  • there are over 200 people who can be called "Founding Fathers" White and Black. Anti Religionist, can only produce 5 or maybe 6 who they always claim. Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, etc. But even Thomas Jefferson, who everyone claims was a deist, said in a letter "I am a christian". I believe he knew more about himself than some History Revisionist who hates God

  • response to cpmondello : Lets see what the Democrats have done for civil rights. - Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Democrat icon and orchestrator of Japanese Internment

    - Ex-House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, former affiliate of a St. Louis area racist group

    - Ex-Senate President Pro Tempore Robert Byrd, former Ku Klux Klansman known for making bigoted slurs on national television

  • @exposetruthwolf I can't agree with you more, brother. People are so brainwashed into this liberal communist mindset and that will bring America's downfall

  • @cpmondello What are you talking about? Liberal Communism has helped the world? Get over yourself with your antichrist hate talk you damn left wing commie

  • Only the elimination of all conservative Christians will allow all Americans to be free and the world to no longer have to live in fear of the U.S.A.'s imperialist, terrorist holy war. The conservative ideology has never helped mankind in any way, it has not only never helped mankind in anyway, it has oppressed, murdered, raped and killed all those in it's way to gain power. History shows us this. Fact shows us this.

  • @cpmondello haha, conservatives never helped? who do you think was in power when slaves were freed? Who was in power when segregation began? Woodrow Wilson was the president who segregated the military. He fired all but one black person that worked in the white house. He separated the water fountains and bathrooms, whites had one and blacks had one. Woodrow Wilson was a racist and DEMOCRAT. Look at my next post to see what the Liberal party (Democrat) did for civil rights.

Don't get vaccination-don't send kid to public schools.

  • Lmao. Yes of course the founding fathers were religous. That does not make it a Christain nation. How can it be one if we dont have centralized religon in the government?

  • @Kayakofan66 How do you define what a nation is?

  • @Hunterkirk

My defination is a group of people who have a shared culture and ethnicity and shared laws with in legal boundries (legal as in where the borders start and end) . And the laws obviously come from the Government that either Represents the people or dont represent the people .

  • @Kayakofan66 Then by your definition this is a Christian Nation. The vast majority of the American people are Christians thus "shared culture and ethnicity" standard is met. Clearly we share our laws and the laws were put in place at the representation of the Population of whom the vast majority are Christian.

  • The founders were concerned about State Religions (defined as A Religion that the State requires you to be a member if you are a citizen). The protestant movement (a clearly Christian Movement) was the beliefs reflected of the Founding Fathers. Protestants largely agreed that free practice of religion was needed and for that to happen a National Religion would not work.

  • BUT here is where you get it wrong. They never suggested that Religion should not influence government policies or that religion should no be allowed a presence in the public forum.

  • @Kayakofan66

it's not a christian nation but was founded by christians who chose to give freedom of religion lest they fall like britain.

  • "To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian" - GEORGE WASHINGTON nuff said!

  • it's doesnt matter what religion the founders were, they also rode horses, it doesnt mean we are a horse back riding nation. the kkk uses this same logic to say we are a white nation....we are a SECULAR nation.

  • @FlyinSpaghettiMnstr7 At least it is a honest answer instead of the normal lies and rewriting of history that is common among the political left.

  • ya know what! as u read all your comments it saddens me that All of Us should be revolting against TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. are you guys sleeping of What!!! we must cast the tea into the ocean and expect the consequences. one term obama!

That the most acceptable Service we render 2 Him is doing good 2 his other Children. That the soul of Man is immortal & will be treated with Justice in another Life respecting its conduct in this. These I take 2 be the fundamental Principles of all sound Religion, & I regard them as u do in whatever sect I meet with them."

    - Benjamin Franklin [March 1790 ~ last letter]

  • I LOVE this Channel.

Check it out, I went to eBay and InLiberty and got >>>

WWFD - Official -- "What Would the Founders Do" -- Wrist bands!!!

They're NICE!!!!!!!!!! the True sign of a Patriot! :D

  • John Adams was a strong advocate of supporting freedom of ALL religious sects, particularly he supported the enforcement of the rights for Jews to practice their religion, and also demonstrated disgust for Christian intolerance....Certainly the founding fathers saw merit in Christian virtue...but they also despised government which endorsed one religious sect over another...which was also why the heavily emphasized separation, they acknowledged virtue of the bible, not necessarily divinity

  • It's a shame the Founders forgot to put all of that religiosity into the Constitution. I wonder why.

  • Do NOT associate with those given to CHANGE!! Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty. Do NOT be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes, For the Lord will be your confidence. And will keep your foot from being caught. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths-Proverbs

FEAR NOT, PRAY FOR YOUR ENEMY -Jesus

  • Nicely done, but hilarious that they used Thomas Paine, whose work "The Age of Reason" was a scathing condemnation of religion, and Christianity in Particular. Also, Jefferson, who edited and published a version of the gospels in which he deleted all references to Christ's divinity .

  • People's works, even famous people, are seldom as cut and dry as some would like them to be made out to be.

While I don't question both Paine's and Jefferson opposition to religion it is also clear that they say saw side effect of religion that we of good to the nation.

  • Great job! Thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you for posting this excellent video. It comforts me to see that there are still people who cherish our traditional values and support the truth when so many seem to embrace the lies of those who would undermine them.

  • Yes, the Founders did not want a government established religion . However the Founders were for the most part Christian and endorsed Christian ideology and practices within the government because they knew that Christian princibles were condusive to free society. Also the Founders never meant for people not to be allowed to practice there religion on government property. In case you didn't know ,back then church was held in government buildings with consent of Congress and the President

  • All I see when I read religous or spiritual quotes from our founding fathers are all just simply expressions of their religious freedoms they established in our secular constitution. What's the big deal people? It's not hard to understand. They knew first hand of the tyranny of a state sponsored religion and made sure to not build this great nation on the christian religion, but on a secular constitution. Not all of their quotes are LAW like the constitution or the treaty of tripoli are.

  • Considering how many different religions there are in America, it's best to keep religion away from government.

  • "History will also afford frequent Opportunities of showing the Necessity of a Publick Religion , from its Usefulness to the Publick; the Advantage of a Religious Character among private Persons; the Mischiefs of Superstition, &c . and the Excellency of the Christian Religion above all others antient or modern."

    --Benjamin Franklin

  • Regardless of any cherry-picked quotes you dug up from this nation's founding fathers, it doesn't change the first part of our first amendment about the separation of Church and State.

"Congress Shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting free exercise there of..."

There's also the famous quote from Ben Franklin, "To see by faith is to shut the eye of reason." and another great American's quote, "Faith is believing what you know isn't so." -Mark Twain

  • And the part you keep forgetting is ..

    "prohibiting free exercise there of"

Oh by the way 90% if the founding fathers were religious and more then one were ministers. Your the one cherry picking.

  • Comment removed

  • Amen. Notice how he talks about cherry picking and then turns and tries to quote Ben Franklin? It's just more of their hypocrisy. And Mark Twain wasn't even a Founder. Good video that actually tells the truth for once.

  • Please show your working! ;)

  • @Hunterkirk , good come back to redfire1210. and i'll add that george washington demanded of his army that they go to church. THAT'S A FACT!

  • @Hunterkirk " And the part you keep forgetting is ..

"prohibiting free exercise there of"" NO ONE wants to prohibit free exercise of their religious beliefs. But religious beliefs should be in the home, in the churches and PRIVATE funded institutions. NEVER in public , promoted by TAX PAYERS, or forced upon captive audiences. MILLIONS of Americans are not christians! Millions have no religious beliefs at all. Understand?

  • @PaineLover "religious beliefs should be in the home, in the churches and PRIVATE funded institutions. NEVER in public" Thank you for proving that you are against and are trying to prohibit free exercise of faith.

  • The Continental Congress issued a day of prayer in1775 to designate "a time for prayer in forming a new nation", President John Adams declared May 9, 1798 as "a day of solemn humiliation, fasting, and prayer," during which citizens of all faiths were asked to pray "that our country may be protected from all the dangers which threaten it".

Prayer was a significant part of The foundation of The United States of America.

  • Okay, something is definately wrong with this video because Benjamin Franklin is the guy who said, "Lighthouses are more helpful than churches."

  • You forget a simple fact Benjamin Franklin lived. What do I mean by that? He was not a post card and a consistent person who always thought the same way and always acted the same way. You think of him as a Icon not a person who went through many life changes.

  • People dogo through life changes, but something like that doesn't change. People don't change. Once you hit twenty your beliefs are carved in stone. It's how your mind develops. It is unlikely that his beliefs would've changed after twenty years of age. Especially, after he fought a war for two years for them.

  • Really at one point most of the founding fathers liked being British citizens and they changed. People change all the time and at all ages.

  • That's true, but at one point they learned the facts and decided to secede. There are no facts when it comes to religion, only faith. There's a difference.

  • How do you know that? I know of a number of atheist that became Christians well past their twenties. I would not be surprised if it occured the other way around.

I get the feeling your very young, because I can not see how anyone could think people don't change after 20 years of age.

  • What I said has to do with psychology and development of the human mind. When you're young your mind is very influenial, but when you grow up it's much harder to change your beliefs. That's how hate groups increase their numbers. They target the young people.

  • Billions upon Billions of Evangelical dollars intermingled with politics= vincible ignorance for humanity. Christian mindwash will always try to undermine true liberty.

Religion: an entity that the ignorant find to be true, the well-educated to be false, and the SUPER RICH RULING CLASS ELITE TO BE VERY USEFUL.

  • Yes and Billions upon Billions of Union Dollars intermingled with politics. Billions upon Billions of evironmental Dollars intermingled with politics. Billions upon billions of Civil Rights dollars intermingled with politics...

If you want the religious people to have no influance then you should say the same for the enivronmentalist, civil rights, unions, etc..

The fact that you ONLY target the religious shows bigotry on your part against them.

  • Wow..so, are you acutually saying that a true Christian is opposed to civil rights? Or do you think (like many right-wing fundies do, privately) that blacks are savages?

  • No rocket scientist...

What I am saying is that religious groups are groups of people just like black civil rights groups and environmentalist are. Thusly as a group of people they should have just as much right to representation as the other groups.

  • the problem is their intentions differ some religious groups want christian creation taught in schools etc

  • Hunterkirk, I hope this is a joke or a prank, because you can't really believe this...

  • I most certainly do believe this and the words in this video are those of the founding fathers. You can not seriously not beleive them?

  • "religion should be silenced in state/federal governments" So you admit to being a bigot... good to hear it it. Why should government fund your hate of religion and not fund religion? Sure your bigotry can be reflected in some action of certain theist, but two actions of bigotry does not create fairness.

Your right our constitution does protect religious rights... I suggest you follow it instead of trashing it in the name of your hatred for religion.

  • No he admits to the forced separation of church and state which is enshrined in the U.S. constitution. A 'law he may not necessarily approve of, but one which you founding fathers, many of whom where atheist felt was necessary. This is now being over written by the addtion 'in god we trust' and 'under god' being added to money and documents left right and center when they were specifically excluded to keep church and state separate.

  • As your Canadian I am certain of your deep understanding of the US Constitution. As you you know that the words "Seperation between church and state" never appears in the Constitution. It only appeared legally as Judge taking a comment of Jefferson out of context to support a person dislike for religion. So by your understanding this Judge is the Constitution? Right?

  • So Atheist are allowed to run for president that is just a lie. The fact that they are unlikely to win isnt a issue of not being allowed or not. As for a few old laws, they have never been used or enforced, you know there are laws that require you to carry a sword also.

  • many places in the USA it is illegal for an atheist to run for public office.

The Bill of Rights of the Texas Constitution (Article I, Section 4) allows people to be excluded from holding office on religious grounds. An official may be "excluded from holding office" if she/he does not "acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being."

    See more at religioustoleranceDOTorgSLASHtexasDOThtm

  • Show me the attempt to remove such laws, which I would support. Show me a attempt to challenge such laws by trying to run. Show me a case in which a attempt to run was blocked by such laws. In fact you have not yet proven that any athiest was prevented from running.

  • I did!

You simply did not bother to read the entire article, if any of it. It cites cases and attempts to do exactly as you ask.

  • I already stated I didnt approve of such a law, but you have not shown a equal concern for the rights of the religious... You have not condemed attempts to purge Christian symbols from public lands.

Which demostrates to me that I am far more concerned for freedoms then you are. I think in a twisted way you like that law because you can use it to push efforts to silence religion in the public forum.

  • Um, except that the so called 'militant atheists' can quote from actual historical documents like "As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion..." from Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli. You can't make that up, the historical documents are there to be checked. And besides, considering Hitler claimed to be Christian, is being a Christian leader the only test we should have?

  • And they ignore many founding documents like the Constitution and the Declaration of Independance, the May Flower compact and countless other ones. Not to mention the consistant use of referances to God by most of the founding fathers and early presidents. In fact so much so that many of G. Washingtons speaches are no longer allowed in public school thanks to the ACLU.

  • Someone finally got history right.

  • The comments above are also made by those very people. What I think your "ilk" is in error of is thinking that someones beliefs on religion is consistant and never changes. It is possable that Jefferson as well as other founding fathers had different beliefs at different times.

  • I enjoyed your video. I would like to know that George Washington prayed to something at least because I want to get a framed copy of "a prayer at valley forge" but want to at least know that he called on God.

  • The founding fathers believed in the right to believe whatever you want, but found religion to be a necessary moral too.

I am religious, but I strongly support the 1st amendment. It protects the sanctity of religion and allows rights for all.

  • Noticed the title doesn't say Christian Founders of the USA. Some of the people you listed were Deists. I never argued they didn't believe in a god (it was over 200 years ago). I just stated in my video that Paine, Jefferson, Madison, and others argued for a separation of church and state and were spiritual Deists. Some of the places where you named God were references to a higher power (not Christianity's higher power).

  • This video was not directed toward the "Seperation Between Church and State" people, although some comments like those of Benjamin Franklyn show a clear position for a Public Religious Activity.

It is to target those Athiest that try to rewrite history to claim they were not religious, and hated religion.

  • Fair enough. I guess we just had a misunderstanding.

  • I haven't heard many atheists at all argue that they hated religion; I've heard plenty argue that they were Deists. I think they are just tired of having Christians use that as an excuse that they can deprive atheists of rights but have a persecution complex every time someone has even so much as a difference of opinion with Christians.

  • I have yet to see any rights that atheist were denied. The atheist do have a persecution complex and use it to deny rights to Christians. In many ways they are projecting their fellings on to others.
