My favorite FF1 music along with Chaos Temple and Matoya's Cave. But i feel that the GBA version was better than with real instrument for this song... Still like it tho.
Hey. I am a massive fan of final fantasy, if any of you fans out there want to discuss final fantasy and its music, just visit my blog. It's for those of you out there who truly appreciate the awesomeness of final fantasy.
This still has to be my favorite music from the FF1 soundtrack. It kind of makes me think of a "concentration" music you might hear in a game show. Things are serious now! No time to fool around.
It's not a mistake. I've played Final Fantasy Origins (that might be the difference) and this is played in the temple where you end up fighting Kraken. Sounds very similar I'll give you that, but it's not the same. Go ahead and look for the Chaos Temple music.
In my opinion, the NES Final Fantasy trilogy had the best final dungeon music. Chaos Shrine/Underwater Temple (call it whatever you want) in the original Final Fantasy, Castle Pandaemonium in Final Fantasy II, and The Dark Crystals in Final Fantasy III. Nobuo Uematsu clearly started strong. VERY strong in my opinion.
wow i accidently clicked on two videos for this song. And one was running 1 second more-the-less slower/faster then the other song and even when both of the same song didn't play synchronised most of the part sounded nice especially the part where the "harp" comes in. You guys should try that as well.
......i should have recorded it x.x to prove it.......
Such a powerful song, and so fitting of the last maze of the game. Definitely gives this feeling of eerieness and uneasiness but at the same time is relaxing too. The bang of the drum that happens to keep the beat also adds to the atmosphere quite a bit. It is just like "Wow!" to think that even after almost 25 years now I think, this song has stood the test of time. As has the game itself. Beautiful!
When I close my eyes listening to this song, I see myself alone on a small island in the ocean, standing in front of a small shrine, looking out into distance, with stormy skies above.
@MettanAtem Funny thing is, I almost get a similar feeling in a way, and then slowly stepping into the shrine itself wondering if you're going to make it back alive or not.
This song is actually played in both The Temple of Chaos AND The Sunken Shrine. The song is almost exactly the same, but it has a slightly different sound than Chaos Temple's does. This is true for the original verson of the game too. The PSX version holds true to the songs being similiar but different. Just listen REALLY carefully to each version of the song/s and you'll see it's true.
It's taken verbatim from the album description. If you read the notes of this vid in the upper right corner, you will see this (or read other commetns in this thread).
Ah nostalgia, I didn't get to play this game until Origins came out on PS1, but I loved the game. The storyline wasn't very deep, but it still found a way to keep your interest up and asking yourself "what next?" No wonder how this one game pulled square out of their hole and put em on top! thnx for putting up the pst, brings back memories ^_^
@GekiSonic The point is, I remember the atmosphere behind the original game, and this effort, if you can call it that, is an easy out. Some college kid made the "effort," to convert the midi, and that's all there is to it. With all due respect, I imagine you are speaking purely from a technological bias, so I understand. This song is supposed to sound powerful, ominous and adventurous. This conversion made it sound like Bambi is frolicking through a field of daisies and butterflies.
@GekiSonic What it comes down to, is I'd like to hear an updated effort that emulates the original feel of power, danger, ominous adventure, and challenge
Does anyone have the PSP version ??? I'm looking for it for a long time and can't find it. So please, if anybody knows where I can find it, send me a message :P
Indeed - the Underwater Temple plays the same music as the Chaos Temple (present). The song they have labeled as the Underwater Temple on the track is actually only played in Chaos Temple (past).
@gs68 The two musics sound alike but this really is water shrine theme and it does play in the water temple. I think the two songs begin with the same chord progression.
*Reach Final Dungeon. Sit there and listen.*

*Gets PUMPED to beat the game. Dies within ten minutes*

*Plays again. Dies again.*

in the ost, this theme is called Underwater Temple while the Temple's real theme is called chaos shrine

Actually he is right, go confirm yourself.
In the remakes the music named "Chaos Temple" is used for the Chaos Shrine of Present and in the Underwater Temple.
This variant is used in the Final Dungeon.,
The Chaos Shrine of the Past.

While the song that plays in the Past Chaos Shrine is called Underwater Temple.
