  • there are bareback classes?

  • The english riders should be posting

  • omg riding percheron's bareback is so much fun cause they are so big so you dont worry about falling and there trot is soo increadiably smooth!!

  • sweet! i love bareback. i bet the horse love it too (:

  • you sit nicely! i could never sit like that

  • This is so cool!!

  • what kind of horses are these..... Percherons they are pretty good job

  • wow.. i didn't even know, a bareback class existed Oo I'd love to ride in such a class!

but, oh well... i'm sure here in germany there isn't a bareback clas...

  • It looks like a big, comfy, couch. *__*

  • I love your riding..the horse..and his little tail!!!

  • I've always wanted to hop on a draft bareback and see what its like, looks like a hard trot to sit through though

  • @JustSuperful It's actually really easy!

  • I read the description and why shouldn't you stay on the rail? I thought you always should. Thanks! BTW really nice horse.

  • was it a walk/trot class?

  • well done, i cant do bareback :(

  • wow i saw saddleseat , hunter/jumping, and western. gosh u had like all the styles on one show , cool

  • why dock the tail? for safety? what a stupid excuse. you can just tie and wrap the tail up, takes not longer than literally 5 min. so why let the tails of saddlebreds, morgans and arabians grow so long if you use them for pulling carrage?

come on people, docking a tail is so yesterday!!! As you should know, horses use their tails to swat flies.

  • @jory84 it doesn't hurt the horse and its no big deal they dock dogs tails

  • @jory84 I agree. Maybe way back when it was okay... but I don't like it now. A horse is boarded at my house that lost her tail (infection, not docking) and she goes crazy cause of the flies. But other than that, It's just nasty to me. And for the record I don't like docking dogs' tails or ears either. But just my opinion:)

  • Your horse is sooooo prute(pretty+cute=prut ;)

  • I can't tell if riding bareback on a draft would be REALLY comfy, or REALLY bouncy.... Looks pretty comfy tho. :) I love riding bareback, just wish my horse's withers weren't so prominent. O.o

  • @NaturalJumper1032 It's really comfy. A friend of mine has a Percheron/Quarter Horse cross that looks pretty much like a pure Percheron. I rode her for about 6 months while her owner was out of the country, and I loved riding her bareback. You had plenty to grip with your legs and her back was nice and flat. It was like sitting in an easy chair. Especially when you compare that to my own Arab/Saddlebred cross who is very narrow in comparison...

  • I have always wanted to do a bareback class but have never gotton the chance it looks like fun!

  • Wow! lol, I've never heard of a bareback class.... another thing to do before I die! ^-^

  • well my crappy computer won't load this but ignore any bad comment cause the part i saw was good and if there were any ruff parts it was your first class no big deal :) but i have a tennessee walker and i absolutely love riding bareback i have searched online and asked people about bareback competitions and all they've said was ride a buck i want to do something like this :D but idk where to go or how to get started any advice? btw i ride western and live in nc

  • Omg Maria it's you!!! Lol I was just playing around on you tube and found this. Looking good!

  • i love the music!!

    its all happy!

  • ohh nice horses i ride and might get a mini one day mainly for my lil sis who dosent understand ''cowgirls dont cry''

  • @TheMollydog400

When u r riding bareback, keep the same posture as u would in the saddle. Heels down, sit deep, and just enjoy. To practice balance, don't hang

On the horses mane and definitely not the reins.

  • So....this pretty much seems like the best thing ever!!!

  • great:)

  • I've ridden Percheron's bareback before... talk about getting those cowboy legs afterward!

  • You really pull on his mouth at 00:14 :(

  • lol i can see your but does look smaller compared to the draft!!!!! LOL

  • what breed is that horse??? she/ hes gawjuss!!

  • @Horsesmad22 Percheron

  • wow! i wanna ride a draft!!! that looks soooo!!! MUCH!!! FUN!! lolz. ur such a good rider :)

  • why were u having a lesson at a show??

  • @jasminecool15 She's not in a lesson. This was a class at a show.

  • nono! do the opposite of your description! Stay on the rail!

  • lololol funny haha everyones wearing like professional stuff and than you see someone in country cloths haha lol :P

  • He has a beautiful trot!

  • um im new at riding i ride western and this looks like a western class but the anouncer says trot i thought it was jogging in western i'm probobly wrong but can someone help me

  • @dilarm A bareback class can be english or wester because obviusly your not using a saddle :) but yes in western its called a jog. If you have any other questions feel free to ask :)

  • Beautiful horse! And I've never been in a show like this nor heard of one, but I have ridden a Belgian Draft Horse bare back and It's awesome 8D. Made my already small butt look tiny though lol.

  • Hihi never saw a competition like that, but maybe it's because I come from Europe?xD

Beautiful horses but why are their tales that short?

  • @XXNichtlustigXX Most of them are probably braided and wrapped up because it's kinda just what you do with Drafts - it comes from their tails always being braided (or docked) so the tail doesn't get caught in the cart or wagon it's pulling. People do it now for that same reason, because that's just what you do with drafts, or even because it looks better, since many times breeders don't breed 'for a tail' because they're just going to be tied up anyway, so some drafts have small/thin tails

  • what happened to its tail?

  • @sunrisedelilah1 It was either docked or braided really tight...

  • @horsie623 i bet it was a tight braid with little to no extra tail....i doubt they were docked

  • @horsie623 oh ok

  • @sunrisedelilah1 It was docked. Its a common safety thing for the draft horses so their tails dont get caught in what they are pulling.

  • That horse is gorgeous.

  • Beautiful horse! Someday I wanna ride one like that

  • Zijn die staarten in een vlecht gemaakt of afgeknipt?

  • u have a percheron!!!! i have 1 to!

  • wow i didnt know they actually had bareback classes. bareback for me is just cantering around wit only a halter on!

  • I didn't know there was a class like that. Can you enter any draft breed? Looks like loads of fun.

    Your horse is awesome. =]

  • they like a giant couch to ride!

  • your sitting trot is amazing!

  • nice equitation! beautiful horse too

  • lol. the horse's tail looks like a.. sorry, i can't say it but u know. haha!

  • Wow I'm impressed by your riding. At 1:21 are you posting? Very nice!

  • i love bareback! :D

  • nice seat! the horse is not docked its in a plaited bun

  • great video but a docked tail is unnatural and cruel to look at

  • ur horse looks soooo comfy!! an du looked like u did great!

  • I've never ridden a draft horse bareback. Is it fun? My barn has a fresian who would be a fun ride!

  • have you ever canterd on a percheron?? Iv always wanted too I wounder what it would be like huge bounces lol fun fun

  • wtf is up with the horses tales i feel sorry for em !

  • Why does everyone cut their horses tail?

  • @ZackAlice Drafts are often driven in teams of two. In this set up if the tail gets caught in part of the harness it could do great harm to the horse. To avoid a future injury the tail is sometimes docked. If a horse is driven single or ridden I do not think docking is ever a good idea.

  • beautifull horse!!!!!!!

  • It looks really comfortable :P

  • very very beautiful horse!! i'm jealous, it's so wonderful :) but i think, he/she can tot faster, doesn't he? is he your own horse?

  • nice job!!!

  • Heyy there! I am getting Belgian pretty soon, any advice? I have two Quarter horses now so horses aren't new to me, I'm just trying to get some insider tips!

P.S: Your horse looks great! =p

  • Gay no stars for u

  • wow... all the riders look so comfortable on those huge horses... bareback no less! your horse is also very pretty :)

  • very cool

  • cool i looove horses i have a palomino quarter horse named Tea i just started riding bareback any advice

  • @MissHorseyness thanks the quarter horse isn`t really mine hes the barns owner horse but i just got a paint horse well hes regerstered as a paint but his breed is a quarter horse but i got him for christmas his names Romeo

  • @TheMollydog400 wow congratulations :) having ur own horse is so much better than a borrowed one. you can really bond wit them :)

  • haha so cuuuuute!!! :D

  • I love your horse!!! The white color is so fresh and beautiful!!! You did a great job!!! Keep up the good work!!!

  • You hurt his mouth...!

  • looks like my horsie!

  • They dock the tail so that when the horse is hooked up to equipment/wagons the horse won't get his/her caught in it and have it ripped off.

it is for the saftly of the horse.

  • @4x4CowGurl urm actually i think she braided his tail

  • your horse is georgeous! i love dapple greys!!! they are my fav

  • I was just gonna say, it's like riding a couch! got it easy.

    Beautiful horses.

    <3drafts.

  • holyy shit. gorgeous horses. my clydesdale feels like a giant couch. awesome for bareback

  • Beautiful horse what breed mine is an Appalosa and my brother has a Thourobred (spelled wrong!!)

  • thouroughbred

  • thoroughbred lol

  • I love how you were on his face the entire ride, and totally yanked on his mouth for the halt!...

  • Ahhhh! What happened to their tails?!?!

  • They dock them =/

  • it is cruel

  • Yup.

  • that is soo cool

  • 1:38 the brown horse, was that a clydesdale? looked like one

    i know i spelled clydesdale wrong :-)

  • @kikiza123 Sure looks like it . And I think you spelled clydesdale right.

  • really? it had the red dash under it like i spelled it wrong, but i guess its just my computer:-O

  • eh, my computer doesnt like words like Juliet.

    Stupid spellcheck.

  • what can u do, right?

  • I'll say.

  • it was probably trying to tell u to capitalize

  • Im pretty shure it was, and actually you spelled clydesdale correctly. LOL!

  • u cut his tail bob tail meannie

  • I didn't know there were bareback classes! I have a gorgeous black percheron mare that I ride bareback all the time, they are sooo comfy!

  • Your transitions were harsh, as in that first halt was dreadful, you just kind of yanked on the horse's face out of nowhere, but still cute. also, tight turn.

  • I'm not saying this to be rude or whatever, but some horses, to get the message through, you have to use a pretty harsh hand. The Friesian I least, Juliette, needs a VERY harsh hand to get her to stop, and she's been under saddle for 13 years. She's just stronger in the head, so she needs a harder hand. As far as I know, she's never showed signs of that hurting her, my trainer is much stronger than me, and she STILL has to use a harsh hand.

    (:

  • I just stopped my lease with this stubborn clyde-cross because he was so headstrong. I felt like all my ride was spent hurting his mouth without meaning to, but unless I yanked on his face constantly he would be ridiculous. I now lease an unbroke ex-pulling horse. Oh dear. Haha.<3

  • And that means you can't search for a gentler alternative? Because they do exist, it only requires persistence and training on the human's part, more than for the horse, if you get my drift.

  • lol "ride a draft it will make your butt look smaller" great reason to ride one lol!

  • WHOA !

    what A BIG HORSE!

    scaaaarrryyyyy.

i had my first bare back lesson today!

i was about to fall :)

  • Drafts are so comfy bareback. I always feel so secure.

  • is he (the gray) a perchon or a white shire? just wondering! he's beautiful! great riding!

  • it says in the info box that hes a Percheron, another clue is hes got some dappling, im pretty sure white shires wont have dappling

  • @SombraWolf24 well, some of them can

  • he is beautiful!!!!

  • God the your riding is gorgeous!

  • omg hackamore's are so strong at the mouth were as snaffle's are like the mildest type of bit u can get, i think

  • @ponyzani On a Hackamore there is no bit and no presser in the mouth. You are right about the snaffle`s for the most part being soft bits.

  • beautiful horses. that class looked like fun

  • their tails have been docked!!

  • Just hook the reins up to the halter and start in the round pen or on the ground. Your horse will need to learn the leg cues better, most english horses dont learn the leg cues for steering since they rely on the direct reining which is tough on their mouth!

  • this looks like so much fun!!!

  • that looks like so much fun!!

riding drafts bareback is amazing cause they are always so smooth and fat! :D its like riding a couch.

  • i loooove gallopping bareback!!!

and jumping! but i do it bridelless to thoug!

  • Where did you learn how to ride bridlelees? I want to learn to do so badly, but my horse hates bareback therefore I have to use a saddle, but going without a bit would be nice because i feel like I'm to dependent on it. Could you please help?

  • hi what you should do is keep the saddle on but purchose a "hackomore". they are designed to put slight pressure on a differnt parts of a horses face to keep it under control,,and in stead of pulling,,pulling,,pulling on the reins wich is conected to the mouth then you can just do a slight pull back and the pressure on the horses nose,,is telling him to stop,,making a smoother transtion..making it easier to ride to...then go on to going bareback!!

  • Thank you, and that's a good idea. I board my horse out, but someone there has a hackamore that she said I could use if I ever asked her. But she warned me that it wasn't as good as a bridle with a . . . bit . . . but I think that bits aren't exactly the best for a horse especially when you have unsteady hands . . . that would be me. Thanks again!

  • UMmmmm yeah a hackamore is harsher than a snaffle bit. It really hurts the sensative areas of a horses face- most hackamores are NOT shaped when you purchase them- and will touch incorrect area's - just start with a rope halter and tie reins on the sides of the halter- so long as you know how to initiate a one rein stop you should be fine! The horse gets direct pressure so he will know which way to go- but you want be yarding on his mouth or breaking his nose!

  • My mom has told me the same thing about hackamores. Ah, a rope halter, now that sounds like a good idea although what is the one rein stop? I've never heard of it, but I would love to know more since my horse...he is currently injured, but the vet said I can ride him at the walk only. He goes crazy without turnout...he really can't go out because he loves running...that's the last thing he needs right now. ...a one rein stop...could you please tell me more about it? Thanks!

  • OK- sometimes if you ride in a rope halter(the flat halters with buckles are not good for this exercise simply because the pressure is too spread out)- the horse may not want to stop when you pull straight back with - so in order to get your horse to stop in a emergency- just grab one rein ( making sure the opposite rein is loose) and pull your horse in a tight circle until he stops. If your horse continues walking slow tight circles- just lean the other way in the saddle( to the outside)

  • Im hoping my last post worked-

    continued-

If you lean out of the circle it encourages the horse to stop- because it sets him/her off balance- when the horse stops- immediately release pressure!!! Good Luck!!

  • Whoops, I accidently replyed back on my sister's account, VampireHavenCreator. This is my real account,KrisandGM4Life,I appreciate the extra news about the one rein stop,I think I have heard of it before only with a different name, who knows? Thanks again! My horse doesn't bolt...my sister's horse...hahaha...yeah...Wow,that sounds like such a wonderful idea...no bit or breaking the nose...thanks again! My horse and I both appreciate it!

  • omgsh u hav bareback comps? thats so kewl :) were not alowd 2 ryd bareback at comps :( lol

  • some have t ails and they just braid them up :) i couldnt stand it either though

  • looks super comfy.

  • nice vid! just wondering..are all these drafts docked? or do you have to tie their tails up for showing classes or what??

  • Read comments above ^

  • naw, he looks exactly like my old QH. RIP georgie.

  • that is on HUGE BEAUTIFUL cutie!!!

  • my horse is well to bouncy ... i would fall off . Hehhee

  • Hey guys! I got a new barebck video called Bareback Adventures 2008. Check it out and tell me what you think! It is my first time playing with videomaker so be nice... :-)

  • Beautiful horse and nice ride. I love how people see something different from what they are used to seeing in pictures or movies and automatically scream "ANIMAL CRUELTY" I wish people would educate themselves before making stupid comments!!

  • i agree....learn the sport/hobby/show/etc before judging. It may be easier to say this to yourself before making an assumption: "I judge myself 10 times over before judging you."

  • Oh, what gorgeous horses! Why aren't you supposed to stay on the rail?

If I had to do an extended bareback trot on my arab, I would go flying for sure.

  • Well in a bareback class for drafts, you try to show off to the judge and if you stay on the rail they cant see you. Youre pretty much trying to show off as much as possible!

  • WOW!!!!!! thats so kool i wish had Bareback clases :(:( your soo lucky

the drafts are all so wel behaved

    good job!!

  • i love drafts, i hate that they have to have their tails docked though

  • oh that looks likek fun.

  • I think that is would be more attractive if drafts weren't required to have their tails docked, but maybe that's just me.

  • i felt the same way till i drove a percheron with its tail down....its poor tail kept getting caught by the single tree, wheels and shafts! now i try to keep them somewhat short enough and then during show season, up they go cause it is a lo of work to braid a tail bun with a lo of hair!

  • wow wierd!! bareback!!

  • He looks like a comfortable ride. Very pretty horse! What a cutie :) Theres a horse just like that in 4-H who towers over everybody else in the show lol

  • Thats what i love about drafts...they are big and just doofy for the most part. they can get "hot" but its slow motion...lol

  • they have tails dip its just with that breed they tie them up like that its just like having a plaited shower or watev its not animal cruelty!

  • Cute horsey! And you did well too! lol
