Peace of Mind is my all-time favorite Blue Cheer song. Since i first heard it way back in the early '70s I've picked it on my guitar when I'm feeling blue. RIP Dickie.
2009 was one of the biggest years ever for celebrity deaths--at least Petersen's was important in the "metal community". North Dakota's favorite son, besides Lawrence Welk, he was the "prototype" of the "singing bass player" in a power trio. Dickie's style gave us Budgie's Burke Shelley and Rush's Geddy Lee. Lemmy from Motorhead gets in their somewhere, but his voice was more gruff and didn't have that same shrill rebel whine that Dickie, Geddy, and Burke had
When I bought Blue Cheer's first album my mother knew i was going to hell and said as much. I still have the album and the cd as well This music will never get old i still listen to it today R.I.P Dick Peterson you will be missed.
"There is a thing that has happened in music over the years that says, if you like rap music, and I like heavy metal music, we can't be friends. Music is supposed to bring us together, you don't have to like the kind of music I like to like music. You don't need my approval, you need your own. Don't try to be cool, it's the lamest thing you can do. Cool is only cool when you're not trying" -Dickie Peterson
i don't have the internet for 2 years... and i just find out dickie is gone today. wow, that's all i can say is wow. all this talk about michael jackson and brittany murphy and society doesn't even realize that a true legend has passed. god damn it.
Wow. I had no idea. I am glad to see that folks have put up a tribute for Dickie and Blue Cheer. Amazing that their influence is still felt today. RIP Dickie Peterson. The best thing that ever came out of North Dakota. That is a compliment.
damn my guitar teacher had them in his house and i was really hoping to meet him.........i guess that isn't going to happen....hope my guitar teacher int too chrushed....they were 2 good friends from what i hear
There must be beautiful blue electric thunder in heaven now. My dad turned me on to Blue Cheer in '68 with the Summertime Blues single. My son, 11 years old is into my Vincibus Eruptum cd.
nice tribute. r. i.p. dickie. question for anyone out there, does anybody have footage of blue cheer on the steve allen show? if so, they need to post it. thank you dickie for being one of my rock n roll hereos.
