  • *Reach Final Dungeon. Sit there and listen.*

    "...Dude. This is...IT."

*Gets PUMPED to beat the game. Dies within ten minutes*

    "..."

    *Plays again. Dies again.*

    "SCREW THIS"

    Beat game 3 years later

  • This isn't the Underwater Temple, is it? I thought this was the Past Shrine of Chaos.

  • @nephilimalch It is but Underwater Temple and Chaos Shrine Titles are Swapped by Square Enix.

  • @Leon8937 actually the song was incorrectly named on the OST "Underwater Temple"

  • i love this theme i truely do but i learned to soon hate it!

  • This damn theme is flawless. Every instrument plays it's part Epically!!!

  • My favorite FF1 music along with Chaos Temple and Matoya's Cave. But i feel that the GBA version was better than with real instrument for this song... Still like it tho.

  • I don't know why, but every time I hear this, all I can think is "Well, this is it...", just like how the game drew to a close with this tune.

  • FUCKING SHINRYU! YOU BITCH!

  • Chaos Shirne (Real name)

  • There will always be hope, no matter how slight or dark it is.

My opinion upon listening to this.

  • This still has to be my favorite music from the FF1 soundtrack. It kind of makes me think of a "concentration" music you might hear in a game show. Things are serious now! No time to fool around.

  • well, it does somewhat sound like an underwarter temple, right?

i can imagine one with water flooding down the walls :D

  • This isn't the Underwater Temple... This is the Temple of Chaos (Past). Even on the GBA version, it says this theme is "Underwater Temple"... Why?

Regardless, this is awesome all the same.

  • Hey. Where can I download the FFI OST? I would love it on my iPhone. Thanks!

  • That was good times ^^

  • Where do you find your OSTs? I'm really wanting this one, along with a few others, but can't seem to find it.

  • It's not a mistake. I've played Final Fantasy Origins (that might be the difference) and this is played in the temple where you end up fighting Kraken. Sounds very similar I'll give you that, but it's not the same. Go ahead and look for the Chaos Temple music.

  • Even if you die, you'll come back and i will defeat you over and over again!

Come join me in this endless cycle that I have created!

  • this is gonna be immature but i thought it said underwear temple lololololololololol anyways, epic game and song! one of the best :D

  • They are not the same song...

  • I learned to play this on a piano.

  • Sounds omnious... maybe because it is.

  • @Seirra259 Yes, It is after all the beginning of the end. Will the Light win or will it scumb to Darkness.

  • am i weird to use this theme to study for a test? this theme relaxes me

  • @ELJimO1985

Matter of fact...I'm right behind ya, buddy.

I have a test in speech class, tomorrow.

This song puts me at the edge to wanna study and write fresh notes.

In the end, a nice game of Final Fantasy will be my reward. Cheers

  • I WANT TO PLAY FINAL FANTASY NOW!!

  • bonkura :(

  • @thhhhhway yeah :(

it was use in bonkura's tribute video i remember ! =(

    R.I.P. Bonkura Best Spinner Ever!

(sorry for my english =( )

  • In my opinion, the NES Final Fantasy trilogy had the best final dungeon music. Chaos Shrine/Underwater Temple (call it whatever you want) in the original Final Fantasy, Castle Pandaemonium in Final Fantasy II, and The Dark Crystals in Final Fantasy III. Nobuo Uematsu clearly started strong. VERY strong in my opinion.

  • wow i accidently clicked on two videos for this song. And one was running 1 second more-the-less slower/faster then the other song and even when both of the same song didn't play synchronised most of the part sounded nice especially the part where the "harp" comes in. You guys should try that as well.

......i should have recorded it x.x to prove it.......

  • Its a great song but whats up with the long pause in the ending ??

  • @CocaColaGuy123 I think the upload somehow messed up is all.

  • Such a powerful song, and so fitting of the last maze of the game. Definitely gives this feeling of eerieness and uneasiness but at the same time is relaxing too. The bang of the drum that happens to keep the beat also adds to the atmosphere quite a bit. It is just like "Wow!" to think that even after almost 25 years now I think, this song has stood the test of time. As has the game itself. Beautiful!

  • Great song.

  • When I close my eyes listening to this song, I see myself alone on a small island in the ocean, standing in front of a small shrine, looking out into distance, with stormy skies above.

  • @MettanAtem Funny thing is, I almost get a similar feeling in a way, and then slowly stepping into the shrine itself wondering if you're going to make it back alive or not.

  • loved this game

  • Eargasm

  • this music is so epic. it gives me into a fancy mode o:

  • DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE THIS SONG IS THE BEEEEEEEEEEEEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *jizz*

  • Epic.

  • the beginning is similar to final fantasy 2's pandaemonium also. :]

  • Is this song play in the chaos shrine in the past ? It's different from the chaos shrine in present

  • yeah this is from the past, on the last floor.

  • Fuck. . . where's my armor and my broadsword. . .?

  • This song is actually played in both The Temple of Chaos AND The Sunken Shrine. The song is almost exactly the same, but it has a slightly different sound than Chaos Temple's does. This is true for the original verson of the game too. The PSX version holds true to the songs being similiar but different. Just listen REALLY carefully to each version of the song/s and you'll see it's true.

  • exact same for nes version

  • OMG, CHRIST, whatever....EPIC AS HELL.........

    THANKSSSSSS

  • OH MY GOD I LOOOOOOOVE THIS MUSIC

    WITH ALL MY HEART

I WOULD MARRY IT IF IT WERE A MALE HUMAN

    lolsrsly

  • this isn't the underwater temple... this is the music for the temple of chaos (final area)

  • It's taken verbatim from the album description. If you read the notes of this vid in the upper right corner, you will see this (or read other commetns in this thread).

  • read the description!

    Square made a naming mistake,

in the ost, this theme is called Underwater Temple while the Temple's real theme is called chaos shrine

  • Actually he is right, go confirm yourself.

In the remakes the music named "Chaos Temple" is used for the Chaos Shrine of Present and in the Underwater Temple.

This variant is used in the Final Dungeon.,

The Chaos Shrine of the Past.

  • hjlkhgkhkh

  • Ah nostalgia, I didn't get to play this game until Origins came out on PS1, but I loved the game. The storyline wasn't very deep, but it still found a way to keep your interest up and asking yourself "what next?" No wonder how this one game pulled square out of their hole and put em on top! thnx for putting up the pst, brings back memories ^_^

  • I killed Tiamat before Kraken

  • man...this game was made by the GBA and it has real good quality, for such a GBA game :D

  • yea i have 4 psp its extremely good!!!one of my favorite!!on psp its enhance!!!

  • you got that right! i agree!

  • i have it for the PSP too! :D it has more content! YAY

  • Original NES Final Fantasy blows them all away to this day.

  • I can't agree more, the original Final fantasy is still the best

  • @swordinademonskull sure if you like buzz and beeps all day to updated effort

  • @GekiSonic The point is, I remember the atmosphere behind the original game, and this effort, if you can call it that, is an easy out. Some college kid made the "effort," to convert the midi, and that's all there is to it. With all due respect, I imagine you are speaking purely from a technological bias, so I understand. This song is supposed to sound powerful, ominous and adventurous. This conversion made it sound like Bambi is frolicking through a field of daisies and butterflies.

  • @GekiSonic What it comes down to, is I'd like to hear an updated effort that emulates the original feel of power, danger, ominous adventure, and challenge

  • Strangely enough, the actual underwater temple/shrine/where you fought giant tentacle dude plays the Chaos Temple song.

While the song that plays in the Past Chaos Shrine is called Underwater Temple.

  • kraken was the name

  • The echoeing pound, the soft sound of rushing water in the background, the simple strings...perfect theme, IMO. I loved this game.

  • thats the chaos temple or shrine 1000 years in the past....

    omfg!

  • 2000 (just saying :b)

  • @panchorreado yaaa =D

  • @panchorreado 2000

  • @panchorreado: Try... *2000* years in the past!

  • GReat song!! ... What is the correct name of this song? Chaos Temple or HunderWather Temple?..

Look my performance of that song :D plz in my chanel videos

  • I lol'd at "HunderWather"

  • this is chaos temple. Apparently Square named this and underwater temple wrong on the OST

  • Are you sure? I'm pretty sure this was used at the Underwater Temple.

  • i love underwater temple and chaos temple there my favorite themes

  • Does anyone have the PSP version ??? I'm looking for it for a long time and can't find it. So please, if anybody knows where I can find it, send me a message :P

  • The Chaos Temple Theme and Castle Pandemonium are the best final dungeon songs EVER!

  • i agree

  • @CzarLyrus

You sure? Kefka's tower? Lunar subteraenne?

  • @CzarLyrus i fucking agree on that ;)

  • @CzarLyrus Just the right words said.

  • @CzarLyrus And FF9 Memoriaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

  • Why does everybody keep labeling this as the water shrine music?

It doesn't play in there, and never has. It only plays in the past Chaos Shrine/Temple.

  • That's the song's name on the OST. Where it's played isn't relevant to the name of the track. :P

In other words, blame Squaresoft. <3

  • Indeed - the Underwater Temple plays the same music as the Chaos Temple (present). The song they have labeled as the Underwater Temple on the track is actually only played in Chaos Temple (past).

  • @YoshiOSTs Its played both in the Underwater Temple, and in the Chaos Temple

  • @YoshiOSTs But the game labels it as "Chaos Temple", when you unlock the Music Gallery.

  • @YoshiOSTs technically it was played in A sunken shrine in the extra dungeon in the whirlpool

  • I agree!

  • @gs68 I beg to differ

  • @gs68 If im wrong sorry, i havent played in a while!

  • @gs68 i REALLY think it is though or at least in the version i played

  • @gs68 SORRY just checked

  • @gs68

its not "the" water shrine music

but its the "underwater" temple music

  • @gs68 Well actually, it is the theme to the Lifespring Grotto. Go play through that dungeon, and tell me its not played there.

  • @gs68 It does too play there. In the whirlpool? I swear it does!

  • @VidioPerdente i am glad you agree after beating kraken go to the whirlpool and *gasp* its there on the random floors

  • @gs68 The two musics sound alike but this really is water shrine theme and it does play in the water temple. I think the two songs begin with the same chord progression.
