this is a mixture of blue in heavens 'across my heart' + 'julie cries' - has someone cleverly mixed this or is it a real recording / it's totally superb !!!
This is the single version which, as you say, is the better version. This wasn't produced by Martin Hannett, who did the album. It's a mighty fine tune though.
I think this is the version released on U.K. Buzz #003 (look for more details in discogs). Great version, but, as a Hannett freak I prefer the overproduced one that's in the album.
You're right, perhaps Hannett used too much reverb in BIH's first album, but you can't deny Hannett's version of 'Across My Heart' is A THOUSAND times better than the Hugh Jones' one.

All the gods' men is a masterpiece and one of my favourites of the 80's along with
Explicit Material. Saw these guys supporting the Damned circa 86 and was
TOTALLY blown away by them. Fantastic band.

yeah, that single is not great,. I forgot to mention "Sometimes" from the first album which is a great track and maybe should have been a single.

I love Hannett with Joy Division but i think he destroyed BIH's first album with the exception of Like A Child
