I had the same problem with the change soul from one of my toys. It's a QC issue with certain cells. I still don't know how to fix it. I ended up finding an extra change soul on a yahoo japan auction.

They make more money by designing a cheaper toy that they know kids will still buy. They make more money of compulsory buys from kids than they do serious collectors who will sometimes skip items. Bandai America does the same with PR, but they've been doing it longer than their Japanese counterpart.

The bus one...who I can't spell the name of, the 'mustash' is reminesant of a Japanese or Chinese Dragon. Fits the feudal theme well.

I really wonder why they give this guy a wicked sword and give the main mecha some dinky little knife blade. I mean I'd have had no problem had they given it like a combat knife or something, or if they called it something other than a sword, but his weapon, not a sword.

Did this guy appear in the Go-Onger/Shinkenger crossover? If not, seems like a slip up.

Mnn, no, I don't think it appeared in the Shinkenger cross-over. They actually keep continuity for Go-Onger, as the film takes place after the series ended, so the Wandering Engines would be long dead by then.

Well, Gao Hunter (which ever ver. you shoot for- Evil or Justice) is significantly cheaper, but is older and harder to find.

Besides, all Engine Souls act exactly the same; the toy you put them in determines how they play out, but they are all self-sustaining. So I don't need a Go Phone to know how the Engine DaiShougun's cartridge would work.

Well, for starters I'd give it to one of those that came before 1992 (i.e. pre-PR); then later migrate to ones that came afterwards. A lot of the early ones were pretty awesome and lacking in collectible gimmicks.

Some of my favs (in no particular order) would be the BioRobo, DynaRobo, ChangeRobo, Daidenjin, LiveRobo, and [my favorite] Flash King.

Most of the later ones (PR-era) would be convertible right up until about "GaoRanger". While I like most of the mecha from there onwards (go MagiKing!), they get too gimmicky and might be difficult to transition to the SOC line.

Yes, either pronunciation of Retsu-taka would be okay. If you truly want to get technical, it would be "RETS-ta.ka" with the u being silent. Don't trip, I didn't even know about the u in "tsu" being silent until I read in the manga version of School Rumble about how the Tsukamoto sisters' last name is supposed to be pronounced. (This is odd, because in certain other cases, the u actually IS pronounced - usually in music - and in one case, it sounds like the u is pronounced but the s is silent!)

Just a few notes.....

1. Engine Daishogun's pretty sweet. That's the first time I ever saw a toy from a sentai movie. Do you know if they ever made toys of the Blast Buggy from the Dekaranger movie, or Unigolon from the Magiranger movie?

2. I hope Jumbowhale isn't the last toy you review. I'm DYING to see the ancient Engines.

Blast Buggy = yeah. Was released in America, but only in one of the SPD Adventure Sets (I forgot the exact name), so it's not too widely known.

Unicolyon = yeah, that's Saintkaiser...everyone knew about that. Released in America as the Steedergon Fury Megazord, but called the Phoenix Unizord in the show.

DId you ever see Bakuren'ou from the Abaranger movie? That was released as well, and given a horrible American release as the Blizzard Force Megazord. Everyone knew about this, too.
