Yes, Moe Dee was the host of the event, but he was not originally signed up to battle. His participating and the rhyme he dropped was not expected, so it was actually a "sneak" attack.

65? hip hop has only been around since 70 or 73 depending on who you talk to. of course there are other scattered forms that are similar that predated it, including "Subterranean Homesick Blues," but freestyle rapping wasn't really developed until somewhere around the mid 70's.

That's your opinion. Yeah 'rap' is ancient but Hip Hop is American music. And it obviously started sooner than the 70's with the godfather. And no,the first "commercial" rap record was Rappers Delight. The first official will remain unknown like who was the original "blues" artist. O, and you spelled chief wrong. You should study more.

They had a few singles "The Weekend," "Punk Rock Rap," "Fresh , Wild, Fly, and Bold," and "Heartbreakers." but never an album.. I said cold crush never had an album,definition of album " a collections of recordings" more than one.... They NEVER had an album...

By the way, Cold Crush Borthers never released an album !! They were on the 1982 soundtrack for Wild Style.. a lot of thier battle tapes have been put on wax in the late 80's and 90's but they never recorded an album of thier own on wax...

"Rappers Delight" came out in 1979. Funky four plus one more"that's the joint" and Kurtis Blow "The Breaks" both released in 1980. The only difference Blow was released on Mercury Label a multi-million dollar company. Funky four released on a little mom and pops label Sugarhill records..

Eh Sugar hill's first album was 1980 so was Cold Crush. Funky 4 formed in '79 and never released a Full length album. So maybe they was a couple of weeks earlier with their albums then Kurtis don't know.

Nah it has nothing to do with where you come rom. Hip hop goes even back earlier then '75 to like '72, '73 when the first dj's arrived (Hollywood, Bam). And who made a fully album before Kurtis (1980) then? All i know is they made singles not albums.

Kurtis Blow was the first rap artist to sign with a major record label that was in 79. The Crash Crew was the first recorded artist that was back in 77. Cold crush brother, funky four plus one, damm even the sugar hill gang had a album out before Kurtis had one out.. DJ Hollywood or Love Bug starski coined the term Hip Hop back in 72. Can't forget Dj Kool Herc who started spinning wax in 70. Thats a small lesson in Hip Hop.. Oh yeah Beastie Boys did not come out with thier first album until 86.

Beasie Boys were the first rappers to have a real album nationally in 1980. Then the Penguin from the "BATMAN" series rapped in 1966. Whites started rap! Thats history!
