At least HHN scares I mean "REAL" Scares not scares to tweeners about the age of 13-16. I went last week and I don't know why they hype Knotts so much, honestly It's not very good the park is supposed to be jammed pack I went on Friday one of the PEAK nights and I was like uhhhhh where are the monsters? Some of the mazes had nice decor but the talent was as flat as a soda in the sun.
Then I went to HHN on Saturday and it was a refreshing change, sure they have 5 mazes and it was basically the same like last year but it still delivers awesome scares. And they'll scare anybidy I saw grown men jump up or cry out at the event something you see won't see at knotts because the majority of the scare actors are still in highschool
Well, not in general it just depends on the scareactors training for example OLD TOWN HAUNT in Pasedena they train their performers for a MONTH until the season rolls up and yeah the majority of them are in Highschool but by the time they are finished they can scare the crap out of anybody I am not sugarcoating it. However, I digress now I know Knott's has Scare Boot Camp and HHN has its Scare Academy because they both last about a week but the training they get is not extensive

So in conclusion can a Highschooler scare an older man? Yes. However, did I see it at Knotts and mind you I went two nights to the haunt, No I did not

See a grunt, shaker can, chainsaw would scare people not alot but some people and this falls under the category of a "generic" haunt. An innovative haunt would be something under the lines of the performers acting like the monsters they are portraying "not like a scare go back wait 5 seconds and scare again" but a right in your face mentality
Say like a "I don't care where you run where hide in back of I am going to kill you" People are much more frightined of that because you are invading their safety zone. When I worked for knott's I used to charge at people like literally run at them like a offensive line backer and that scared the shit out of them because they had no place to run they were trapped. What I am saying is a scare with intention of what you are doing and it falls under the lines of the monster you are portraying

A monster who tries to scare is better then a monster standing giving the evil eye
Also too after you've worked at a specific haunted attraction i think you develop what you can and can not do I think most monsters use that blanket the first year but after that they can become a more creative monster..

the story is about a manor with a bunch of spirits that try to take revenge on the living because of a murder and the victim is a little girl named lizzie. in the middle of the maze theres a little girl singing on the bed. thats lizzie
I must admit, it ooks awesome, but with the masks, they could've at least had makeup on underneath so you don't see the skin as much. But either way, it looks cool. Great job on the decor.

16+ nights for hours on end. It is very diffucult to yell at everyone but I agree 100% with your comment about the crappy masks and eye make-up. I worked at the Haunt at Canadas Wonderland and I was constantly complaining about the bad masks.
well then you should understand why they stand around. But i do agree with your other comments, I think you shouldent be forced into a mask if you dont want to and you should have make-up if you are awesome with your facial expressions. At our Haunt we always put on eye make-up.
my "murder" outfit is better than the costumes they are wearing....well i made my outfit out of a normal hood i ripped holes in so its only poissible to see the black of my eyes. =P
I havent gone, but I tihnk it would be much scarier if they didnt have a bunch of people walking around in crappy masks, but instead build the tension slowly, where it makes people slowly tense up, thinking somtihng is going to scare them, and as soon as they let their gaurd down "BOO!" then even people in crappy masks can produce a shriek or two.
i remember one time i went, because i go every year, that when i was walking through a maze...i turned the corner and one of those secruity guys that stand there was there and that even scared me lol

I used to go the "Knotts Scary Farm" as a kid and I don't remember it ever being that cheesy. In fact they used high quality movie type makeup and looked quite real and freaky, not those hokey masks.

OMG was that suppose to be scary?? If you think that one was scary than you should come to the one thats only three miles from my house. Its is rated the scariest in the state of Oregon and its completley dark. You can't see anything so you have to hold out your hands to touch the walls and stuff. But sometimes you touch one of the actors and its really scary because they jump out at you and grab you. Now thats scary!
its not scary because this is exclusive. they have a light on the camera on so and the actors or actress arnt even trying to scare them.besides if you dont like this one there are like other mazes :P
Definatly the scariest maze at halloween haunt. I went on this right when the park closed and they were sweepin people out, and we were the last ones, in the green room (with the plants) the fog was so high that we had to completely stop and wait for maintainence to come, so while we were waiting like 5 scares were just hanging around scarin the crap out of us when we couldnt see a thing lol! That guy that said Hi mom always says hi mom to a camera.

I used to go the "Knotts Scary Farm" as a kid and I don't remember it ever being that cheesy. In fact they used high quality movie type makeup and looked quite real and freaky, not those hokey masks.

I noticed that jsut about all the scareactors in the mazes all wear metal tipped gloves. they definatly add to the effects. where do they get them?

Knott's custom-makes them for the slider monsters. There's a bit more info on them in the "Season of Screams" DVD that Knott's sells at the Haunt.

All monsters make their own gloves. Knott's does make the shaker cans for the monsters though, but the gloves are made by the monsters

this is my favorite maze! It's just so damned creepy.. especially when there's no one really around and your alone in the dining room and shit's levitating! I was on one of the last tours through.I friggin got seriously creeped out!!

lol, at 1:05 the guy is like,"hi mom", but its not really scary because your filming like your just showing things in it like you have been through it alot

OMG was that suppose to be scary?? If you think that one was scary than you should come to the one thats only three miles from my house. Its is rated the scariest in the state of Oregon and its completley dark. You can't see anything so you have to hold out your hands to touch the walls and stuff. But sometimes you touch one of the actors and its really scary because they jump out at you and grab you. Now thats scary!

its not scary because this is exclusive. they have a light on the camera on so and the actors or actress arnt even trying to scare them.besides if you dont like this one there are like other mazes :P

Definatly the scariest maze at halloween haunt. I went on this right when the park closed and they were sweepin people out, and we were the last ones, in the green room (with the plants) the fog was so high that we had to completely stop and wait for maintainence to come, so while we were waiting like 5 scares were just hanging around scarin the crap out of us when we couldnt see a thing lol! That guy that said Hi mom always says hi mom to a camera.
