Rock & Roll doesn't get any better than Cheap Trick. Never has and never will.
They should have been bigger than the Beatles - at least in the US. Epic should be taken out behind the shed and smacked upside the head with a frozen salmon.
when I was in 8th grade, back in zbout 1970, I saw Rick and Tom playing with a band called The Fuse at the Fox Lake Ill. VFW. Rick was actually playing the organ at the time. Crazy stuff...
these guys practiced on seversons farm in rockford. i lived on that farm then they were called the grim reaper before zander came on the seen from chicago. i still meet them everyonce in awhile... great guys!!!!!!!!!!
As a long time rocker I have to say that Cheap Trick is one of my all time favorite live bands. However, I feel that Tom Petterson is so over-looked by most fans. Robin and Rick get all the credit but without that driving rhythm section of Tom and Bun E, they wouldn't be close to being who they are. Just want to give a special thanks to Tom and Bun E for keeing that beat a rockin.
One of the things that sucks about the IMUS show going away is the outstanding production of this morning show. Great soundstage. I notice that a lot of performers get good audio results on this stage/show. Bummer.
DAMN!!! This band still kicks it very, very, hard live! What's with Robin? It looks likes he's been hitting the gym just as hard. Dig it... Cheap Trick still rocks!!!!
Great great clip.Glad these guys are still going. I also recommend checking out the sadly largely unnoticed group Big Star if you haven't heard them. If you like power pop those guys were before CT, and awesome.
MY AUNT WHO LIVES IN ROCKFORD ILLINOIS WAS STRANDED ON A COUNTRY ROAD 20 YEARS AGO. A GUY TRIED TO DIG HER OUT. WHEN HE COULDN'T, HE TOOK HER TO A WARM MUSIC SHOP, GAVE HER SOME HOT CHOCOLATE AND MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR HELP. THIS WAS NONE OTHER THAN RICK NEILSEN AT THE HEIGHT OF CTs FAME. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT STARDOM HAS NOT AFFECTED EACH OF THESE GUYS FROM BEING REAL. HECK, BUN CARLOS STILL TEACHES KIDS DRUMS!
Yeah it is... all those 80's hair bands built thier careers on Cheap Trick's blend of Beatlesque melodies and hard rock punch (without the intelligence).
Cheap Trick still sound great live and are better than 99% of the rock bands out there today. Robin Zander's voice sounds amazing still! Listen to that Beatle influence, something sadly lacking in today's Rock 'n' Roll. Still the midwest's pride and joy.

I think Zander is wearing a hat because he was oversensitive about Imus calling him a nappy-headed ho.
