • It true, the abortion statement is the Only true or intelligent statement of any issue he ever makes..and it makes me so proud of him to be able to make it. I give him one clap for getting something right.

  • Wow. What a low, desperate blow from Dinesh. I wouldn't know how to begin explaining the differences between a secular humanist and a nihilist to someone like him who would require such an explanation. Or maybe he does know, and wanted to go out with a bang. Either way, he indicts himself as either ignorant or immoral respectively.

  • The reason why I do in fact want to evade the morals of christianity is INDEED because those morals are antithetical to my happiness. Here is just a partial list: I do not give to the poor. I do not turn the other cheek. I judge early and often, but try to do it fairly. I am not humble nor do I consider it a virtue to be so. I do not sacrifice my own interests for the sake of others. I would kill someone that was an immediate threat to me or my family. Is that enough commands broken?

  • Hear Hear!!

  • D'souza is a grade A douche.

  • What a poor finish from Dinesh, it's the same cretinous twaddle one always hears from fanatics. It's the "you just don't believe in god because you don't want to abide by his rules" nonsense. Then makes himself look silly by claiming Hitchens is the on who doesn't know anything about physics (even though most physicists are atheist/agnostic), history, and theology simply because Dinesh repeatedly failed to sneak bullshit past Hitchens.

  • Indeed, by the logic of Dinesh we should be a lot more worried about some rather less benevolent god than the one most of the christians seem to believe in. I would be a lot more worried about Chtulhu.

  • Lol i take it you saw my background?

  • emm...what has that got to do with me agreeing with you?

  • Oh lol, nevermind. That was just a major coincidence wouldn't you agree?

  • Hahaha. That's awesome.

He is quite intelligent but could you please elaborate on him fucking Ann Coulter?

  • 8:08 maybe they do many things, least of which is looking at a freaking map of religion/denomination by region.

8:30 full of fucking shit D'Souza

D'Souza at 10:05 is basically advocating "faking" belief in a given deity because the framework it gives near the end, i.e. D'Souza advocates people to knowingly taking the blue pill every second of their life.

  • Dinesh is just silly.

  • of course religion is forced on you, if you're a child then your parents force it on you

  • Quite admirable how Hitchens is able to refrain from aggressive behaviour.

  • Yes, I agree that Hitchens was provoked and could have gotten angry, given what a rebel he is, but chose not to

  • I didn't know he was gay.
