The problem boils down to connection issues--what would you prefer a non-laggy room with experienced players or a laggy room with inexperienced players--odds of finding a match with low ranked individuals and a good connection are slim. Secondly, maybe you should have bought the game when everyone else did. Gears 2 sucks anyway
Gears2 multiplayer sucks. Lag, host, bridgehosting, the way the shotgun works, and cheaters. I hate the fact that im a 27 and im always getting put up against level 50's, 70's with better armor so i get killed in an easy 5 shots. It's bullshit. Host is just bull and the way some people can kill you in 3 shots from far away with a shottie and you cant and you've wasted you're whole clip on them. It's seriously bullshit. on the first Gears of war no was no lag because they had a host and it all depended on his connection. on the new gears they wanted to stop people from complaining about host adventage and they just add it anyway.

I think the reason why we still play it is that there really is no other sci-fi style shooter online at this point. People know Gears 1 is old and although we love Gears 1--its still old. Call of Duty--more army men from the 1940's--boring. We deal with the lag issues in GOW2 and play with friends and try to win some games regardless of wether or not it is garbage. Maybe there is just nothing that is any better. I left for Killzone 2 on PS3 for 90 days. GREAT GAME, but my friends are on 360.

This last Friday there was an update mas horrible of the servant, only it is possible to play 4 vs 4, is boring, the grenades of smoke already do not work and the power weapon is very powerful, and the shotgun is extremely weak. This one done the game a garbage for this.

Glad to others are having the same problems. At this point, I'm not sure Epic can alter the game infrastructuer enough to fix these issues. The ranking patches proves that they are aware of the problem. It gives us a better chance but only masks the problem.

Any game you play with just leaderboards(like gears 1) nobody cheats. As soon as you put a type of level or rank into the game you see cheaters emerge. Now when Halo 2 came out people did this. Some times in Call of Duty 4 you would get cheated because it has rank. But the idiots at Epic Games did not take the time to relize that IF YOUR PUT RANKS OR LEVELS INTO A GAME YOU HAVE TO FIX THE WAYS PEOPLE CAN CHEAT TO GET THEM UP!

here are examples:
-Sometimes when i face really low levels i neither get lag-switched or i lag anyway because my connection isn't that good and im european.
-Sometimes the lowest member in the opposing team is higher than my entire team. ( im lvl 53 )

Glad to others are having the same problems. At this point, I'm not sure Epic can alter the game infrastructuer enough to fix these issues. The ranking patches proves that they are aware of the problem. It gives us a better chance but only masks the problem.

The sad thing about what this vid shows is that now even with the "fixed trueskill" stuff, gears is even WORSE. two-piecing is done, there is more lag than ever, and you lose exp if your xbox freezes or gets glitched out, seriously, gears 3 better be a damn huge improvement or I dont think I will buy the next one. Really the only reason I play Gears 2 now is because my friends play it, I'd love to go back to gears 1 rather than play shit that doesnt even work.

This video proves my first experience of GOW 2 matchmaking. a 20 minute wait, then lag as fuck. I was experiencing exactly the same thing as you guys did, and then I was later called a noob and insulted several times. What a great place GOW 2 online is.

Any game you play with just leaderboards(like gears 1) nobody cheats. As soon as you put a type of level or rank into the game you see cheaters emerge. Now when Halo 2 came out people did this. Some times in Call of Duty 4 you would get cheated because it has rank. But the idiots at Epic Games did not take the time to relize that IF YOUR PUT RANKS OR LEVELS INTO A GAME YOU HAVE TO FIX THE WAYS PEOPLE CAN CHEAT TO GET THEM UP!

Its hard to win in these kind of games (Other team cheating) but I always found tagging walls with nades done the trick. Just keep tagging every damn wall and watch THEM get pissed at it
