I'm in an operating systems class as part of my CIT degree. We have moved on to the Mac portion, and I honestly don't see what's so great about them. We've had nothing but problems with every machine in the room. The PC labs, on the other, rarely have a problem. My main problem is that everything jumps around. The menu bar at the top changes with ever new program! Give me Windows 7 any day.

Windows... Never crashes. It just works. I never seem to have any viruses. But then again, I don't click on every single "YOU WIN 100000 DOLLARS CLICK HERE NOW" window that pops up.

Problem 1: use the auto save function on FCP,

and btw. Pc's allso shut down for no particular reason.

problem 2 just hold the turn off button for a few sec.

problem 3 just hit ESC when trying to rename a file

problem 4 if the DOCK is such a problem, use dual screens. (its much better when working with media)

Linux is an operating system, you can use it on both PC and Mac. Well, you can sort of use it on Mac, the same way you can push a yummy bit of candy into a pile of dog shit. The candy is still really good and may be your favourite kind, like turkish delight or sour apple suckers, but ultimately it's useless because it's covered in shit. PC uses Windows by default, Mac uses Mac OS. If you own a Mac it uses you no matter what operating system you have.

Time Machine is not data recovery, it is a program for backing up data which you can do on windows with an interface.

The difference is if you haven't got media to backup onto or if you backup fails you need to go to data recovery where you look at the broken data and try fix it.

Also an end user doesn't have to know it means a computer repair store can do that as well.
