  • you boring git!

  • PROTIP: Talk louder.

When i was listening to you i had to turn up my speaker, which in turn made my ears bleed when Derren continued talking

  • jesus christ I can't understand your accent

  • Go try and do this to someone. It won't work using these methods.

BTW, go read Derren's books where he practically teaches you how to do stuff like this.

  • I have many of his book. And I know how to do this so I don't need to read more. And IT does work with this method and others that I used. I don't know why it does not work on you but it has work on me. May be its you tonality or not pausing long enough before each command. Idk

  • Which book has this trick?? I want to learn more on how Darren Brown uses his ability of suggestion. Which book would be best for this?

  • If I wanted to read a "book" I wouldn't be sitting here watching YouTube!

  • bitch?

  • Damn this derren is a wizard.

  • its called pastseys working with derren brown

  • derren is good, you are as boring as a loaf of bread. my goodness man, please for the love of sanity do something else with you life

  • whats nlp

  • hahaa ur so dumb.

  • How rude! I know exactly how Derren does EVERY SINGLE one of his tricks. He's a mentalist, a magician, an illusionist. Do you really think he predicted the lottery numbers? Do you really think he can read people's minds in his audiences? He can't, and he even says he can't! And at the end of the lottery show he said 'it's just a trick.' Which is what it is!! If you don't believe me, go join the magic circle - get to know people in the industry. They will all say the same as me.

  • Of course the lotterynumbers was a trick, I choose just ride the train of enjoyment during things like that. Though I do not think he ever used stooges. Like in the heist, explain the heist and magic, except that he's of course using his magician skills as well (at least I think he does). Anyhow, I don't see this train-thing as magic, now I ask you. Do you really believe that this is stooges?

  • Yip. Although Derren does not always use stooges. Have a read of some mentalism books and you will see how effects are done. It's remarkably easy and if you do manage to find out how it's done, you will go 'oooooh yeeaaah.' I am a huge fan of Derren though - as he is incredibly talented in what he does. A fantastic showman. But that's all it is - a show.

  • @drpellypo Don't forget he is known for lying as well..

  • @drpellypo EVERY SINGLE?

  • @drpellypo

    ...And your point is... ?

Thanks Kenor, I didn't realize the anchor.

  • this explanation is balls. NLP is balls.

  • The subject is trying to look up to his left to visually recall the information. Derren deliberately interrupts this by waving his hand in front of the subjects face (from the subjects left to the right) and constantly focusing his attention on the right. This is in addition to the other techniques already pointed out.

  • i can see what are saying is happening but i get the feeling that he is trying to mis direct those who will attemp to solve this trick. I think he is using stooges especially as the nlp tricks you are talking about and the basis of nlp e.g. eye movements e.t.c has been proven by scientists to be false.

  • hmm... In the other two subjects I thought I saw an embedded command. What STOP, THINKING ABOUT IT NOW... what STOP THINKING ABOUT IT NOW, what stop did you need to get off?

  • thats what i saw too

  • yeah the arranging of punctuation is one of hte many many many tacit commands, and suggestions, rearranging etc.

  • you are 100% correct STOP was the command

  • I think that your commentary covered a few of the basic NLP tactics that Darren used during that. However, the touch on his arm likely was off- either slightly harder, a different place, or weaker than usual- in order to produce a greater state of turmoil for the target's mind.

  • Can you tell me step by step how to do this

  • subtitulen the conversation please

  • After the initial anchoring Brown looks for a change in pupil dilation as he talks to the passenger.(this can indicate confusion or startled response) He also asks 'which stop' in a doubtful way. You can be sure plenty of people were used before they got to the suggestible ones..

  • in my opinion you're a bit off: the anchor is a touch on the arm to signal agreement, first when he asks to sit down. the hand wave, while sort of related to pattern interrupts, is a technique that literally knocks the images out of one's mind, works best on visual thinkers. good analysis though certainly better than 95% of people. some people still don't think this is real can you believe that??

  • dude "text to speech" period.

  • Thanks. I found this video under 'related videos' after watching Brown's Trains of Thought, and found that it helped my understanding of Brown's process. It gives me some comfort to know there's actual technique and method to this that someone can learn, and Brown isn't just magical.

  • this can only work on trains

  • could you write down the explanation?I can't hear clearly

  • Could you write down your explanation?just the main point...I can't hear clearly

  • im actualy glad u explained this, it does make sense that suggesting a word like "confused" and correlating it with a movement could work. Because he does repeat the movement and he does become more and more confused. Great explanation now i actualy appreciate more of derren browns skills as i was unsure whether he was for real

  • cant even hear you!

  • Mate, its very nice of you to explain how you think it all works.. But the whole point of this amazing mans work is to trick us and keep us wondering.

Some may say your spoiling it a little..

  • Thanks for comment - I know I didn't make any warning, but I expect that people watching this are aware of exposing content - it they're not, then it's their problem - they destroy the magic for themselves, not for me, you or Derren :)

  • the sound is messed... it goes too quiet to too loud...

  • Interesting point... thank you, I'll thing of it.

  • @mohanicus HAHAH, the title of the vid kinda gives it away, if you dont wanna know, then dont watch it. Fairly simple?

  • Its pretty simple, he builds a rapport with the subject and then anchors the thought of forgetfulness with the swooping hand gesture, (NLP swish technique)He then has freedom to use this gesture when he wants the subject to forget because the hand gesture has programed the subjects unconcious mind. Check out NLP sites they're cool! also quick induction hyonosis!

  • Exactly! Simple to explain, but difficult to perform. Anyway thanks for commenting!

  • 123 thinks its intersting LOL he thinks its entertainment DONT YOU KNOW ITS A WEAPON BEING USED AGENST YOUR RIGHT NOW???? please it needs to stop.

  • Try and spell against right!

  • i wish people wouldn't make these 'explained' videos, it kind of takes away the magic, i personally think derren brown is much better not being explained

  • This is not magic. No illusions. No stooges. Just pure psychology - everyone knows that, and these 'explained' videos just try to show people true psychological principles. I agree with you, Derren Brown may be better not being explained, but once you try to explain his work, you discover completely different (and maybe even more interesting) point of view. And thanks for comment.

  • i know, i see your point, but i didn't say it was magic, i meant the things that he does sometimes just gives you the shudders. and i'm not stupid, i know its psychology and Derren says it plenty of times, I just find it more interesting leaving the mystery in.

  • Derren explains some of his theories and tricks himself.

  • I know, which is useful for idiots like me lol ;)

  • Me too :)

  • No one told you to watch it.

  • i must say theshepherd2000 is the first pleasant and well informed person ive come across commenting on the hypnosis/nlp field!!!

id like to know how long youve been practicing and what kind of resalts you get, also which advanced books can you recomend?

  • hello, sorry about this incredbly large delay, but i never check my inbox. I am flattered at what you have said but I am not sure how much I can help you. I have been practicing about a year and a half and get very good results, and, to be honest, I have read comparatively little: the best advice I can give you is to really solidify the basics and then it is perfectly easy to make your own stuff, you essentially teach yourself the complex stuff! Although one book I would suggest is blink

  • by malcolm gladwell. It doesn't teach you all that much but it is an interesting read and really helps you to open up to your instincts as well as set technques. Sorry I can't be of more help and good luck!

  • Richard Bandler, I would say though should be avoided for the absolute beginner who is unaware of neuro linguistic programming and the connotations associated with it. It is best first of all to learn some background to it and make your own judgement. After all, on the advanced end of the spectrum one delves into the likes of the infamous October Man Sequence and other techniques best left to those who understand the responsibility that comes with the techniques. Derren explains this well.

  • oh, and dont waste your money on anything by JK Ellis, hes a fraud!!!

  • agreed.

  • for all those wanting to read my whole rant, please start from my earliest comment :P

  • for all those wanting to read my whole rant, please start from my earliest comment :P

  • I would recommend wholeheartedly Derren's book, 'tricks of the mind', for any enthusiast wantng to make a start in this. For the more advanced student, 'pure effect' is a rewarding but incredibly expensive read; also, for much of the book he speaks in card sleights, so don't spend £140 if you can't perform card magic!

  • DONT BGOTHER READING TRICKS OF THE MIND!!!!

Apart from one or two usefull memory techniques the book is useless!!!

all derren does is rant and try to discredit the very techniques he uses.

the most usefull part of the book is the further reading list. anyone considering reading it dont bother. perssuasion engineering by richard bandler is a good place to start or the structure of magic (for the more lerned).

  • very valid comment. However, this book does outline a basic method of how to perform conventional hypnosis, and yes, the further reading list is valuable. If anyone is serious in taking this up, I would still recommend it, even if primarily for the reading list, memory tricks and hypnosis outline: it is good value for these, since otherwise to get other books would potentially cost more. Granted though, avoid the final section, that is ranty...

  • Therefore, a piece of information for everyone reading this is to simply watch Derren's videos and closely observe what he is doing, all the answers are in the videos themselves. There are very few hidden layers of techniques used comparative to other forms of magic including conventional mentalism (although, naturally, an understanding of the groundings of his techniques is extremely useful).

  • hello, nice descrption of how he performs this trick, it is just a real pity that it is qute difficult for me to hear your voice on the video! (my comp has poor sound). I have been doing these techniques for over a year now and it is just a shame I can't get much more out of the explanation videos.

  • wrong wrong wrong!! but close:)

  • What's wrong? Correct me :)

  • Sorry, I just deleted comment I wanted to reply... the tap on the head is like trance-breaking move.

  • Why the hell are people watching the "explained" version if they don't wanna listen to the explaining???

just watch the original clip you morons! Damn selfcentred racist assholes. (for the record, all you whiners have typing errors, so take a good long look in the mirror before you start judging others.)

Keep up the good work Kenor

  • Thank you

  • I agree. and I wasn't trying to be rude when I left my comment either.

  • Really interesting stuff, thanks for your explaination. By the way, for those who want to watch it without commentary just look on the right side under "related videos".

  • oh my god!your voice is breaking on my nerves!shut up!

  • You don't have to watch this video - I'm sorry if you didn't like my voice, but there's no need to be rude my stupid friend

  • stop speaking. listening to u speaking english kills the video

  • Nobody can force you to watch this video... if you didn't like it, please leave negative rating

  • Thanks, very touching comment!

  • excellent

  • very good, I find it pretty possible that you got it right

  • excellent brov welldone

make more, but only explaining derren browns vids. keep up the great work m8 well done

  • good job, no offence but it was kinda hard to undestand you..were you reading froma script? I suggest the book "NLP & Mind Control" good book explains how this is done. Kinda reminds me onf Jeti ... Star Wars

  • Thanks. I wasn't reading from a script, but I'm learning English only six years, so it was quite hard for me to talk :D.

  • Your English is fine. It's just a little quiet. Great video though mate, nice one!

  • Right, the audio levels of your dialog and the video audio levels are WAY to different. You need to boost your voice-over level.

  • i thought you were pefectly clear to understand your english was good!

  • :D thx

  • Good content...look a piece of advice, son. Pull this video, redo it, and give it a little bit more quality narrating in terms of sound. You have good content...but you sound like you're swallowing a dead rodent.

  • Patronising wanker!

  • thanks for the vid but synchronise your mic and video sound volume next time please.

  • I know... thanks anyway

  • Nice explanation, but you forgot some things and some techniques.

    btw, the sound is deplorable.

  • do you any more

  • you sound like jerry off big brother

  • Excellent explanation. One of the best I have heard.

  • Thank you very much!

  • and eh thanks for flying with klm today. Temperature outside is about 27 degrees, have a nice day and goodbye.

  • thanks

  • cool

  • Oh... sorry, I forgot. Derren is also saying "What was the station" or something like that... the "was" means that the name is already forgotten.

  • You seem to know your stuff!! Can you induce amnesia yourself??

  • I hope so... if I find good subject to try inducing amnesia and if I establish good rapport, then it's not so difficult
