One of the greatest openings of any piano concerto I know (together with the 1st of Brahms). Great interpretation as well; thanks for sharing this one with us. I am looking forward to playing this with our youth orchestra...
@Sinfoniette But why? why isn't it one of your favourites? Everything aboput it appeals to me, someone who can't play the piano, i'll admit, but someone who absolutely adores Grieg. It's all there, the grand opening, frantic yet smooth orchestral sections, punctuated by that wonderful piano. Are there many piano concertos that get better than this? (I'm not really that much of a concerto listener, so I wouldn't know).
