  • the greatness of the elevators was the best keep secret of the 60s. they were the hardest rocking most dangerous least pretentious psychedelic outfit in their heyday. while roky gets most attention, props must also go to excellent lead guitarist stacy sutherland and incredible lyricist and jug blower tommy hall

  • WOW! and thanks for posting lyrics as well.

  • who the fuck is jonas what?

  • the four people that disliked are retarted.

    serious

  • @mindmartian aw they dont like the all seeing eye

  • They are from my city- Austin, Texas :)

  • Comment removed

  • ray wylie hubbard sez in one his songs that the 13 th floor elevators where the first pschedelic bands...i believe it

  • @crotchboots Te 13th Floor Elevators were introduced as the world's first psychedelic band on the intro of THE 13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS LIVE: (I got the album in October 1971, taped it onto an 8-track tape and played that tape to death. Now I got it on CD. Yay!

  • OPEN YOUR BRAINS live long and prosper and drop acid

  • @thevoidconsumes No, lsd blows...use shrooms.

  • one of the best songs of all time...........

  • Oh yeah dude pass da pipe ma brotha! .-)

  • ^_^

But I like them much more in original mono-version.

  • Their greatest song? Probably. The first two verses are dangerous and dark, but the third verse kind of loses the plot.

  • Lyrics are great Thru the rhythm of darkened times Painted black by knowledge crimes And repetitions pointless mime Instilling values the sick define That keeps the fabric that keeps you blind And ties your hands and cloaks your mind But on my stilts, I'm above the slime Come on up if you can make the climb, but who am I? Who am I? Who am I?
  • @MDProdTV

His uploads: 2-3 years old. My uploads, 2-3 months old. His uploads: Well known bands/clips (maybe not USA) with multiple hits. My uploads: Obscurities, known to collectors almost exclusively, no other hits.

At least both of us have > 10 uploads. 50+ uploads? foreveralone.jpg

    Troll Fail.

  • Good tunes though.

p.s. Kiddie? Son, you might have posted a good tune, but that doesn't make you any kind of hero. Comment was directed at the retards posting on your vid, however, if the shoe fits...

  • @Deepthroat1990.

    username says it all pal.

  • this reminds me of jimi hendrix.. so good

  • @hweenmask you must be kidding, right. Or do you really have no sense of musical history at all???

  • @antikist nope i wasnt :D were you?

  • @hweenmask No I wasn't, Hendrix was still playing background for soul bands when the 13th. Floor Elevators recorded this album. So it might depend on the running order in which you heard them, but for me Hendrix reminds me of the Elevators and Love.

  • @hweenmask But Hey, I don't want to be the Old Fart To Rain On Your Parade, And I Welkom Everybody who discovers the genius of the Elevators. No Matter which Road they took to get here. Welcome to the club Bro.

  • who's jonas brothers?

  • En algun momento mi cerebro se destruira

  • What are you guys talking about, Jonas Brothers?

  • Why the fuck is Jonas Brother's mentioned in my 13th Floor Elevators?

  • @Noxcer because they probably trip out

  • sounds like mick jagger a little bit

  • @MusicManDan22 yes he does

  • noice

  • Im with internalPeace, on this issue.

  • alucinante sonido supersicodelico de los 13th floor elevators.....lo maximo...pioneros del rock sicodelico

  • Markmoth's comment re: shamans put their minds at risk for the benefit of the society is right on. the rest of this debate is pointless. sit back & enjoy these guys, there weren't many like them, and (sadly) that age will never come again.

  • What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck! how did The Jonas Brothers, of all bands, get mixed with the 13th Floor Elevators?!

    EWW!

  • Reminds me alot of Led Zepplin :o this should be som hidden ©

  • @PREY3R

Led Zeppelin reminds me of them.

  • Don't know if the comparison works, but I'll attempt it: soldiers put their lives at risk for the common good- so the shamans put their minds at risk for the common good: Thanks for getting out the lyrics on Elevator songs

  • Im more into punk but the elevators have such a quality feel to everything they did that draws me in. It seems like they could do no wrong. Instant ear massage.

  • love this band! music made with awareness, thats whats up!...come visit my channel please :)

  • this band is absolutely flawless

  • The tangential nonsense You Tubers get up to just beggars belief! Forget about time & space & your PhD's & just enjoy some time & space-less music, people!

  • what are you idiots on about?

just appreciate good music when you hear it and get on with it...jeezus.

  • Man this band is jammin!

Wishh I could have seen them live. Would have been an honor!

    I need a time machine.... ..

  • @InternalPeace93 Don't we all :)

  • You guys should have heard them live at the Jade Room in the 60's. YOU'll never know.

  • I totally believe in visitors. After all, aren't WE living beings? So why should we deny that to others? But what do I know, I'm just an ASTROPHYSICIST!

  • fucking love it, can't get enough of them!

  • I'm a college student and I can say they definitely try to keep you blind whether they know it or not. If they just showed scientific "facts" as practical causal tendencies as opposed to truth that would be fine, but instead they try to pass off bullshit as truth and I have to constantly disregard the message while "learning" the bullshit "facts".

  • people / humanity is always trying to sell you crap as the truth. it is just made that way. nevermind about it and you will be free. ' You will know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free ' John 8:32

  • Being dependent on others to feed you truth instead of seeking it yourself means you will never know it, meanwhile your a slave to the ideas of others. Back in JCs day, people relied on other's opinions instead of going to the sources. Sound familiar? He was saying, "forget those jerks, they don't care about your well being, only their own. Read the bible yourself."

  • Psychedelic 60's counterculture was about seeking truth, regardless of conformity, even at the risk of possible side affects of 25. Roky, like fellow Austinite Daniel Johnston did ysear later, went "off the reservation". Trip responsibly and always with positive purpose.

  • I agree. But remember, most people don't care about the accuracy of information, even in science. For instance, the speed of light is now known to not be absolute. Your average student just wants to learn enough to squeak by. Wait until you are around grad students and profs. You'll like their attitudes better than what you deal with now.

  • wow this is a good recording. the other mixes and reproductions of this track i have heard just suck. i'd like to hear it in mono.

  • que tal cancion recontrasupersicodelica ...cuando la escucho me mantiene ensimismado y fuera de orbita

  • oh my god this is so awsome i cant believe how awsome it really is

  • Oh fuck I love this.

  • I'll fuckin' love the thirteenth floor elevators forever! Thanks for posting this.

  • wtf why are u talking about jonas brothers.... i can`t hear it!!

but ok.... why not talk about the black angels maybe they aren`t from the same time but they have a psicodelic way to play!!!!

  • Some of the best lyrics I've ever read.

  • hahah ya ma bad .....i spell that wrong

  • y does it have da eye of raaa?

    isnt dat da alluminum?

  • you mean illuminati?

  • Where am I? i do the same question to myself

    illuminati suck balls..

"bad religion - come join us" speaks about unity but in another music: "drastic actions", he said to not go out in da streets and make noise.. i guess he knows where all we going.. there's no way to escape..lol.. but i hate 3rd dimension, i dont care.. ;D

  • xd you mean were going to the 4th dimension¿

  • Music is the 4th dimension, you can be there whenever you want,

    and now comment everywhere.

    . º .

  • no, i didn't said that.. I said that i hate 3rd dimension.. :)

4th dimension is a nova era bullshit 'maybe'..

I prefer to continue with my life, 'cause I know we are protected by good aliens and beings, i feel that. I heard one once in my head, that called my name. I'm not kiddin'..

2012 will happen nothing. Just another false flag in 2013 (bioattack)..and 2016 -> Olympic Games here in Rio!

  • There very well could be a higher intelligence in the universe, but it couldn't be "aliens". Although it might be comforting in a 'nerdy white trash' sorta way to consider this possibility, it is pointless. The intelligence within the universe could prove to be higher evolved form of consciousness. In fact, humanity could be the starting point for the universe becoming self aware. With guys like you, this may take a while.

  • Seeing how every "point" you just made is based on possibilities, such as "could be higher evolved," why are you so close minded to the possibility of lifeforms existing at a similar or further progressed evolutionary point during their civilization's lifetime?

  • fuck the illuminati

  • great song,to the best of 13 th

  • too psycedelic...great

  • Why the hell are we even talking about Jonas Brothers? This music has absolutely nothing to do with them, and yes, they do suck. Use comment space to talk about good old psychedelic music!

  • The Jonas Brothers are great psych music.

  • ???

  • You idiot, they don't even know what is psychedelic music! Jonas Brothers is only teen idols, but they will not be remembered in 50 years, like lots of 60s group were and still is.

  • troll much ArtIsNotForSale?

  • j.brothers do suck and I don't even wanna hear there shit.

  • Damn! I can't believe how good these guys were. Awsome guitar tone, lead vocals, great bass player, and creative warbling from the dude on the jug. The producer must've been in heaven.

  • da sballo

  • grow up you little child...you cares about this crap ur talking...noone said you gave to hear this so stfu

  • I think you guys miss the point... He's concerned about the symbolism in the cover imagery because it relates to free masonry or the illuminati or whatever.

  • yeah ok..so what? even if he sees something bad in it, it got nothing to do with the music itself

  • Are you kidding???? Go listen to some Jonas Brothers, cuz obviously you have no taste in music. If anyone is a fool, you are. And I'm 21 so you cant say I'm some old guy defending this great music.

  • Jonas Brothers ??? ROFL get the fuck out of here... looool just watched 3 seconds of that bullshit i never heard of and i started feeling like a gay. RIP to rock anyway

  • If all it took to make you feel gay was abit of music, I think that says more about you ;)

  • you tell him buddy !

  • you got absolutely no point, dumbass! this music is fantastic and the symbolism is not that important ...

  • Symbolism is always important... Thats what made old music so beautiful compared to the shit thats out today. Keep working at it tho =P

  • It would benefit you to read the liner to understand where they/we/I were at that particular time. Long live the Jade Room.

  • what do you mean?

  • @Deepthroat1990 Look you little prick. If you have to ask you wouldn't understand.

  • @sandymane

omg dont spam my life u scumbag...make a comment regarding my video or get the fuck out of here

  • @sandymane you're not very nice

  • @sandymane

    Here here!

  • This song has alwayes spooked me good

.. Electric Jug makes me spacy ..

.. the spell the guitarist castes ..

.. Jack Taar riffs straight out of ..

.. the People's History of the United States.

In that dynamic Southern Tradition ..

.. now for some Lynard ..

  • Roky Erickson is the shaman

  • @SinsterCrayon

    Tommy Hall was the shaman.

  • rock on....

  • The lyrics of this song although written more than four decades ago, ring more true now than ever.

  • Reminds me of some rap music I have heard. He was ahead of his time. Now is his time.

  • How?!

  • i was just turned on to the elevators and i must say simply amazing havent been able to locate the albums but this will keep me going for now. so thank you

  • for me it was hard to find more than the popular songs at the beginning...but it is worth searching

  • Hells yes. One of my favorite songs by the Elevators. SO dramatic. Intense.

  • Yup.

  • Sono intrippanti.

  • Wooow .. I remember their album cover from '67, but never did I know how awesome their music was. Through them I hear Morrison, The 'Pistols, and The Ramones!!

    Thanks for posting!

  • Iagree, these guys were VERY influential!

  • Um, maybe you hear "The Doors" in this music 'cause Morrison and his band dabbled in psychedelic music but to hear "The Pistols" and "The Ramones"? That just flat-out makes me giggle as I simply don't hear it and I gotta wonder if we're listening to the same song here or what!

  • WavyGravy22: .. yeah .. i kinda' overreached there .. the Elevators did influence *garage* bands, and these by and large sounded like the "punk rock" bands of the late 70's ..

  • Roky racoon checked into his room, only to find gidions bible

  • the best song from 13th -->

  • I think so

  • pretty much the most original song ever...
