  • hi buddy ive got ios 5.01 how will i do it i really need your help thanks

  • What I did was first disconnecting it from the battery and then pressing the power button 3-4 times in order to squeeze out any left over power. Waiting just a couple of minutes then putting everything back together --> NO MORE ITUNES ERROR 28 !! :) :) :)

  • I just can't believe this - but it's TRUE ! My iPhone is back to LIVE !!! Please let me know your PayPal address so I can send you money for a beer !!

  • Will this work for my iPad 1? I have no idea how it broke, but it was jailbroken and just stoped working. So please help or give me another tip. Thank you.

  • what i reck, and what i would do, is, dont, is is, do not yank, plz and i and i plz dont yank the mother board out ! GOT IT ! jus kidding,..

awesome video totally helped me out, thumbs up !

  • You seem to know what you're doing but next time please point the camera to your device instead of your face.

  • do i need to remove the motherboard. can't i just take off the ribbon connectors and leave it for and 1hour or something.

also, will it do the same job if i leave it uncharged for a week or something

    thanks for the help

  • PLEASE NOTE! If you have a 3G and not 3GS, don't try and lift the black plastic on ribbon 3. Instead, lift the white part on the opposite side of the black part. (Using a needle and be careful not to snap it off when you lift it up.) When its lifted, slide ribbon 3 into the black side, make sure to slide it until it stops, don't have to put much pressure, when its in, then close the white latch which will close the black part or the pins under it securing that ribbon.

  • Thanks for this info it worked !!

To disconnect the battery from the motherboard u just need to unplug number 5, you don't need to remove the motherboard screws for this.

There are better close up shots of motherboard access procedures on other Youtube vids

  • Hi, i did what u said and it didn't work for me,

    thx anyway

  • Didn't work for me... battery was disconnected for more than a day.... :(

  • Just done on a 3G, stuck in DFU after cocking about with jailbreaks, basebands etc, happy to report it worked for me, so many thanks for the tut

  • what is the purpose of 'airing' the motherboard? will it just work if i leave the iphone without the screen for 1 and half hours?

  • @MrGmanabc No it will not work.. I do believe i said it in the video.

Its to Unplug the Mother Board from the Battery, It lies on top of the battery and makes contact with it, lift it to disconnect from the battery!

  • Ty,i realy works.I don't know how you find this out but it realy works I cannot belive it.I broked some conectors(nr 6 the wifi conector) but overall it works and now i'm restoring it to version 5.0.1.Thank you and I apreciate you work.I will post an video of my Iphone disection :)) it was an very had one:))

  • well done.. only criticism is you did go on a little several repeats but i did get what i needed to know in the end thnx

  • To get the screen off, a good screen removal tool is a GPS bracket / handsfree from your car as it has a suction cup :) Cheers for the video on the breakdown. This fixed my Error 28 :)

Anyways a biggggggggg THANK YOU mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It works!!!!! Thanx!! Just fixed two 3GS's !! One on 4.3.1 and the other on 4.3.3 both with iPad basebands!!

  • do u really have to wait an hour and a half..? i need a fast forward button..

  • Hi thanks that help but one think don't need keep off for 1.5h just for 30 sec. soon you disconnect battery press power but 2 or 3 times that's lose power left in cycle then left for 30 sec , that's how you reset system. Then put it back together and work for me fine. Big thank for you. Cheers.

  • 3GS new bootrom 32gb iPad baseband worked like magic no lie... I almost broke #4 :P

  • I have iPhone 3gs new bootrom, baseband 5.16.02.

will it work, as everytime I try to restore, it gives error 28, and if I use iReb gives 1600 error/with tinyumbrella, without which i get error 3194....

  • tytyty so much dude, totally saved my iphone. gonna use this method again if it happens again

  • thank you, worked perfectly for my 3gs 16gb new bootroom!

  • thanx its wored شكرا جزيلا لك لقد نجحت 100%

  • Seriously dude I owe you a beer you saved my phone, cant say thanks enough!

  • does this work on ipod touch 2g?

  • @XxCLOCKZxX No, only iPhones.

  • well error 28 could me more then removing the logic board, if this doesn't work the duck connector could be bad, if that's ok the disk drive could gone.

  • @kwik13a sure, your not pointing out anything new, first of all as i said a few times in the video. this is for the software problem of error 28, OR if this doesn't work. then its a hardware problem. connector and SSD, ect.

all fit in the Hardware description. also the iPhones, iPods, iPads, all those don't have a hard Disk, they have a SSD, Solid State Drive. just saying ;)

  • I was very skeptic of opening my iphone for the first time but honetly I think its worth the try to get your phone back up and running. smoke a cigarette, blunt or drink alil brew to bring down the anxiety then pull out your eye glass screw driver... if you dont have one go to the nearest CVS or walgreen. If you have a suction cup in your bath tube you may need that to pull up your lcd glass. under the glass there are 7 screws that are numbered. unscrew in order then life up the board 2 dischrge

  • Thank you.. You saved my iPhone

  • so hey kid i was wondering how can i fix my ipod touch 2nd gen 16bg , it keeps erro 28 on my ipod... it there way i can fix it ...and my ipod keep not working keep making to restore why? when ever i am play games or music it keep shouting off.. grrl help me .. do u thing the software or the mother-bored is broken ?

  • @Lorelai2LOL Wow nice spelling Kid. so anyways, You can't fix it. like I've told people before. Error 28 = Hardware Problem. IF YOU JAILBREAK this fix applies to you. You didn't say anything about Jailbreaking.

I've taken iPod's Apart Before, its not the same as an iPhone at all. Out of all my viewers probably none could follow how to do it. (Without Breaking)

IF you jailbreak. you need to run this fix. if you don't it means you have a Hardware Problem. it cant be fixed. Get a new iPod kid

  • @joe746308674 I dropped my iPhone 3GS, and it just went to the DFU mode, it was jailbroken and unlocked on 4.1 and iPad base band 6.15.00, is there a solution for this conflict? Thanks, please reply.

  • @Zachriah1 you can try, but the liklyness is that it wont work and its a real hardware problem, therefore giving you error 28, but if you have a warranty i wouldn't try and just bring it over to Apple, they will fix it, but if you don't, your pretty much out of luck, might as well try then cause it might be your only hope.

  • @joe746308674 Well I didn't like drop it from like a far distance, it was like the height of a desk.

  • @joe746308674 Plus it had an otterbox..

  • Thanks

    It did worked

  • @ubdrift ok. do what the video says. iphone 3g and 3gs are almost the same on the inside

  • you can do this without the hardware, but youll need time. when it's stuck in dfu mode. Let it rest for 6 weeks. The battery wil be completely empty.

  • Yo help me pleasse i have a 2g iphone and the battery doesnt come off the motherboard that easily its connected with 3 wires.

  • need t omake another video with other camera look.. ur hands and phone ... better to se... how to fix dude :)

  • Oh and to ur reply i failed to state that i have an iphone 2g and it has its battery soldered to the motherboard unlike a 3g...

  • Oh that makes me feel better, but hey since the 3g iphone is different then my 2g so should i just dissasemble with the screws on the back side, unplug all cords that unplug, and where do i put in the pencil? Thank you for your previous reply

  • yo joe if for a 3g iphone u have to disconnect the battery from the motherboard do have to un solder(melt the metal) on the connecter cords and solder them back together? please help!

  • @sweeper0718 no you dont. i didnt do it so theres no need i dont know what you'd solder back the battery just lies on top of the mother board and the connectors just snap in like in the video

  • @joe you fucking rock !

  • @TheZach1201 thanks happy to help :)

  • Hey does everyone here own a mini phillips screwdriver or is there an alternative method to unscrewing the little screws?

  • so thanks your video i followed your instructions and it worked. but ive had to do this 2 times now. as of right now i have my iphone taken apart with a pencil in under the battery because it happened again... but thank you

  • @christiantheambition if your getting this problem over and over again it much be something your installing i see the comment under this says you got your first error with a jailbreak? maybe try an other jailbreaking tool it shouldn't make a difference but if it doesnt then whats the problem? if it does you wont have this problem again you never know most of the time it doesnt happen again so youll need to inform me on that and look into it

  • i jailbroke my iphone 3gs newboot 4.2.1 with redsn0w and it messed up and the screen would turn completely white for about 7 seconds, then yellow, than transform into a bad quality pixely weird color and stay like that, and it would stay in dfu mode other than that. so i tried restoring with itunes and it gave me error 28.

  • Hi Joe...

I have bought an iphone 3gs and it was already in "connect to itunes" error.

When I connect it to itunes it tells me the my iphone is up to date, so I think it was in 4.2.1 and when restoring it it gives me the error 28.

I have done exactly what you have said in the video... First time, I got the error 40 when restoring 4.1 with itunes, I tried again and it gave me the error 28, then i did disconnect the battery again and right now it keeps telling me error 28.

    Any help?

    thanx.

  • 5 stars thx

  • does this work for ipod touch 1g. I have error 28, and I am stuck in recovery mode, with the little itunes saying connect to usb. Please help me!

  • @TheInuyashaFan917 im sorry this will NOT work on ANY ipod taking apart an ipod is nothing like taking a part an iphone. ive done it an ipod is almost too hard to do anything inside. im sorry this will not work on your ipod touch. if you are determined to open it. find someone who open ipods for a living like an iphone/ipod repair store not apple. they will have the best chance to open it disconnect the battery and fixing your problem.

  • Hi again,

will this work with the iphone 3g?

  • @letigirl62 yes it will you will just have not as many connectors inside the iphone to unplug.

  • thanks! I took off the battery for about 10 minutes and now it's back on

I was on 4.2.1 white screen with error 28 when I try to restore.

  • hey thnx u very much...thnx a lot.

it worked for me 100 %...nice video nd nice explanation...keep it up.

  • will this work with an iphone 2g?

  • @TheSamF23 i do believe it will but i never tested ive only tested on 3gs and 3gs but it should

  • dude thankyou sooooooooooooo much only video that actually worked A +++++++

  • sorry but it doesn't work for me, maybe i was wrong, i disconect the battery from motherboard, and then i put a pencil like you do on video and then 6 hours later im trying to put on itunes but the same error came in.... i'm doing right??? or how suppose to do?

  • @WiZoOo23 i would need more info on what type of iphone you have on what system... MB or MC and how you think it got to that error... i can look into it and get back to you

  • oooooooooo woooooooooooooooow thanks so much its done.... man thank you

  • This is a shocker Joe...I have an iPhone 3g giving the same error. When i try to jailbreak it, it stops at DOWNLOADING data to hard drive. With itunes it gives error 28. :-) let me try you guide and come back at ya

  • thanx m8 u just help me like a hell...thanx again keep doing amazing things...

  • Awesome, Awesome, AWESOME!!! Worked like a charm! Thanks SO much! 1000x easier then replacing the glass..lol

  • You ROCK! I've been stuck in a DFU loop, nothing worked, not IREB, umbrella, nothing. Kept on getting error 28 until I came across your video. Thank you so much again.

  • Thanks Joe it helped and i have a working iphone now

    Thanks to you.

  • Hi

If removing err 28 is only to disconnect the Mother board from the Battery can i try letting th ebattery dry dead ...

Would appriciate if you could reply today itself.

  • @ajeet229 no i do believe someone else asked the same question. conformationally the answer is no your battery is probably dead already, your battery had a discharge on the motherboard and as long as its connected it keeps the charge active so you need to unplug and wait for it to be used up and the only way is by disconnecting it from everything else.

  • guys blive it or not i fut this was strange but it worked, im currently running 4.2.1 , i just hope this does not happen to me again!

  • This fix worked for me on error code 6! So don't give up (I tried at least 20 times before I tried Joel's fix)! I opened my iPhone like Joel describes in his video and then I restored and it worked:-) This guy's a genius! He's the only one on youtube with this method, so try it!

  • hey joe... thank you so much... good thing that you posted this video cause i couldnt find any solution for this error 28... two thumbs up!!! ^^

  • worked for me; thanks joe! may God bless you with a new webcam sometime :)

  • I HAD DFU LOOP from spirit2pwn I TRIED EVERYTHING. THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS IS THIS AND IT IS EASY. THANX MAN

  • err...can send to Apple n fix it?

  • @cngohms kinda. jailbreaking is legal now so it doesn't void the warranty anymore BUT it can void the warrenty what i am is that if your iphone is under warrenty and you break it like a broken screen or it just stops working they will replace it even if its jailbroken because of the warranty. but if your iphone is jailbroken and it stoped working because of the jailbreak then you cant. and because error 28 is because of spirit2pwn they cant fix it without you paying 180$ or more if its not under

  • nice instruction bro, you safe my iphone 3GS. thank you very much

  • now i'm in progress follow your instructions. i'll be waiting for about 1 hour disconnecting battery.

  • hey man great vid this help me big time i was trying to jailbreak my iphone 3gs to the new firmware and i installed spirit2pwn and i couldnt get out of recovery mode it wouldnt let me restore and i was hopeless and at first i didnt think your vid wasnt gonna work but it did this vid helped alot thanks man

  • can you just wate for the battery to drain? it takes like 5-7 days i think.

  • @KIRI3IW no your battery is probably dead already. your battery had a discharge on the motherboard some how. and the only way you can kill it is by disconnecting it from everything else. sorry waiting just wont help.

  • need help i got stuck in dfu and connect to itunes is not appeared in screen when i restore only lights is comming out as u said same thing happen when i install that spirit2pwn in cydia, i try to follow your video maybe this weekend hope it will work

  • @KENDELKRAM please let me know and like the video if you need help just comment back and this worked for hundreds of people so im sure we can make it work.

  • @joe746308674 i got it fix i just get a hard time returning it coz i damage the rubber on the side a little bit but its now great thanks for that but im a little afraid now to try my 3gs to jailbreak it lol...

  • @KENDELKRAM just use the limera1n jailbreak... dont install spirit2pwn or JBme2pwn and sn0wbrezze thats no good anymore i would just say go to the limera1n site like i did and jailbreak it with that... unless you need an unlock. then i would say sn0wbrezze to retain your baseband but if your already on 4.1 then just use the limera1n. happy it worked out.. like the video if you can thanks joe

  • Guys this video works for error 28! I have proven it. My phone is already back to life. Spirit2Pwn has destroyed a lot of iphones. Avoid it! you'll end up voiding your warranty ( if you still have) Good luck

  • I wasn't able to find a way around it.. once you get it back together (if you can... that #3 is a bear to get back on, so be VERY CAREFUL), you should be able to install your ipsw the first time. I couldn't believe it.

@joe726308674, putting #3 back on was the hardest step, hands down. i actually ended up breaking off the black part... oops.. hope it still works.. hahaha.

  • @gerritjoertel lol yes it should still work just dont break the white part because then it wont work again.. but yes just the black wont be a problem and im happy it worked out in the end. please like my video if you can.

  • is there another way to fix the error without taking it apart?

  • @Font3not no... not to what i know of this is how i fixed 3 peoples iphones.. and now more on youtube
