It is easy to be critical and sometimes necessary. But I can take no critic of a performance that always transcends simple accuracy. All of Andre's performances from the stage hands to the set engineers, to the sound engineers, to the orchestra, all delivered perfectly by Andre. leaves me too breathless to wonder about lyrical accuracy from professionals I would pay to hear if they performed "Mary Had A Little Lamb".

After several years the first tenor is still getting his lyrics wrong and all the rest of the singers are following him. Listen to Carreras and Brightman as they sang the lyrics correctly. To explain: "Amigos para siempre" is Castillian Spanish. Barcelona where the Olympics were held is in Catalan and in their language/dialect it translates into "Amis per sempre."

I just backchecked the Catalan verse on Sarah Brightman's lyrics website and it is:

"Amics per sempre"

This Spanish regional dialect is more cognate with French than the Castillian based standard Spanish because the region and its capital is close to France.

that's right but catalan isn't a dialect at all. it is a language, which comes from latin just like spanish, italian, french, portuguese and romanian.

@DirkRaat T.Y for your correction. You are right of course. I usually don't quibble about mistakes but this flap of these bel canto singers is significant because I do remember that care was taken by the Olympic Committee to honor the Catalan culture and language and hence, the "amics per sempre" in the lyrics. Also by singing "amigos" instead of "amics," the singers extended a note unecessarily and awkwardly.
