Farah & Vlasic are European Athletes of the Month of January
17.02.2009- European Athletics website
European Athletics is pleased to announce that British middle distance star Mo Farah and Croatian High Jumping star Blanka Vlasic have been selected as the European Athletes of the Month for January.
Rageh is a gem of a journalist. Jazeerah is fortuante to have him and I am enriched frequently for having viewed any broadcast that includes him. Bravo 3alayk ya Rageh. I dont walk away feeling i have been assaulted by having listened to a NEWS broadcast that otherwise I do feel when I watch other tv NEWS. Jazeerah brought diversity to the field. Rageh an honest and objective facilitator. BOth rare and valuable. A GEM.
Right. The way I remember it, Omaar praised the invasion of Iraq to the hilt, then got cold feet as the tide turned. After Iraq descended into chao, he made his career out of attacking the consequences of the invasion. Hypocritical, self-serving twat.
If I recall Cromwell and Edwards book The Myth of the Liberal Media (2005) has some information about how 'Rageh' cheerleaded for the invasion in Iraq and then when British state policy (and BBC coverage) changed he of course followed suit. Nothing unusual in that - he is just an agent of the state, like all elite journalists. Like Obama, he is merely packaged as a 'liberal'.
Ok , i agree that elite journalists are state agents, and often distort stories, tell lies, and are spin masters ..the real stories lies with the people
The winners of the 16th annual Amnesty International UK Media Awards, sponsored by PCI:Fitch, will be announced at a ceremony at the Café Royal, London, on Wednesday 4 July, hosted by Al Jazeera English presenter and writer Rageh Omaar.
Keep doing your great jobs, your reports in Iran, was just perfect, your reports about jesus in tv was fantastic and to be honest there is an element inside you that make you especial and everybody could just trust you.
The Somali born reporter was speaking at Warwick University where he drew an audience of around 200 to hear a discussion chaired by Stirrer editor Adrian Goldberg.
Omaar's most recent book "Half Of Me" deals with the realities of being a British Muslim post 9/11, and it's an excellent read. But most of those present wanted to quiz him on the future of the country which he saw "liberated" by Allied Forces.
