  • Awesome!!!

  • i play guitar okay but i can't strum with a pick. it always sounds bad. i'm a bad strummer

  • So, I can strum down, or down and up? Thanks!

  • Very good!

  • What guitar are you using?

  • It's a Taylor. I just don't know the model number. It's very expensive.

  • Great lesson...right hand is very important into the guitar performance...We might have

a very good chords vocabulary but with not a very good understanding of right hand we actually are missing one part of the guitar technique.

Also I really like so much the message over the last part of this video.

    Thanks for the amazing contribution.

  • lol, what dvd? 3:20

  • @roozerockz I think it is "the scientist" by coldplay

  • which song is this?? can anyone plz tell me :)

  • lovely lesson

  • this will help me a lot! I don't have my guitar in hand right now but as soon as I get home I'll practice on this for sure. What I know in guitar I learned by myself and I have lot of trouble with the strumming. The sound is not really clear but I'll try this technique :D

  • thanks for the great lesson

  • i also started to play guitar. This is good video, i wanted to see how should i strum, because all the time when i strum, i feel that my strumming (hmm how to say this in english) is heavy, and sound isn't that good. At least here i can see some tips how to avoid that

  • Down up down up up down Im trying to remember that lol

  • I have a habit of strumming down all the time and when the pick comes up it glides straight over the top and i try strumming up the pick flies out my hands flicking off the first string - can anyone here help me?

  • Start with easy chords first . Easy chords to practice strumming are: G Em C D

  • @wanderatlarge everyone knows those chords, yeah those are basic, and that one is an extremely common harmony pattern, but I think what he was looking for was to give interest, those open chords are more interesting that... G Em C D

  • Can you post up the chords you are playing please? I just started learning guitar & this is a great thing your teaching. Thanks.

  • Thank you

  • appreciate the pick explanation, I strum to hard with kind of a in

    between thin/medium thickness

  • can someone write down the chords he's using(:?

  • @KateeyDeviantArt think the chords are an E major chord to an A sus2 to a B sus2 with the first 2 strings open (B and e) and C# sus2 with the 2 string open again, then to a E sus2 down on that 7th fret of the 5th string. standard tuning by the way.

  • Can someone please tell me what chords he's playing?? they sound super nice!

  • NICE

  • Hi could you tell me strumming pattern for words of love by buddy holly like down and up etc I really would like to learn this please help

  • i came here because of Roberta Flack XD his voice sounds familiar

  • hen strumming up , do you still hit all the strings? im really having trouble with the upward strumming.

  • @ClubPenguinDisney It's up to you! Do whatever sounds and feels best to your ear and particular playing style.

  • i think this is rly cool but its kinda frustrating wen u find vids like this but they dnt tell u wat chords theyre playing... i wish this guy wud have and instructional on how to play these chords.

  • @24guitarboy

He ain't showing you chords in here, just the strumming training. You'll learn the chords in time. Also, i would advise against jumping into barre chords off the bat, as i said - it all comes in time.

  • some1 tell me what chords to use pls D:

  • Wait- whut Celtic stuff?

    \\m//

  • can i play this on acoustic guitar, and how can i tune the guitar on good sounds?

  • What chords are you using?

  • Great video, Thanks so much!

  • Hello! I have a question. If I change from the G chord to the C-add9, the G string rings out when I change positions. Should I use my left hand to mute it or just focus my practicing time on making a very fast and smooth chord change?

  • Awesome clip, I made it to the celtic strum, not sure how you did that

  • hi im new in guitar playing.may i know the chords you're playing with..

  • made me happy .thanks mate

  • I like this guy's teaching style. He relates! Keep on bring it like this. It is very much appreciated!

  • Fisrt of all I want to say that this video is perfect for learning strumming patterns. So thank you for that! :) Second, I have a question: what Taylor guitar are you using here? It has such a warm and rich sound! It's AMAZING!

  • nice video !!!

  • Thank you Paul. This is a big help! I've been playing for 2 years and haven't taken lessons, and am wanting to learn different strum patterns. I love your heart for worship an it's a blessing to hear you help others enter into the Throneroom of grace. I pray God continues to equip me in this ministry. Blessings!! :-)

  • @omarbon23 so weird, I'm left handed,but I play right handed guitar...

  • He seems like a really nice guy...great lesson, thanks!

  • 2:10 to 2:20 .... that's what she said

  • what a lovely man

  • Can i get the chords he's playing?

  • @ike5121 at the beginning E, F#m (or A with F# as bassnote), F#m, H and later he is adding A and C#m

and for the "smoothy" sound, you always have to let ring the B and e string

  • how is that, i used electric guitar. do you think it is better than an ordinary guitar to play for a beginner like me?

  • What chords is he playing?

  • try guitarmanual.typepad.com/blog/ for beginning lessons

  • anyone knows what guitar hes using

  • @rtj182 acoustic

  • Ok so what do I do if I have an electric guitar that I can't plug in, isnt tuned, no metronome and Im having trouble with strumming the wrong strings when I switch chords?

  • @EternalDrummer1990 then dont play guitar

  • @aPlasticUtopia shut the fuck up.

  • @EternalDrummer1990 What do you mean you cant plug it in???

  • @EternalDrummer1990

    Just keep on practising. :)

You'll get there, it just takes some time.

Best is to practise for about an hour every day and you will learn how to play guitar well in no time. And just buy a guitar tuner, they are really easy to use.

    Good luck! God bless.

  • go to guitarmanual.typepad.com/blog/ or google guitar manual blog and see first result for beginner lessons!!!

  • sir i jus need a bit help of urs, infact a favour.. I coverd a song but my guitar sounds so bad even its tuned.. kindly if u could chek jus one vid of mine. Its called aey khuda cover.. Plz sir have a look at it n do lemme knw what could i do to get a sweet melody from my guitar....

    Thanks

  • I so wanna get Paul in my closet just so I can Look at pretty face and lay him EveryDay.. so hung,.... wonder what hungs mean..?

  • Is it normal to strum while moving your elbow? Normally I just move my wrist so I can pick faster, but is it different when you strum?

  • what taylor guitar is that?

  • CAN YOU HEAR THAT? CAN YOU HEAR THAT?

no there is no difference in your examples...

  • @proffsetjohan there are mate :P

  • @proffsetjohan

Actually, there are differences. They are very suttle but differences non the less. The thicker pick brings all the string sounds to the top, So you can make out every sound easier. I would use it for maybe heavier songs that demand a strong base line, or have a very driven riff. As he changes from thicker to thinner, it blends the sounds together a little more. That's why he prefers thin picks for open chords, so they all blend together as one sound. It takes practice to hear it.

  • i get questions on learning "when" to strum all the time and i've never really answered them well. I always felt that learning how to strum can only be discovered. I can only tell you "k, keep tempo, and place accents, and keep your arms moving". people can keep tempo, so thats fine. but for everything else, i can't just TELL you how to do it. You have to discover it yourself. If you don't have any sense of rhythm, you can't strum more than up-down 8th notes.

  • what chords is he using?

    and whats the strum pattern?

  • what chord was paul playing at 1:35?

  • @gcsupernova It is a G#m7, i think :D

  • @gcsupernova it's F#m.. :))

  • what are the chords he is using ?

  • Hey thanks....:D

  • That's what I need...more work on the down/up strumming! You helped a lot. Thanks!

  • that would be sweet if i knew the chords.. can someone tell me the name

  • It does sound like coldplay lol :) thanks, this help me explain it to a friend, ooh, what are the chords you did that sounded like the Coldplay ones, iv not come across them before, there really nice :)

  • lol this was awesome but he said "dont observe yourself getting stiff at times" at 2:14 O_o'

  • sounds like the scientist hahaha

  • this dude is awesome

  • It does sound like Coldplay!

  • Please view my video of opening act and share it with your friends please I need at least 20,000 views in a week to win the competition please watch my video and share it with other and may God bless you.

  • this guy is awesome

short video . but i learned a lot in the 3:28 seconds :D

  • Great Job!!!!! It made a lot of sense, and was very easy to understand.

  • Man this helped me alot of

    thanks you're my hero :D

  • oritee man what chords you using please ??

  • @CoverVlog24 doesnt matter figured it out :L

  • is that a Taylor :DDDD

i love that brand of guitar. :)

  • There are many wrong chords written in the comments. This may not be perfect, but it is VERY CLOSE to his Chord progression:

    E - A2 - A - Bsus2 - C#m - A2 - Bsus2 - C#m... and so on...

    Great progression!

  • @leetheiv hey i figured it out-it's E Asus2 Bsus2(the exception is that it's not barred, he's only pressing on three frets and not barring it.) that's why you hear the high E and high B all througout throughout progression

and then he plays c#sus2 the same way. with the C# and the two notes that mes it a sus2.

btw-i'm really trying to learn guitar-so maybe if you're a beginner like me we can help each other out or something

  • what's the chords played here? :D

  • @visualLuNa hey i figured it out-it's E Asus2 Bsus2(the exception is that it's not barred, he's only pressing on three frets and not barring it.) that's why you hear the high E and high B all througout throughout progression

and then he plays c#sus2 the same way. with the C# and the two notes that mes it a sus2.

btw-i'm really trying to learn guitar-so maybe if you're a beginner like me we can help each other out or something

  • whats the celtic pattern? I missed it...

  • could u pls tell me wat chord ur playing??

  • wat about the left hand... that's wat i don't know..

  • thanks...you're a great teacher & really inspiring..

  • what DVD is this from?

  • IS THAT JERRY TRAINOR?!?!?!

  • which are the chords?

  • this guy looks exactly like Joe Flanigan, just a bit older

  • Very nice Chord Progression What Is It??

  • i think songwriter4god has the right idea i know one of them is a barred b major chord on the 7th but with the b and e open, its probably why he says it sounds like coldplay cuz one day i started playing that chord and actually thought the same thing, and he said he was gonna play some opened note chords, the same can work on the A i believe as well on the 5th fret, nice sounding chords

  • When getting into some of the fancier stuff, you sometimes forget the basics. Thanks much for reminding me about relaxing with the pick. I was way too rigid trying to do the power chords and it sounded like garbage.

  • great teacher. Thank you.

  • I don't say that often but judging from this vid this guy is great teacher....

  • Thanks for this vid....i've been playing for sometime now but sometimes you gotta take it back to the basics.... this simple, user friendly understandable video was just what i needed to strengthen my foundation...thanks again..

  • @TheMajestic9 what chords are his playing. i try but they don't sound like his, maybe he got a finger or too lifted up

  • @Jean1juan ....i didn't get to analyze all the chords he played but i was mostly humbled by the basic strumming technique...alot of times players can get over zealous with strumming an their sound comes off choppy...sometimes you gotta slow it down an take your time to let the chords resonate..

  • Deze man heeft iets goddelijks ik hou er wel van.

  • i thing u would make a good singer too, cool vid man

  • Anyone know which chords he plays? The sequence of the chord progressions sounds really nice.

  • Pay attention. Key of E, so it'd be 1=E 2=F 3=G 4=A 5=B 6=C 7=D 8=E. And just watch his hand.

  • get 'em in your heart...

that sentence really moved my heart...<3

  • @trytojustify mine too :´)

  • The guitar he used is Taylor

  • can you tell me what guitar he used?

  • Simply marvellous! Good way to begin with.

  • That's helped a lot.

Um, what's the chord he's playing? I missed it..

  • @mrsellemby A minor and A with F# Bass I think, and Bm

  • sexy

  • make me feel so relaks ^^

  • that could be good song... 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 down up down up down down up down up down up

  • it honestly does help when he said down and up

i strum so much better now

  • I'm a beginner soo I can't really hear the diffrence!

  • oh i think i just got how to play. it was really helpful that he told us when he goes up and down. seriously :D

  • is that Paul Baloche?

  • yes

  • I love these sus's :D

  • ^^ <3

  • is he hitting all 6 chords x ?

  • Is there any vid that shows how to sturm WITHOUT a plectrum?

  • great video! Taylor guitars FTW

    I'm desperate T_T

  • man don't worry it's not that hard. Practice 2-3 hours a day and you'll make it easily :)

  • this really helped me!

  • just relaaax !! xD

  • Comment removed

  • that's reassuring.

i thought i was the only one who ever dropped their pick.

i hate when it falls in the sound hole XD

  • looool i always drop it in the soundhole and its nasty cause u get it out real hard xD

  • Thank you.

  • "try to relax that right hand a little bit, dont observe your self getting stiff at time, just relax..."

  • lol. 2:03.

    this guy is good though.
