If you watch the whole movie and then reflect on it, you'll see it's actually a really well thought-out film. As a kid it freaked the crap out of me but I still loved it, and I actually like it more than the original. It's all about Dorothy dealing with her inner demons and the viewer deciding whether or not Oz was ever actually real. In the end, it's still debatable. Don't discount this so easily--it might look crap right now; but it actually is an awesome flick!
I know I've left some comments already but dude whats up with the sound and the speach? Its all out of sync! Tell me it gets better as the film goes on. :(
NO it gets worse!!! its horrible. i hate these stupid people who dont put time and effort inti there videos. this person made sure the first part was correct then thought immediately the rest was; but no it gets worse and worse!
The magic and creation of Disney I love it, I love this film to always have, has anyone noticed that, the doctor sounds like the Stone King!? Cause I remeberd his voice, which is weird as I havn't seen it in ages.
This movie is set up in a way that implies Dorothy really could be crazy. She gets the idea of tick-tock from the machine the dr showed her, Jack Pumpkin head from the pumpkin that strange girl gives her, The wheelers from that strange orderly guy w/ the squeaky cart... etc. You don't notice those things when you are a kid.
Here is my theory. I actually think the whole thing was imagined. For example, the "girl" telling Dorothy about the "damaged" patients was triggered by Dorothy's fear of the asylum. Plus, the storm and the electricity going out did not help. In the scene in Dorothy's room, notice when the "girl" comes in and leaves, the door does not open/close. The allusion eventually got out of hand. What does everyone think? And if anyone agrees, was the pumpkin in her room imagined as well?
They took that idea from the 1939 movie...but in the books she actually did go to Oz--at least in the first one, there is absolutely no indication that her journey is fake. She is missing for a long time from Kansas, b/c upon her return Aunt Em asks her where she's been all that time and Dorothy tells her about Oz. Also, she actually does return in a later book, which I have yet to read.
about the shock treatment? I think it's really really obvious that at the time this was considered advanced medical procedures. I mean lobotomies were still being performed up until the mid to late 1960s. So even though we know it's bad, they didn't consider it that way back then.
Nicol Williamson as Dr. Worley was originally supposed to play Dussander in the 1986 version of "The Apt Pupil" with Ricky Schroeder, which would've been a better version that the Ian McKellen version.
Nurse Wilson is Queen Bavmorda from "Willow" whom George Lucas approached on this set to play the role in his then-next film.
Im no psychiatrist but I would say Dorothy definitely is suffering some serious schizophrenia, and post traumatic stress!!! LOL!

@splurtschick If you don't know what it's about, how can you say it's a bad movie? Even more, how can you judge when you can't spell "offense"?

Ok ... I hate to moan but the speech in the picture lags.
It's bloody annoying!
I know you took the effort to make sure Part 1 was perfect .. but if the rest of the film stuffs up then what's the point uploading.
Thanks anyway for trying I suppose :0) ... really love this movie.

So basically the doctor was going to shock Dorothy's brain? Isn't that kind of a mean thing to do to a little girl?

It was one of the popular treatments those days, your age didn't matter.

when the woman puts the lunch-pail on the gurney, it sort of symblifies the wheelers being obsessed with the lunch-pails....
