  • where do they find their "experts?"

  • she doesnt even understand what she is teaching.

  • I don't understand all the negativity... even when she's backing the horse up, there is slack in the reins. She isn't PULLING on the reins, she is SQUEEZING and giving light pressure. She bumps with her legs to make the horse back more quickly. Did you guys even listen to the video? Her hands are light the entire time. Squeezing and releasing every time the horse takes a step is for TRAINING. This horse obviously knows how to back up and can now have constant pressure like a big boy.

  • She is giving and releasing pressure

  • It would be awesome to actually watch the video, and not just look at all of the words........

  • I agree that when dealing with horses it is commonly known to give then immediately release pressure. But if you release the pressure too soon when backing up the horse will stop backing up right? Some horses learn different. I know with my gelding when making him walk in tight circles I have to keep bumping him with my legs because he wants to stop. Unexperienced horses need different techniques.

  • I like and find it funny how the horse shook its head no at the end. LOL

  • It's the energy of your core that is the main communication, not the arms and not the heels.

  • OH MY GOSH IM SO NERVOUS i have been looking at a thousand videos because this is my second time horseriding and they expect u to know everything and remember it from the first lesson oh my goshhhhhhh

  • It is called a rear cinch and it is used on most all western saddles. It keeps the back of the saddle from coming up off the horse usually when you rope a cow.

  • Is there something wrong with that Girth? Or is it just me?

  • Your right, It's way too loose! I'm surprised she didn't fall off! Bt, that horse looks like one that gallops when told to canter!

  • Haha, Funny if she did fall off! Is her Girth too forward of is that just typical western?

  • are you sure you're looking at the girth? cause one some western saddles, there's a piece of leather behind the girth that's supposed to be loose like that.. the bucking strap. idk if that's what you were looking at, but yeah.. hahaha(:

  • I thought she handled that horse quite well. Can any of you back a horse up like that and then forward again without any help from the reins, and with all the instruction coming from the legs and feet? ........... Ya! thats what I thought.... so go back to watching hee-haw! and leave your immature comments there.

  • the only thing I would do differantly is immediatly release the reins. I notice the rider is constantly pulling on the reins.

Other then that I think this is good advice! Anyone who doesnt try to take in some of these tips is a no-it-all who probably cant ride for shit.

  • do i need a license to ride a horse?

  • lol of curse not XD

  • Apparently you don't know very much, just go to a riding stable and take lessons

  • FAIL

  • well i assume you're english.. since your name is DressageJumper101.. but in western, the posture is much more relaxed than english, so it's really not that bad.. haha but i know how you feel. i went from a hunter barn to a barn where they mostly do western. oh boy it was like hard to not sit up straight all the time. hahahaha so yeah. it's just different(:

  • Her toes are too high. your legs should be kinda dangling, otherwise, it will stress out the horse.

  • embarasin...

  • .... I was always taught to give and release bit pressure. Not to hold it there and bump with my legs... my horse gets pissy if I hold his head... a horse learns from giving and releasing pressure.... I have to agree that this is not very professional.

  • Wow this is completely stupid. The girl riding the horse isn't even sitting on it right. Her heel is down way too far and she has her stirrups raised way too much. And it sounds like this woman got all of her riding info from a really cheap how to book...

  • Beginning horse riding / collection / what happened to the beginning? The riding pyramind is: impulsion / relaxation / submission / rhythm / THEN collection! DUH! Another, learn how to ride in 30 sec or less!

  • @froggiesheins it is fairly evident that the rider is not a entry level rider.

The transition from backing to walking forward was smooth and done without rein aids.

The crooked back ups show a rider that can move either end of her mount laterally.

Western is just sloppy (also more relaxed and enjoyable) English. I takes an eye to recognize what is good.

  • i love that horse

  • i like them

  • ah ha! i got it!
