As ashamed as I am to admit this, I'm actually partial to Ev's for short range shopping trips etc..
They make a good toy for quick short trips, but in Australia theirs too much open space to chew up your battery power.
I have been saving old Danfoss VLT drives from the scrap bin with the intention of getting one working and use it to power a small car via a 3 phase motor
In the mid 1990's Chevy leased out a few hundred all electric cars built on the Saturn line. I think they were in California. They worked fine too. When the 2 yr lease was up they REFUSED to let anyone release them or buy the cars and crushed all but one, which they kept for a museum. Goes to show you that SOMEONE didn't want the car to be popular in the publics hands. Someone PAID someone to scrap that idea. And F**K GM for allowing it! :(
Do a search for PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle). That may be the way to go where gasoline prices are high (they're high everywhere right?) and electric rates are still relatively low. There are companies out there that will convert standard hybrids like the Prius into a PHEV by retrofitting the batteries to Lithium Ion packs and a NEMA plug-in charger.
i am also sick of outrageios gasoline and diesal prices it also more apalling when the oil companys like exxon brageg about getting high profits than go in front of national television and trys to cover up thar greed
with those dorky and sicking execueses that we have
all heard for riseing the prices such as we do have the as munch matareals to make as munch oil to down gasoline prices and blah blaw than bring in oil from parts of the world that we are at war with that bring prices
Diesel is a safe fuel and it does not explode as easily as you may think it does. And it does not harm the environment as much as you think it does. All of those big clouds of exaust that come out of trucks is just carbon. Plus diesel fuel is getting cleaner.
This is way cool guys...

I hope the gas prices go up to $100 per gallon. That will force us to go with alternative fuels faster.
DrZarkloff 3 years ago
in a blink of an eye it will

Batteries in electric cars can be very dangerous.

True. Gasoline can be dangerous, too.

They sure will give you the acceleration that you need to get into traffic.
