really good work! =] I LOVED it when they do that to my hair. I never have the time to do it and my hair is long so i def. appreciate it when I get this done for me =]
I've been working on my technique for years. I have really long (halfway down my back) thick wavy hair. After I wash it I let it air dry for about 30 -40 mins. Then I go right in (in sections) with a round brush. This eliminates any rough drying that will damage the cuticle. I always go in with a straightener right afterward and I get the straightest, smoothest hair. Also, I don't put a million products in like most stylists these days. And no hair spray! It's too sticky. I like my hair smooth.
but straighener damage ur hair much more than blowdryer :( moreover, some hair product is to protect ur hair (eg. heat protection) like no rinsing hair conditioner.
@heidisimpson Yeah I have a heat protection and a shine serum and that's about it. I mean I don't use root lift and a gallon of hairspray and all these other products that are so popular right now lol.
I hope this is a video on how someone at home could do their own hair because this is NOT a professional finish. She talks about blow drying downward to smooth the cuticle...but the frizz has already been set in the hair by power drying it against the cuticle until nearly dry in the beginning. When this lady goes out into the humidity.. poof! Thank goodness she doesnt have curly hair! Also...holding the dryer by the base and not the handle would save this stylists back in the future.
When you have curly hair and you want to blow your hair straight you don't want to rough dry it. Remove as much moisture as you can with towels or paper towels and then go at it with the brush and blow dryer, otherwise you'll look like a chia pet like you said :)
putting your head upside down and blowdrying your hair like that does create more volume, however when you are blowdrying your hair it is essential that you blowdry your hair in the direction of the cuticle. Flipping your head over and blowdrying this actually damages your hair and frayes the cuticle. Although it does give you more volume, it isn't the greatest way to do it.
Thanks for the vid!! ;-) But it's very difficult to do that all by oneself. Especially if you have longer hair.
I'm trying to learn how to blow dry my hair with a brush, but my hair is long and it's very difficult to roll all the lock of hair in the brush. And I can't go from one lock to another with both the brush and the blow dryer in my hands, so I have to put the blow dryer down to catch the next lock and roll it in the brush. I'm thinking about getting a wider brush.
When i have my hair salon blow dried, it looks sleek and nice. When i do it, it looks like i shouldn't have bothered!! ha i just aint got the technique down yet. good video thanx :-)
If you want to do this and you have long hair, I recommend you flip your head over. It will make is MUCH easier to handle. Everything else is pretty much the same.
(Personal experience. My hair is past my shoulder blades.)
This looks like it would have been very good. She haid good explanation, but the video was choppy. However, I was able to wath in high quality the 2nd one. WONDERFUL!
Thanks for your input ladyglam2u, looks like you are a fellow stylist, how fabulous! I appreciate your comments, I'm actually trying to improve video quality. Keep those suggestions coming, Thanks!

Im wonmdering..: Why is it that you have to use a round brush? What's the difference between a normal brush, and a round one? :)
cincyrus 1 year ago
@cincyrus A round brush with holes in it helps blow drying easier and styles the hair giving it lift and definition.

can you just spritz it with water to dampen it instead of wetting it entirely and having to dry it to dampness?

Her model is freshly shampooed, that's why she had to rough dry.

What do you mean by "the direction of the cuticle?"
4countrygal4 2 years ago 2
i though you had to blow the hair which ever way the cuticle is going??

xpinkglowx3 3 years ago 8
Maybe it's the brush. Some have hair and some have metal spikes. Which kind is yours??
Sylphadora 2 years ago
@xpinkglowx3 it is the round brush your using that makes your hair staticy, try buying a diff round brush!!
