  • I must have been very frustrating for the girl who plays Maria to have to do this with such a flat Anita.

  • and i feel like there was NO movement at all , idk i just dont like it :l

  • so unemotional

  • God, this Anita is painfully flat throughout. Awful

  • Orchestra is too loud. Singer is not loud enough. 'Nough said.

  • @Bieberfan12364 not on youtube, sorry.

  • @Bieberfan12364 Which scene do you mean? i have all the musical numbers and dance numbers on my profile. thanks

  • This seems really emotional distant, especially from Anita. This is supposed to be a really intense song and it was executed rather boringly compared to this song's expectations. Sure, they hit most of the notes, but it was so emotionally detached from the song that it didn't sound good. Even if I knew nothing of the musical, the words alone could tell me that they weren't feeling what they sang.

  • @risinwriter Well it certainly did not seem that way in the Theatre - I went to the live performance and it was a very emotional scene between the two performers. This production was awarded a NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) award for the best amateur performance in the South West so not everyone shares your negative views!!

  • @LindaMagic1 Good for them! I don't know how the rest of the show was so I am simply commenting on the footage of this scene. That's just my commentary and opinion. It is an emotional scene, but the emotion just wasn't translated well as I know they could have, especially if it was an award-winning performance.

I still think that if it did win such an award then it was probably for the rest of the show. It is good technically, but I still think it lacks emotional strength. Get what I mean?

  • I think the director didn't understand the roles...Anita is the FAR superior role to Maria. Its not the lead, Maria is, but Anita is more demanding, vocally and acting. The casting should have been opposite, I think.

  • Maria's part has a higher range. Can the tall girl hit that high Ab? (Which I think it should have been, but she goes out of tune a lot) If not, that is a deal breaker.
