The suzuki burgman 650 has been using this type of "ground breaking" auto/manual CVT transmission since 2003! The burgman 650 is a better bik in everyway. It has better wind protection, is more comfortable, faster, more powerful, tons more storage capacity and costs about $5000-$8000 less brand new.

You can buy 3 nice low mileage burgman 650's used for less than 1 honda dn-01.

the burgman, and most other scooters, use a "belt & pulley" CVT.

the DN-01 uses a hydraulic-mechanical CVT -- far more durable, reliable, and predictable, than a traditional CVT.

The suzuki burgman as quite old now, and that one have been having a 600 CCM engien with automatic gearbox, witch allso does manuel if you want to. So i cant see how this one is the first when the Burgman have been on the market for more then 5 years..

What a freaking shame. There is almost no redeeming quality about this bike. Maybe if you NEEDED a giant scooter, with none of the benefits of a real scooter.

GET WITH THE PICTURE HONDA. WHAT THE HELL happened to the ethos your motorcycle division followed from the late 80s-> early 90s. the evolution from the Universal Japanese Sportbike, to innovations like the Honda CBX, to the revolutionary Honda F1-F3.

@ThePirateMDI think honda's today's not as dark as you say to be, today's motorcycling evolutions don't provide the same bike+bikers expectations as they did 30 or 20 years ago. The DN-01 designs another type of "motorcycling" on nowadays road rules (design, comfort, security, low emissions). Simply, it's the first of it's kind and has still some "youth" defaults (a bit heavy, poor rooming, no efficient auto/manual gear shift, etc.) maybe improvements will come with a"DN-02" version to come ;) .

I really like the looks of this bike. It will be perfect for me (and my kind). I was born with clubbed feet, so even though my feet look normal now, I still have limited mobility in my ankles which won't allow me to use a clutch. I don't like the looks of scooters. I'm glad they decided to do this.

Yeah the newer bikes and cars have the daytime lights. My honda civic has the daytime lights but there are two. It is just annoying to see there's only one on on a bike

This is not the first bike to have an AUTOMATIC mode to MANUAL mode. Suzuki was the first company to do it with the Burgman AN650 for more than a few years now, and was one of the fastest scooter/motorcycle out there.  Until Honda came up with the DN-01 to compete with the AN650 now Yamaha is putting out the TMAX 750. All good bikes it just depends on what you want and how you ride. Some people can not ride sport bikes cruisers due to accidents can't shift any more but still love to get out.

This is bizarre. It's fucking ugly but a bit good looking if you don't see the long shark nose, it's rather stupid and pointless but, who am I to say, right? Maybe someone will appreciate an automatic bike. It's in a class of its own right now. I bet I'd like it if I rode it, but then again baybe I'd hate it to pieces. I don't know what to say, time will tell. Not scooter enough, not tourer enough and not sporty enough.

If thats the case,tell him to get the vfr1200 instead..Looks way better and has way more power..He may not care too much for speed but if he really wanted to get moving,that vrf1200 would be perfect..It has the same trans as this dn-01.
