@konkoba98 The USA Mens team didn't qualify high enough as a team in the 2 years prior to the Olympics at the World Championships to earn spots. The last chance to earn a "wild card" is at the upcoming Pan-Am games. IF we get a spot, then the USAW has outlined a ranking system that will award said spot to the athlete who places the highest in the overall ranking. Until then, we have NO spots. The women have their Olympic Trials next month at the US Nationals.
@BROZKNOWS Okay. Is there a place that explains some of this? USAW website doesn't seem to explain it well and I don't want to waste anyones time asking questions... but... If we get a wild card, does the USAW ranking system give a chance for a number of lifters or is it pretty much Farris or Shankle? How much weight would a big performance at US Nationals & Pan Ams carry for the other lifters? Thanks in advance... love the lifters and the attitude!
You guys are great motivation... absolute monsters. I tried my first deadlift max today, and got 350, haha. But I think that may be a good start for never really doing any real deadlifts or powerlifting before...?
@bonerdust...660 lb squat or 40 pullups, both pretty good feats. I did like that he didn't take much time btwn reps, but the rebound at the bottom does look a little scary. Impressive set, hope the joints (knees, hips, ankles and the back with that jar at the bottom)) hold up for you.
@EHavlovic I have tons of vids of us clowning around in the gym doing goofy stuff, like launching a 16# medicine ball and trying to hit a 34' ceiling, pull-ups for max, box jumps, etc. they are usually the result of smack talking that turned into a wager. someday I will post a bunch of them.
People complain about depth of squats on youtube... well this is practically as deep as you can possibly go. He can obviously lift more with regular depth.
@xthexTxvirusx this video fucked up my mind even more... I always say everything below 100kg on squat is pussy out! now... I can't say that shit anymore... 300+ or give up! fuck! lol
@xthexTxvirusx 315 is still really good. :) Never give a crap about how much others can lift, what's important is that you yourself is satisfied and feel the urge to break your old records. My record is at 110 kg ( about 250 pounds) and I'm quite satisfied with that :)
@iTzNonLethal Because its an incredible physical endeavour for the human race to be proud of. It exemplifies our constant ambition to maximize human potential. Similar to sprinting 100m as fast as possible or pitching a baseball at 100 mph. All athletic feats are different. Pat squatting 300 kg for 6 reps at 19 years old? Epic. Inspirational. World Class.
The point of getting stronger in the squat from a practical standpoint it just makes most physical actvities in your life easier to do . It makes you more capable at everything in general. As i increase my squat poundages at the gym , even if im just walking around i feel more and more spring and lift in my step.
@iTzNonLethal Working out multiple muscles burns fast easily and while working out bigger muscles increases the level of testosterone in the body. Also, it is weightlifting is sport, not only exercise, so it gives all the psychological benefits of sports, including determination, willpower and relaxing from stress. I think this are enough reasons to squat.
@ZaxL89 Most strength athletes don't even bother trying to get large calves. Calve are just more of a base for when you lift, it'd just be useless weight adding muscle to them. Instead people worry about massive, strong thighs and big ass on their lower body to prevent injury and become more powerful. Take a look at Konstantinovs, 3rd strongest deadlifter in the World.
@BROZKNOWS I'm 16 years old and I weigh 285 lbs, I'm a junior in high school and I can squat nearly 700 lbs, Pat Mendes has inspired me. I will post a video in a few months when I get it.
@Juan21327 damn thats good. I currently am a jr and can do like 325 for a few.. ima a 6ft 230 lber and have some pretty good leg strength. i didnt lift in a while but i used to do like 370. and like he said.. post a vid =)
most people who squat this much (and thats not a lot of people) barely get parallel to the floor, this guy is the first i've seen to get actual depth and actually push 660 pounds. much respect man, thats real dedication. for football, I have to raise my squat max from 300 to 405 in 8 months. i'm 5'7" 180 and a sophomore so does anyone have any tips? the usual lifts we do now will not be enough, if anyone can give me some advice id appreciate it!
Doing this has taken my atg squats from 150kg/330lbs to 180kg/396pounds in about 6 months despite spending 1 of those months getting wasted in thailand and not touching a bar. It really works.
@BROZKNOWS Not only him, works for everybody. 14yo, started squating heavy everyday about a month ago. Shot up from a really horrible 225lbs/100kg to 315lbs/144kg. It works, people. I increased by 90lbs in a month, and I'm in my Sophomore year in high school. Get squatting, gentlemen.
