  • I really hope there's a third!! This really is a special series!

  • With all the support vehicles and crewmembers left out of the pics, it looks like these guys actually did something relevant.

Many other riders have done far more difficult trips than these two wannabes.

  • @jpooch00 They did this to raise money for UNICEF

  • @jpooch00

Better than the guy who sit in front of computers and just critique.

Probably the same fella who stayed at home when the sky opened up.

It's always a case of too cold, too wet, too hot...to get out there and ride.

The question is...is it the guy in the mirror?

  • brokeback motoring

  • congratulation´´s nice video cool travel xD from Argentina =)

  • How much did it cost a trip like this?

  • @ciwwad you could ride London to Magadan for about £5000. It gets cheaper as you leave Western Europe and head East. An African trip London to Cape town will be cheaper still. Don't bother with an expensive bike though. A light Japanese dirt bike like a DRZ400 will be the ticket. Easy to source cheap and plentiful parts East of the Urals.

  • Nice, but funny, you put this on a track that has something in common with Kawasaki (let the good times roll), at least in the first part of the track...

  • this trip is very easy...with support cars!!!!!!!!!!!if you have the skills go alone!!!!

  • increible son heroes¡¡¡ de argentina los saludamos¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Living the dream!! Living my dream!! it would be an amazing adventure, i would love to do this when im older, Bring along close friends and family for the trip, get geared up and go!! Like our own little version of Long way Down! Nice vid!

  • Cool Video, love this series!

  • yamaha ybr125 long way down philippine edition

  • what motorcycles do they ride?

  • BMW R1200GS Adventure

  • great trip!!!!

  • What an awesome video. You guys are truly inspiring for an old fart like myself. I can almost taste the sand and dirt in my teeth. Congrats on a tremendous feat. Look forward to many more days and years riding and hopefully on a GS someday.

  • Your guys live my dreams !!!! :)

  • I have an R 1200 RT but I am 58 yo. Do you think I am too old to ride the GS on a trip like that?

  • c'mon dude; you take the bull by the horns;-)

  • Well you won't be capable when you're dead. Now's better than never as they say :)

  • If you are asking yourself this question, then you are too old.

You have to feel the power in yourself you will need for such a trip.

  • @dmu89 you obviously missed the retired aussie who rode throug europe and russia who also had his hands blown off and transplanted.

  • short answer - no.

  • @LTCGuffy Africa is big, you don't need to take the same routes as Ewan and Charley. And adventure is not only do a round the world trip. Start by "just" going a little bit to Africa (or Central/South America, don't know where you live), like Morocco which is really an awesome place for motorcycle raids. There is enough challenge for a whole life in north Africa (Sahara).

I think it is never too late to realize his dreams, just need time, money and a lot of will.

  • Para mi el mejor programa de NatGeo. No me los pierdo NUNCA....fana fana %100........ Congratulations Ewan And Charlie.. estoyesperando long way up!!

  • very cool

  • Estuvo muy bueno el video, esta serie la vi por el national geographics, y me encanto y cada vez que la enganchaba me quedaba fasinado mirando este gran viaje, que en menor medida realizare yo alguna vez. Viajar y andar en moto es algo incomparable

  • good title but i hate the music and the vid

  • they did two trips Long Way Round & Long Way Down. If they call this one Long Way Round then that is ...interesting. I'm going to look that up.

  • long way round 2004 ass hole and down 2007 ...fag

  • always love to see friendly replies on YT... sigh...

anyway they did 2 trips... The Long Way Round from London -> New York

and The Long Way Down from scotland to South Africa

the photo's in this video come from The Long Way Down ;)

  • Good make-up boys. PS Videos of motorcyclists undertaking challenging adventures are also available on this site.

  • Do a youtube search for 'Ewan & Thngy'...very funny

  • what's the name of first song?good well~

  • the intro, or the 1st half of the vid?

  • the opening music,I was known that is a old song, but forgot the name!

  • i would realy like to make an trip like that.

  • i would like to make a trip like that once:)

  • where did you get the pics?

  • their website

  • why ruin the video with a crap song? fall out boy suck!!

  • Dear 50 Coupe: 1. "They Did Not Pick Charley or Ewen" it was their Idea and they made it happen.

    2. ewen never rode of road before the trip and addmited aas such.

    3. Charley rode in Paris Dakkar did YOU!!

For fucks sake there just a bunch of regular guys having fun. I loved the show long way doen, and around. and it inspired me to get another bike my 4th and do a 3000 mile trip.

Whatever dude do you Ride a KTM or What LOL.

  • you said what I couldn't ventouxbob. Thank you. Long Way Down isn't like a reality tv show thing where they get two total strangers, put them on bikes, and make them follow some path. These two have been riding motorbikes for years. Charley started when he was young and Ewan a bit later on. They knew what they were doing. You try riding on roads they went on and see how well you do.

  • Did you go through sandstorms, war torn countries where you're always at risk, horrible pot holed roads, and the road of bones? Did you have to drag your bike out of giant pools of mud and fast running rivers? DID YOU HAVE TO EAT COW BALLS? You probably didn't do the last one, but they did that all.

  • Next time 50coupe try listening to the program istead of making random bullshit up that there were 'picked' to do it.

  • i saw the directers cut yesterday.

  • Nice vid Animefangirlxx. I did Denmark to Capetown and came back March this year. Couldn't quite do it at the speed that Ewan and Chalrie did it. But I was traveling alone :). Took me just over 4 months to do it. I took the western route.

By the way, nothing wrong with the music. Loved it too :).

  • wow Denmark to Capetown. That's really far. Congrats on finishing =] And thank you.

  • I love your vids. im a big fan of Ewin and charley. I love the long way round and down!

  • acabas de joder la historia cn esta mierda de video

  • shut up onikfucker

  • dude well in, love long way down.....*sigh* but fuck you very much for the SHITE FUCKIN MUSIC BACKGROUND!!! YA DICK!!!

  • okay, 1) I'm a girl and 2) you can keep that comment to yourself. I liked this music. So shut up. My video, so I choose what music I want. If you don't like it, make your own. Don't bitch at me.

  • Thanx for the post.

I'd like to ride from Sheenboro Que. to Los Cabos , the tip of the Baja ...thats a putt !

Just think of the ride back !!

  • hi...you selling that shirt.."Long Way Down"?can pm me back,thanks....they look cool...

  • um...you have to buy them from their site...

  • oh ok....thanks...

  • It's not easy doing that. And a house of out of shit is amazing because it shows that the people there will use anything to create a shelter to live under. They complained in Long Way Round too, but it's because the roads were always shitty. And they kept falling off. I would've given up if I kept falling off over and over again. And by alone they mean they miss their framilies (especially Charley when Eve tagged along).

  • their next adventure will be called "Long Way to Go" At least, that's what the book says.

  • I was thinking about that, how pays for it??? Is it Charlie and Ewan?

  • The production company, in this case the BBC and sponsors. Most importantly the bikes are given to them free by BMW. It was well worth it for BMW after the first trip, there couldn't have had better exposure to show what hteir bikes can do!!!

  • It just takes loads of cash!

  • Excellent video!!!

What is the song is at the beginning called?

  • nice Video Dude

    Urs Ahmed

  • great video m8

    well done.

  • What is the name of the song?

  • Very good music + movie. I love Long Way Round/Down!

  • very nice the first song fits really well!

  • Thanks for The Memories doesn't really go with this LWDMV(LONG WAY DOWN MUSIC VID lol. I came up with my own name for it x]), but it would look weird if I played Africa while they were traveling through Europe.

  • whats the name of the song on the actual program you know with the lyrics where going on downn the long way downn

  • um.....no idea. sorry.

  • If it the one i'm thinking it is, Its called 'Long way Down' by the stereophonics and they did a version for Long way round called, 'Long Way Round'

  • Wow- thanx 4 the inspiration, there is not one day that goes by without thinking about riding thrue Africa, SOON, do you know when the dvd is in stores?

  • Sadly no. I only know that it's going to be aired on BBC in September and that the book is coming out January 11th or 15th.

  • The television series based on the trip is due to be broadcast by the BBC starting October 28th 2007. - Wiki

  • Wow. Great guys for doing such an task. And to think they they were totally unsupported througout the task...apart from the tv crew, medical team, researchers and advisers. So brave.

  • August 14 2007---Well, you did a fantastic job. I can only imagine how much work went into it. I could never even attempt to do it. I really appreciate your hard work. I loved when Chris Moyles played "Africa" on his radio broadcast everytime he talked to Ewan and Charley!! And he had the motorcycle sound to go with it!!!

That was a lot of fun.

    Thanks again animefangirlxx.

  • I put the wrong finishing date! It's suppose to be 5th! Nooo!! I should of paid more attention to what I was doing!

  • August 10 2007--- Excellent!!! Thanks so much for this teriffic video with so many wonderful pictures!! And I love the song "Africa". So fitting for their adverture. I really appreciate that you took the time to post this video. I am a hugh Ewan fan and I like Charley too. I loved following their trip via video on the LWD site, and am happy that you put this on YouTube so that I could save it to my favorites. Thanks so much.

  • I spent so long getting those photos. Everyday I would go on to see if their were any new ones on their site. I put my heart into this video. I admire what they do. // I'm glad you like it! If it wasn't for that Race to Dakar book being so expensive I would of never known about this! // I got the idea of using "Africa" from Chris Moyles. Lol The credit should go to him for that. That song was perfect for this video because all the images during that song are photos of them in Africa.
