  • love that bassline...so powerful!

  • Such a great song!

  • Thank you so much for putting this up! Over 20 years and still it seems like I'm listening to them for the first time. <3

  • I've known the bass player since we were kids

  • jesus haven't heard this in 20 years....still love it

  • All the gods' men is a masterpiece and one of my favourites of the 80's along with

Explicit Material. Saw these guys supporting the Damned circa 86 and was

TOTALLY blown away by them. Fantastic band.

  • Hmmm - Sorry but without Hannett at the helm, this album would have been another power pop album much like the almost equally marvellous Cactus World News..... I just loved his gritty smash-snare sound....no one made music like him and they never will..

  • yeah, that single is not great,. I forgot to mention "Sometimes" from the first album which is a great track and maybe should have been a single.

  • this is a mixture of blue in heavens 'across my heart' + 'julie cries' - has someone cleverly mixed this or is it a real recording / it's totally superb !!!

  • This is the single version produced by Hugh Jones.

  • What version is this? I've only ever heard the LP version, and I think I might like this one better.

  • This is the single version which, as you say, is the better version. This wasn't produced by Martin Hannett, who did the album. It's a mighty fine tune though.

  • I think this is the version released on U.K. Buzz #003 (look for more details in discogs). Great version, but, as a Hannett freak I prefer the overproduced one that's in the album.

  • I love Hannett with Joy Division but i think he destroyed BIH's first album with the exception of Like A Child

  • You're right, perhaps Hannett used too much reverb in BIH's first album, but you can't deny Hannett's version of 'Across My Heart' is A THOUSAND times better than the Hugh Jones' one.
