  • My belief is that god is never silent. He speaks to us in a quiet voice but its up to us to hear it. If you litsen closely, amd wait patiently, you'll hear his voice 3 beautiful song btw (: God Bless you all

  • This song...idk...it describes what I feel...? its a comfort to know Im not the only one who hears the silence...

  • so beautiful. praise God for this song :)

  • this is painful to listen to

  • I never thought I would ever be in this position. I was a Pharisee of Pharisee's, I see that now. My compassion for the lost is so much greater now. God brought me to my knees, in a manner that is incredibly painful. So incredibly painful. But the end result, the peace and joy that the Lord provides, is worth it. But it still hurts so very much.

  • 10 years ago, I would have most likely said the same thing KJVWordofGod said. But turning from the Lord, losing my wife, returning to drugs and so on. This song made me cry. The burden I have at this moment is great, a world of people who know me one way, and will know me in quite another soon. I will loose friends, clients and what not. He's not writing scripture, but singing his heart out. The intention is not a theological statement, but the human experience. I hope you never have to relate.

  • I agree with vg2011gmail and HonestRat. God will never let go of us; we are never really lost; the yoke is easy, and the burden is light; but sometimes none of those things FEEL true. This song is about realizing that the "Man of All Sorrows" knows exactly how you feel when you "pass through the valley of Baca." His Word remains true, and He remains faithful - and all the while, He is "touched with the feeling of our infirmities."

  • I love that the song is "real" not denying the truth of the Word but not denying the truth of our human experience with all it's emotion. David was raw like that in the Psalms. So many theologians want us to spout the right conclusions without realising that a conclusion comes at the end of the story not in the middle. A good friend is one who will hold your heart in the pains of life and trust the Spirit will bring you healing and the truth in the end. Few preachers trust the Spirit of God.

  • @KJVWordofGod (part 2) ...If not, please understand that many of us have. I spent years feeling like God couldn't hear me. It wasn't a matter of disbelief, it was a struggle with fear. But God had hold of me even when I felt like I would be broken. That's what this song is about. It's about what I struggled with. And it isn't dishonoring of the Word. It's encouraging to those who are hurting.

  • @KJVWordofGod I'm going to be direct and short in this because it seems your criticism "Does God honor him who dishonors God's word?" is more self-righteous than honest and humble. This song isn't dishonoring the Word. It's just an expression of a struggle. It's not meant to regurgitate Scripture in a superficial way. It gives empathy to the reality of doubt and temptation. Have you never felt that God has forgotten you?

  • Beautiful. Praise God!

  • "This yoke may be easy, but this burden is not "....NOT biblical... M't:11:29: Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

M't:11:30: For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Does God honor him who dishonors God's word?

  • @KJVWordofGod I don't think he's disregarding Scripture. I think it's a difference in definition between 'easy' and 'light.' The human experience is that we endure suffering that is, simply put, not EASY, neither simple nor care-free. But that said, our burdens are light compared to the burden Christ bore to the cross on our behalf. That we bear a temporal burden, far outweighed by eternal glory far beyond all comparison (2 Cor 4:17) is LIGHT, but not always easy.

  • @vg2001gmail ...see my reply to Tracie725

  • @KJVWordofGod ..He's just illustrating how difficult it is to cope with life's troubles; giving both points of view...

  • @tegunn ...see my reply to Tracie725

  • @KJVWordofGod When faith is strong the burden is light and hope comes with ease but faith is not always strong. This man has written songs from a soul strong in faith and he has written songs from a soul that is weakened by earthly attachments. If you expect to always be strong in faith you have placed a heavy burden upon yourself. Andrew Peterson is a minstrel. He writes songs not scripture.

  • @GLG1957 ...see my reply to Tracie725

  • @KJVWordofGod

I appreciate your strong stand on the Truth of YAH's Word, but the point of this song is not about that; it's about those times when we get hit so hard, hurt so bad, that we forget about His Truth. It's about the trial that is so devestating that we suddenly feel--wrongfully so--that His Truth has left us. This song merely validates those "feelings", but then reminds of us to look back again to that Truth to be healed.

  • @Tracie725 ...U do as all who rationalize.U like the song so U make "little" accommodations---meaning it's okay to misrepresent the actual words of God if one likes the song and hey, it doesn't hurt anybody right? Wrong. These days especially, when the Word of God is precious and rarely is truth heard or held in the esteem in which it should be honored...rationalizations such as yours are a failure of Christian duty and dangerous. The same goes for all who replied to my post as U.

  • @KJVWordofGod If you could just step down off that prideful, judgmental soap box of a self-imposed corrector or the Body of Christ for just one moment, you will plainly see that you've taken this song completely out of context. It's not about speaking YAH's Holy Word, it's about the lies the devil tells us when we're down.

I love your energy, commitment, and passion for YAH's Word, as that is rare, indeed, but it's misdirected at tearing down the Body of Christ rather than saving the lost.

  • May Jesus Himself be our very great & present consolation. If we have truly repented & believed the gospel of Christ & been born-again by the power of the Holy Spirit, our grief is but for a moment, but our joy shall be for eternity.

  • I post this on Easter day. The silence of the tomb (and a circumstance that may feel like a tomb) is where God does the work of resurrection. I speak from experience and testify of His goodness. Believe and endure. He is Faithful and True.

Thank you to Andrew Peterson for being faithful in answering God's call upon you.

May all praise and glory and honor be unto the Lord.

  • Please pray for me. I feel broken over infertility too. Five years of trying so far -- three miscarriages. Insurance won't pay for the treatments.

  • @wagglefam Praying for you. Keep your eyes fixed on Him. He is there, and He is not silent.

  • @wagglefam Ill pray for you. God bless you, and may He one day bless you with a beautiful baby if that be his will. Maybe there is a bigger picture to this too. Maybe he wants you to adopt? Maybe there is a precious baby boy or girl that is waiting for you to love them, who God knows needs a perfect family to be with. Don't give up hope, and pray.

  • @wagglefam My parents had to wait nine years before they had my older sister. They had almost given up. Keep hoping.

  • I know a woman who experienced a small severing from the presence of Creator. She called it a dark tunnel with no light anywhere. She and I believe that this severing from the presence of Creator is what Messiah suffered on the cross for us: the second death.

I experienced, once, the knowledge of existance without Creator. I'm not suicidal, yet I wanted to die.

    The silence of God.

  • My sister invited me to listen to this song. What a message. Every posting here is a prayer. AMEN

  • Listened to him in 2001.Beautiful<3

  • God is not silent, He speaks loud and clear if we will tell our souls to be still and listen. He is always speaking to us.

    Listening is the answer.

    Amen.

  • @FantasticlifeinJesus Sometimes God is silent, doesnt mean he's not listening, but sometimes he tests you, sometimes he tries to get you to seek him more, whatever he does, he does for your benefit

  • We had miscarriage today.... The silence can be so deafening! As if our Universe shattered in an instant. And we sit in the ashes and listen to the Silence of God, with a yearning to hear from him that is beyond baring . I hear 'the holy lonesome echo of the silence of God', and weep.

  • @Wratharri My heart breaks for your family. I originally put this video together because of our journey through infertility. Not the same thing as what you're grieving, but a shared understanding in part. I'm so sorry, and praying for you. If you think it'll help, I wrote a follow-up to the song, @ vangorden-vm.blogspot.com/2009/08/silence-of-god-part-2.html. The Father shattered His silence with the Man of all sorrows, Immanuel (God with us), and even if we don't hear Him, He speaks.

  • @Wratharri ... I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. MY SISTER AND I WERE JUST RECENTLY PREGNANT WITH THE EXACT SAME DUE DATE, SHE DIDNT WANT A FAMILY I DID, I LOST THE BABY SHE KEPT HERS AND GAVE BIRTH TO A BABY BOY.. HARDEST THING TO GO THROUGH! GOD IS A GREAT GOD KEEP YOUR EYES ON HIM!! GET THE BOOK PREGNANT WITH HOPE, IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE AND GIVE YOU SO MUCH HOPE!! I WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU, GOD LOVES YOU AND WANTS TO GIVE YOU THAT CHILD YOU LONG FOR!! GOD BLESS...

  • @Wratharri I wanted to update this, to let everyone know that in the silence it brought me to a place where my heart and soul cried out to him in an unfathomable way. He heard my broken spirit and met me there. Since this time we are expecting again, and I am continuing to meet Him, bringing myself closer to him, and listening to the ailence for every hint of his voice, thank you for posting this song/video. May God bless you and keep you.

  • @Wratharri im sorry for you, just remember, the baby in the womb of your wife is now with God! How old was the baby when it died? also, a baby is a human from the beginning of its conception.

  • it´s so amazing ... that word of this music is perfect !

  • the aching may remain, but the breaking does not...oh, wow

  • @HeidiSue60 My favorite line! :)

  • Ok now this is one of those songs that makes me tear up, seriously....the words are so dead-on!

  • @Afrinadian Me too. I think this is one of the best songs I've ever heard. God is amazing. He's there even in the dark times when we don't see Him. He said He'd never leave us and never forsake us and it's true!

  • Amazing song. Very profound!

  • <3<3<3

  • Amazing, that is truly beautiful song, I have been blessed, thanks.

  • blgross1: Enough said...you spoke the meaning of that song perfectly. Everyone needs God, every minute, every day.....even long-time followers.

  • I love the honesty of this song. As Christians, we think it's wrong to experience sadness--we have to rush in with happy little platitudes. But we have to be honest about the sorrow in order for joy to mean anything.

  • @blgross1 well said. not enough people understand this. sometimes i am one of them.

  • I watch this everday...

  • how beautiful is that....

  • So touching......... :)

  • Absolutely beautiful song

  • aww. so cute

  • Wow - very moving/touching song. We need to be reminded that when we feel all alone he is there - everything in the song is so true. Even Jesus in his hour of need was left all alone but he will never leave us nor forsake us. We may not feel him, hear him, but he is there! Thank you for this song!!!!

  • speechless.............

  • all i can say is WOW. God is always great :-)

  • Wow..........

  • Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for this video. I'm going through a very difficult time right now and it helped. Its funny I wrote a song with the same title- different lyrics of course but the same theme. I wrote my song in 2004 and my good friend Jim did the melody and instrumentals. It was our first attempt at recording so its not of the quality of this video but I'd appreciate your comments.
