Love it! I work for PSE&G and I grew up in Hillside. I'm over here thinking damn that looks like its in NJ. Nice capture! I usually show up after the explosion lol. Again, cool video.
Well that car sure wasn't gonna be going anywhere. LOL Good thing he turned around! LOL I hope the drivers weren't it directly! The UV in arcing is nasty shit.
HOLY MOTHER FUCK!! Some power flashes can be so bright they can light up the entire sky like lightning. Sometimes even more.
The really bright ones like at 1:08 and 1:11 can blind you if you are standing close enough. Power flashes tend to be especelly bright during tornados.
you did some real good camera work, this video was perfect captureing all sounds and all pictures, thanks for posting your video, you should win a award for this video
Do you know if whoever was in the car that ran into the wire was okay? I've heard that if your in a car when lightning strikes or something that involves electricity that if you're in a car you would be safe because of the rubber of the tires.
@autisticotakugirl A car is a relatively safe place to be in a thunderstorm because of the 'faraday cage' effect, google it. I've been trying to think how someone in a car could be zapped by running over a live wire like this, I think the biggest danger here would be from explosion through fuel ignition. If the car was atop the cable, or close enough on a wet road surface, sufficient potential might exist between car and road surface to cause harm if an occupant of the car stepped out .
The first car hit the wire that was on the ground and the second car was a few feet away from running into the wire. The wire was on the ground after the Transformer blew. I grabbed my camera after the transformer blew. It is amazing how close that car came to sitting on top of that wire and for sure would have fried him.
@anthonystulec I noticed there are several places in NJ named Union. Where exactly? LOL There's Union County, Union City, Union Beach, Union Township... Geez sounds like people in NJ value union! LOL Which is cool. :-P
