MIAMI — Florida lawmakers are considering a "family friendly" bill that would deny tax credits to films and television shows with gay characters in favour of those promoting traditional values.
The proposal, which has fuelled a heated controversy for its discriminatory nature, would increase current tax credits from two to five percent of productions costs for shows considered "family friendly."
Those productions are defined as films or TV shows with a "cross-generational appeal" that includes a "responsible resolution of issues." Smoking, profanity, nudity and sex are also out, along with what the state's sex crime laws define as "obscene."
The little-known provision was slipped into a 75-million-dollar incentive package that Republican leaders who hold the majority in the state House of Representatives hope will bring more entertainment industry jobs to Florida.
"I want Florida to be known for making those kinds of movies: Disney movies for kids and all that stuff. Like it used to be, you know?" Republican state Representative Stephen Precourt told The Palm Beach Post.
Gay marriage is affecting Kansas, as well. So many tornadoes occur in that region, with over 250 being reported last May.
Why is this? It's because Kansas is the gayest state in America. All those farmers "going to the cornfield."
That's why god punishes Kansas, so much. That's also why he sent Judy Garland to Oz. A) to rehabilitate her and B) to prevent her from influencing young boys to wear red shoes and sing about rainbows.
Im not going to discuss the cases legal issues in this post. Instead, I would like to bring some attention to an issue that is peripheral to the case, and yet goes to the heart of the issue.
The issue is the harassment, even persecution, of ordinary citizens who supported Proposition 8. This is a prime example of the win at all costs mentality shared by many on the Left. During and after the Prop. 8 campaign, the Left attempted to win through intimidation and silencing dissent. Unfortunately, those tactics are resurfacing now that Prop. 8s constitutionality is being challenged in federal court.
Yeah, I disagree with orniolo's views and convoluted logic. But insulting an entire religion, just because of what he says, is not appropriate for the discussion.
Let's not fight intolerance with more intolerance.
I guess I'm not done with my diatribe because I have more examples - Google. Google donated millions to the No on Prop 8 campaign (more than Microsoft) yet they just keep hiring and expanding. There's no correlation to political and charitable donations and job layoffs. Nope, poor products mean less revenue which means less jobs. Learn something instead of consistently trying to justify your ignorance.
And of course, let's not forget Microsoft Vista, which failed in more ways than one. And let's look at Internet Explorer - Yup that's losing 3% market share every quarter.
Use your logic. There's many reasons Microsoft is cutting jobs. Heck, based on the horrible video quality, I assume you edited this video on a PC - this horrible editing is a great example of why Microsoft's products are failing. Get a life that isn't fueled by hate and maybe some logic will finally seep into your brain.
This is the most inexplicable logic that I have ever witnessed. Microsoft has hundreds of thousands of reasons to make job cuts that have nothing to do with Ref 71. Let's see - a $100Billion ad campaign for Bing which only gained Microsoft 1% more in search engine market share. Hmmm... that seems like a logical reason to lay people off and a really bad choice in marketing campaigns. Or what about the millions they've put into the Zune? What's the Zune you ask? Exactly.
am willing to sacrifice all that I can to see that the State of Washington stands up for traditional, holy matrimony. I want to be known as those who are listed are known as defenders of marriage. I want to be insulted and threatened and harassed by those who have lost all sense of good and evil, and pursue evil endlessly.
Part 6 of the "Exclusive: More Microsoft layoffs":
Microsoft cut 1,200 jobs in January and made a larger reduction in May. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer told employees at that point that the company was "mostly but not all done" with the planned 5,000 layoffs.
The company has been eliminating a series of products and services as part of its budget cutting. Microsoft's latest quarterly earnings beat Wall Street's expectations but still reflected overall declines in revenue and profits.
Part 5 of the "Exclusive: More Microsoft layoffs":
The layoffs had been rumored for weeks, based in part on reports of widespread reservations of conference rooms on Nov. 4, similar to the way they were reserved before previous layoffs. The information we received tonight confirms those rumors.
We haven't been able to find out which product groups will be affected most by the cuts, but we'll provide updates as we receive more details.
Part 4 of the "Exclusive: More Microsoft layoffs":
This time around, there aren't enough of those open jobs available. While Microsoft has continued to hire in some areas, cushioning the effect of the job cuts, the company isn't expanding at nearly the rate that it has in the past. That means there are fewer open positions for employees cut loose by reorganizations, which appears to be the major factor contributing to the additional job cuts.
Part 3 of the "Exclusive: More Microsoft layoffs":
Those extra cuts reflect the company's ongoing need to adjust to the realities of the new economy. Reorganizations are common inside the company. In the past, people who lost their jobs as part of those changes were often able to find other positions inside the company.
Part 2 of the "Exclusive: More Microsoft layoffs":
This latest round of layoffs is expected to be noticeably smaller than the first two -- numbering in the hundreds but totaling less than 1,000 overall. Some portion of the new cuts will serve as the final phase of the company's original plan, announced in January of this year, to cut up to 5,000 jobs over 18 months. However, the new layoffs are expected to take the company beyond the original plan, as well.
Part 1 of the "Exclusive: More Microsoft layoffs":
We're hearing from unofficial but reliable sources tonight that Microsoft is poised to make additional job cuts this week, with the affected employees expected to be notified as early as Wednesday morning.

Moments after it appeared that the homosexual agenda had won in Washington State, Microsoft let the world know it was laying off 800 people.

"Bankruptcies across Washington state grew in October, driven partly by steep increases in filings in King and Snohomish counties"
yeah, the counties that voted against the family!
Too busy living their lavish lifestyles!

No on Prop 8 meant google would save money. They could restrict benefits to ONLY those who were married under the redefined term.
