Lana was the best part of this film, infact the jealousy from Lois over Clark actually gives Clark Kent value in this series (in my opinion). The humble man in the glasses always seemed somewhat overlooked in these films. Obviously it isn't enough to make us glad Superman 3 and 4 exists

lana was HOT, too bad this movie SUCKED big time. lester directed it and thats says A LOT! i loved margot kidder as lois, but man, she aged from superman 1 and 2 and especially in 3. she looked young and fresh in pt. 1, by pt 2, seems like she aged 5 plus yrs.

@Rainingagain1 That's not really a fair statement to say that A Hard Day's Night was shit...I agree it isn't that good, especially by today's standards. And the Beatles knew it wasn't great, because they weren't actors...they were musicians, and were being paid in the HEIGHT of Beatlemania to cash in on that phenomenon..I don't disagree that it isn't a great film..you're right. But looking back, it's really an interesing and nogalstic film..but shit? Time shows it was actually kind of decent.

Its a shame they didn't bring Annette O'Toole back for Superman 4! They could've brought her character back and it would've made an interesting storyline involving a love triangle with Lois, Lana and Clark. Annette O'Toole is clearly more beautiful than Margot Kidder. If you notice Clark isn't shy around Lana, he's more at ease and comfortable around her and Lana clearly has feelings for Clark. They had a mutual attraction and it would've been cool to see them become a couple.

Sure Lana was hotter. Lois / Margot Kidder (b. 1948) is a lot older than Annette O'Toole/Lana (b. 1952). In fact Margot is even four years older than Chris Reeve! By the third sequel Margot has obviously aged and perhaps the main reason they needed to include Lana Lang. Too bad coz Lois was best Lois Lane -- she showed right amount of spunk, humor, sexiness to the character. Producers just took soooo long to create a franchise. Also its the main reason a very young Lois for Superman Returns.

Kate Bosworth was too young in Superman Returns, especially considering she had Superman's child since at least 5 years, AND was a journalist even before that (3-4 years in the University), which would make her in her early 30's at the very least. Not 22 like Kate.

@BlankVideo88 No, four years is nothing. The reason they included Lana Lang is because Margot Kidder slated the producers to the press. As a result, they cut her part. And Robert Vaughn is in this instead of Lex Luthor becuase Gene Hacksman hated the producers too!

I was so upset that they didn't persue the Lana Lang angle in Superman 4. It would have created a pretty good love triangle. Even at the end of this one, when Lana shows Lois the ring that Clark gave her. Lois kind gets this look like she just realized Clark actually exists.

Heh. My cousin always hated Lois Lane and loved this scene because she was jealous.

I didn't like the "other" relationship, but it was sweet to see *Clark* developing a real relationship, and with someone who liked CLARK, not just Superman.

Even here in this old movie I prefer Lana over Lois!! I don't dislike Lois but Lana is just so much more likable, very sweet and friendly though a bit naive. Lois, who's got a great sassy and cheeky personality, is often quite rude and bossy. Though Teri's Lois is great! Too bad the writers made Lana such a negative character in the last few seasons of Smallville. She was a lot more like Annette's Lana in the first 1-3 seasons. Very sweet and likable.

@xld3000 Compare Lois 1st scene at beginning of film to this last scene where she looks aged and its because the character was written-out for a 3 week tropical vaction in Bermuda. When Lois arrives back at the end with front page story she has been spray-painted or made-up heavily with a tan and notice to highlight it more she is wardrobed in a white skirt and jacket with blouse and white chapstick for her lip colour. Its not so much Margot then 34 aged as the make-up,wardrobe,stylists look
