We can't just send people to mars because its to risky. we still have little knowledge about mars. But with pheonix there it will hopefully help us understand more about the planets past future and present . pheonix will also tell us if Mars once supported life or if it still does . But hope fully in the future we will send astronmers to mars maybe even live on mars who knows

well it took over 7 months to reach mars from its launch here on earth, I don't think we should subject a human to that long of a trip... also the climate there is so cold. A summer day is 60 below 0 and at night it is 100 below... could you imagine winter time? bbbrrrrr. chilly

@StylinAzn one reason is it takes months to get there also there is only a certain time frame in which you can possibly reach mars it happens every 20 or so years. Also they are still trying to figure out its chemistry first.
